Anthony Duclair was traded to the San Jose Sharks by the Florida Panthers for forward Steven Lorentzand a fifth-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft on Saturday.

Duclair, a forward, has one season remaining on a three-year contract he signed with the Panthers on July 15, 2021, and can become an unrestricted free agent after this season.

The 27-year-old was limited to 20 games last season (nine points; two goals, seven assists) because of a torn Achilles but had 11 points (four goals, seven assists) in 20 Stanley Cup Playoff games, helping Florida reach the Stanley Cup Final. He set NHL career highs in goals (31), assists (27) and points (58) in 74 games with the Panthers in 2021-22.

"Anthony will bring speed and tenacity to our lineup on a nightly basis," Sharks general manager Mike Grier said. "He has a well-rounded game along with the ability to score and we are excited to have him join our organization."

Selected by the New York Rangers in the third round (No. 80) of the 2013 NHL Draft, Duclair has 261 points (122 goals, 139 assists) in 490 regular-season games with the Panthers, Ottawa Senators, Columbus Blue Jackets, Chicago Blackhawks, Arizona Coyotes and Rangers. He has 14 points (five goals, nine assists) in 34 playoff games.

Florida signed defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson to a one-year contract Saturday. The Panthers also signed defenseman Niko Mikkola to a three-year contract, defensemen Dmitry Kulikov and Mike Reilly each to a one-year contract, forward Grigori Denisenko to a two-year contract and goalie Anthony Stolarz to a one-year contract.

Lorentz had 19 points (10 goals, nine assists) in 80 games for the Sharks last season. The 27-year-old forward has 40 points (20 goals, 20 assists) in 192 regular-season games with the Sharks and Carolina Hurricanes, and three assists in 16 playoff games.

He was a seventh-round pick (No. 186) by the Hurricanes in the 2015 NHL Draft.
