  1. I agree they mishandled and mismanaged him. They should've given the C to Timonen (or Briere) and let Richards just focus on just playing hockey. Richards proved to be a lousy captain, but that's hardly his fault... He just didn't appear to be ready.

With that been said, things I heard on the radio about him really took me aback... We, fans, had no clue what was going on behind the scenes. Apparently, Richards, on many occasions, was an absolute asshole to some of his teammates and coaching staff. I heard Snider could not stand Mike and was directly involved in shipping him and Carter. Both players - again, based on what I heard - represented everything Snider hates about a player and a person. He vowed last summer that Richards and Carter played their last game wearing O&B this spring. If what I heard is even remotely true, Mike is just not a good guy and he really dog himself a hole here.

Not to open a can of worms but out of curiosity, can you tell me what you heard?

  2. IMO if you can't score playing with Rooo and Jagr then you must suck. I just think Lavy put him there to get him going, if other forwards are struggling I would think he'll do the same to get them going too. But as of right now Hartnell is earning that 4.2 mil.

  3. Yes they should be happy with Richards, he helped them win 2 games (openner and against us). I think the trade works out well for both teams so far. Would we be where we are at with Richards still here? Would we be a team struggling like the last 2 month of the last season? Who knows but our team looks good for now and hopefully Simmonds and Schenn work out great for us.

  4. How lucky we are that he drop to the 8th pick? I'm happy as heck with how he's playing and being used, Lavy has been putting him position to succed and he has. He's been scoring with linemates that aren't really offensive players and that means something. I just hope he will develop into a better player than Carter. I was reading on the Blue Jackets board and most were piss that Voracek and Couets hurt them last night lol.

  5. I think we should wait before we do anything. We all new this year was going to be rocky. The defence is a mess right now, but it wasn't 6 games ago and might not be 6 games from now.

Yes they are in a mess but our defense has been together the past 2=3 years? They shouldn't have any excuses at all and each of them are being paid very well. The chemistry and system should be there for them unlike the new forwards we have. What was our strength the past few years are now suddenly our weakness, I would pair Gustavsson up with Pronger when he comes back to see how this kid plays. Gustavsson has shown me he can play and doesn't make the bonehead plays that Carle makes. If he keeps it up we can package Carle and whoever for another dman that can actually play defense.

  6. I'm in the same boat as everyone, he's won me over with his play and leadership right now. It's amazing that he plays defense, forecheck and backchecks, you cannot find a flaw in his game right now except maybe skating but he always skates like that. He's showing the young and old guys that you don't need to be just offensively to be effective (hint to Briere). I do hope he keeps this up for the whole year and if he does, he deserves another year here.

  7. Can't wait to get Pronger back with the team, very scary how the defense just plays awful without 1 guy. I would never have thought Pronger would be this big of a impact when they traded for him.

  8. Pronger needs to be on the point for the PP. His long reach along with his slap shot completely change how aggressive opposing teams are on the PP. Their troubles with the PP have more than doubled since Pronger has gone out. Gustavson has no real feel for the point, he was out of position almost every time he was on the ice for the PP.

You sure it was Gustavsson? I remember more of Carle on the PP. Dude can't play anywhere annymore.

  9. Realistically I will trade Carle for a defensive dman and one that makes less than Carle so that will give us cap space. I had really like this guy but he's been bad with the puck lately. I will understand if he is more offensive but he isn't. Right now I can't think of any names to give you but there's gotta be someone who fits the profile I describe. As of right now I would rate Gustavsson hight than Carle.

As for Coburn, he had a bad game tonight too with alot of turnovers in the d-zone. He is too inconsistent with his play. Where's the nastiness we have seen him play with? Would love to see it more often, more physical play with body checks and crease clearing. His offense game sucks badly but if you can't contribute there atleast concentrate on defense.

I've posted on the old forum about these 2 and who to resign. I would only bring back Coburn but if he doesn't improve his play the rest of the season, we will need 2 new defenseman to replace these 2. At 4 mil or more apiece we need better play in our d-zone then what they have shown.

  10. why is patrick sharp saying hello? what point are you trying to make?

if schenn were a winger, my point of view on this would be different. unless the flyers are planning on converting him to a wing, you tell me what spot he is going to take on the roster. 6 minutes per game on the 4th line?

i really don't understand how some people can't get their heads around the idea that an asset can be parlayed into another asset without the move representing some kind of surrender. the kings didn't give up on schenn when they traded him; they used his value to fill a need on their roster.

the flyers have zero need for another top 6 center. at least not for the next 3 years. top 6 winger? yes. top 4 dman? yes. top 6 center? no, not at all. spending the next 3 years trying to find ice time for him, juggling lines around all the time so giroux, briere, couturier and schenn can all get their chances, is only going to continue the confusion we saw when the flyers tried to make it work with richards, carter, giroux, and briere.

as far as i'm concerned, the answer is to either convert couturier or schenn to a wing, or move couturier or schenn. not "give up" on them, but trade their value for equal value in a position they have a need for.

Out of curiosity who would you trade Courts or Schenn for that is equal value? I don't think you can get anyone that can really help right now unless it's a package.

  11. I missed the Brindy and Lindros days, they were the one of the best at FO. These guys need to practice it every darn day, even on game days. We rarely score off of faceoffs anymore. Seeing other teams do it to us more often and it pisses me off.

  12. I agree with keeping Schenn for now even though he hasn't showed anything at the NHL level. Yes he hasn't showed us anything in the games he's played so far but why trade him for a defensive prospect? Everyone says a F will develop quicker than a D, also the Flyers can't seem to develop any Dman at all. Example is Niinama, Pitkanen, Carle and Coburn, the last 2 still frustrates the hell out of me most of the time. So in my opinion let Schenn develop into a Mike Richards clone or close to it then trade him or Briere for a established Dman. If they trade Schenn now for a prospect Dman, will you guys have the patience to wait for him to develop as you are showing patience for Schenn?

  13. Thanks for the video Brelic, I didn't even notice that during the game. Kaleta is a dirty player and glad he got what he derserve, that could've cause a head injury. The NHL isn't allowing all these little dirty plays to go unnotice anymore which is awesome.
