  1. I hope it's true! I'm missing it already and it really hasn't been that long (except for the usual long summer). I hate to get my hopes up because everything else I read says they are still very far apart. Of course now that Jake's hurt...season will be starting soon :( Call it Flyers luck!

This just keeps getting more and more painful!

"Danny Briere and Claude Giroux are headed to Europe to play for Eisbären Berlin in the Deutsche Eishiockey Liga (DEL).

Briere texted CSNPhilly.com this morning with the news.

    “No other comment,” Briere said.

Berlin’s coach is Don Jackson, a former Ottawa Senators assistant coach.

Briere and Giroux join goalie Ilya Bryzgalov (CSKA of KHL) and forwards Ruslan Fedotenko (Donbass of KHL); Jakub Voracek (HC Lev Praha of KLA); Wayne Simmonds (Eispiraten Crimmitschau of the Bundesleague); and Matt Read (Sodertalje of SEL).

Scott Hartnell is also expected to make a decision on Europe by week’s end.

Eisbaren Berlin is owned by Anschutz Entertainment Group which owns the Los Angeles Kings."

Thanks for the articles, very interesting. I can't imagine that the league hasn't figured some of this out yet (or hasn't appeared to). I can certainly understand both the league and the players not wanting contraction but let's get real, some of these teams will never make any money and the enitre league is suffering from it. We tried it, it failed, let's fix it and move on. After that they can look at things a little more realistically. Parity is a great thing but means nothing when there is no season. :(

I guess you never really know what you got until it's gone :( I cringe everytime I think that this may be another season without hockey! Looking at what happened with the NHL and the officials, I think there may have to be some major catalyst to get these guys off the dime! But what, they don't seem to care much about we fans

  5. I get the impression that unless he feels he can be effective he won't be back. If he is true to his words, he will accept a diminished role/less $$ just to stay with the Flyers to finish out his career in the NHL. I do think his experience and attitude is an asset that we would have a tough time replacing with this young core.

Of course if it is about the almighty dollar, he'll go where the money is. But I don't think so.

  6. My official opinion is that they don't have to win tonight to win the series but it is not an option. I do think the Flyers will win the series and refuse to think anything different. ;) As this series has moved along my feelings towards the Pens have gotten worse and worse. Let's kill them in front of their home crowd and make them shake our hands in a nice line at the end.
