ScottM
I'm a little behind again, but the Senators have signed Matt Bartkowski to a professional tryout. Bartkowski had no goals in 131 career games with Boston, but had a breakout last year in Vancouver with a six goal, 18 point season in 80 games. His best performance on the season came against the Sens when we scored two goals and three points on February 25. This is certainly not an earth-shattering move, but it's nice to see the team do something on the blue line. Pierre Dorion described the tryout as a "free look." If he he makes the squad and comes anywhere close to the 18 points from last season, it would be a nice boost in the non-Karlsson offensive punch from the defensive corps. He could potentially alleviate the need to play some of the AHL-caliber defensemen as well as help give guys like Chabot and Englund time to ensure they're ready. It's not huge, but at least it's something.
