  1. What will happen in tonight's game? Will the Blackhawks bounce back after that travesty in Toronto last night? Neither team's top goalie (Crawford for us and Quick for them) will be playing due to injury, so how will that play out? I am tired from the workweekend, so I wasn't aware that the Hawks were playing tonight until I was about to go to work this morning, so I don't have much commentary to begin this thread, but I am off tomorrow, so I can watch all of this game tonight!
  2. Didn't see this coming ... The Leafs lead the Hawks 5-2 and are looking like the Hawks have in most games lately. Patrick Kane scored both Hawks goals. The Hawks defense is looking rather leaky tonight.
  3. @flyercanuck Hi flyercanuck! Speaking of Lupul ... he had a hand in the Leafs' first goal tonight. I hope the Hawks don't beat themselves by taking needless penalties. The Leafs lead the league on the power play at home. I think this game would go differently if the Hawks can stay out of the box from now on.
  4. Leafs just went ahead 2-1 in the beginning of the second period D'OH! The Leafs just went ahead. Thus far, special teams are having an impact. The Leafs scored on the power play to go up 1-0 in the first, but the Hawks tied it at the time during a 5-on-3 power play. Overall, though ... the Hawks have taken too many penalties in this one so far. We're going to have to stay out of the box if we want to win this game.
  5. @goalnut3133 "Awesome that you'll be able to do the chat next Fri & watch the whole game! Should be good fun haha! :P" I'm so looking forward to next Friday ... and finally having a weekend off from work!
  6. OOPS!! This game will be Saturday night, not tomorrow night. Stupid work schedule ... got me all mixed up.
  7. @Samifan "I am just glad that the Hawks played the night before and then had to travel back from Texas before the game. If not, they may have put up double digits last night!" That would have been something ... the only double-digit goals game for a team that I remember involving the Hawks was back in 1998 and the Hawks were on the loosing side of it, 10-3 to the Maple Leafs.
  8. @flyercanuck I saw the comment fix ... . I was not expecting the bottom to fall out for the Flyers, but when the Hawks roll out four lines, I can't tell you how to stop them. Seven different Hawks scored in that game. Saturday, we are playing the Leafs ... it will be interesting to see if this continues, because it is unreal. This week is looking like we're back in the 1980s!
  9. @goalnut3133 Hi goalnut! Emery got the yank when it was 6-2. I'd say the chat room was crowded, but I enjoyed myself. I actually had a difficult time logging on at first ... got an error message that said, "Something seems to be wrong. We could not log you on." or something like that ... "Hey, we should do the chat room together when we play you next Friday! (Oh man, it'll be WELCOME TO THE MADHOUSE for us! )" YES, we should! Even better: I am off for that weekend after having worked 2 weekends in a row, so I can stay up for the game!
  10. Hawks win BIG, 7-2 I will admit once again that I did NOT see this coming! It is unusual, at least from what I've seen, for a team to win blowouts in back-to-back games. The last time I remember it is in the 1996-97 season in November when the Red Wings beat the Sharks 6-1 and then beat the Kings 6-0 the next night. What's even more amazing is that seven different Hawks scored,
  11. This should be a very interesting game! The leafs are playing tonight against the Blues, so maybe they will be tired in their game against the Blackhawks. Joffrey Lupul (I am not sure I spelled his first name correctly) will be back from injury for tonight's game, and he is someone the Leafs will need vs. the Hawks. Nazem Kadri, who scored against the Hawks when the two teams last met in October, will be another interesting player to watch. I read that he has a nasty edge to him, as evidenced by a game vs, the Wild last month (see "Suspension looming for Kadri" thread for more details on that) and by 41 PIM thus far this season. What will happen with Kadri? Will he run around like a maniac a la Antoine Roussel? Maybe he will end up in the penalty box for more minutes then his ice time minutes and the Hawks can show him how bad he is?
  12. Hawks trailing 1-0 after one period The Hawks are trailing 1-0 after one period. It looks like both teams were testing each other out for half the period. The Flyers have been playing well thus far. I will watch the second period ... then I have to go to bed for work tomorrow. -_-
  13. I saw NBC Sports Networks' NHL Rivals show and while I think it was interesting, it seemed more like a regular game preview rather than a documentary of a rivalry. The Hawks and Flyers certainly can become rivals, but I think it will take more time, given that the teams are in different conferences.
  14. @goalnut3133 We'll see ... there's still a lot of season left!
  15. @goalnut3133 That's unfortunate. I wish I wasn't working tomorrow, so I can watch all of this tonight, but I will instead have to DVR some of it. Ah well ... Time to check out the chat room here before the game starts!
  16. I still think it will be a close one. IMO, it will depend on the special teams. Also, as flyercanuck said ... "The ONLY way this game is close is if the 'Hawks look past this one.". This is exactly what I'm hoping the Hawks don't do. I do not want to see the Hawks beat themselves ... Bears-Eagles ... I am looking forward to that, also, and since the time has been changed, I can stay up and watch because I am off of work this next Monday.
  17. @goalnut3133 What a game that was! I think we have one more game against Dallas in Chicago, where ROussel will hopefully get his comeuppance. "All I can say is, I'm glad that wasn't the Nucks tonite...though our time is COMIN' SOON!! :(" You're making the Hawks sound like the Grim Reaper ... maybe Raanta should design his goalie mask to look like the Grim Reaper?
  18. @jammer2 I think you will be right! The refs in this game let the clock tick down after Roussel left the game with seconds left, which I think was a good idea. Else, this would not have ended well ...
  19. This is going to be a big one! There's a bit of history, with the 2010 Cup finals, and of course all of the Flyer fans on these boards ... . I have a hunch this will be a close game, since it is the second of back-to-back games. The Cup fianls history between these two teams will be the "game within a game" here. This is being featured on NBC Sports Network's NHL Rivals show and the Wednesday Night Rivalry game.
  20. @jammer2 "If you have not been in chat for a game, you should go and try it out during the Hawks/Flyers game. It's a good time, lot of funny posters in there." I'll have to try that out. I wish I could watch all of the game tomorrow night but I have to get up early for work the next day (My hours are 7:00AM to 3:30PM). I have a hunch the game will be closer ... if the Hawks win, it will probably by more like 3-1 IMO. I'm looking forward to it!
  21. Hawks win, 6-2 The Hawks win this one 6-2. Raanta had a good game in net. This game could have gotten out of control with the way Antoine Roussel was running around. Hawks color analyst Ed Olczyk suggested paying back Roussel's running at Toews and Kane by running at the Stars' top players rather than throwing down with Roussel. I'm not sure I agree with Eddie O on that. If a player on an opposing team is taking runs at top players, why should the Hawks go down to that level?
  22. Saad and Sharp have two goals each in a rout after two That's 3 goals in 4 games for Saad, I believe, and Sharp is playing quite sharp indeed. Could the Hawks end up with double digits? That would be great! With this game being a blowout, it also has the potential to get quite nasty, particularly with Roussel taking runs at anyone wearing a Hawks jersey ...
  23. @goalnut3133 That was awwwwwwwwwesommmmmmme! To borrow quotes from Chicago Bulls color commentator/broadcaster Stacey King and tweaking them a bit ... "Did you NOT get the memo?! Kaner can go upstairs (e.g. on a breakaway)!" and "Stop it! Stop! Don't do him like that, Kaner!". That is how he would sound if he did Hawks games. By the way ... it looks like Antoine Roussel is looking for another throwdown! That guy certainly does not like the Hawks.
  24. @ruxpin "I guess it's a good thing he's not a Bruins or Hawks fan, huh?" That'd be funny if he were a Hawks fan!
  25. @goalnut3133 Hi goalnut! I heard Bickell has been put on injured reserve with a knee injury. I hope this won't last too long. Congrats to Lack on his shutout! That had to have been great to watch!
