  1. In part, probably. I also think they are going to get exposed a little bit. They are a talented young team, but that run they went on was some all-time records type of stuff, and they certainly aren't an all-time great team. Everything just went right for them.
  2. Is it me or are big stereotypical goons making a bit of a come back?
  3. Excellent news. Misery loves company.
  4. I love that this thread is a comparison of JVR and you forgot to bring him up, lol. Shows how forgettable he is for sure. They need help everywhere was my point. Hard to single out the goalie when they don't score a single goal of their own.
  5. I said capable, but I didn't mean capable. I mean who is really likely to do it. I didn't mean potential or might if he has a career year, I meant who can we count on besides Giroux? Briere and Hartnell are maybes, but they've gotten below that threshhold more often than above it (as Flyers). The rest are totally unproven. Bryz is Bryz and is always going to be a concern. He could be playing well, but we'll never be confident in him. Ever. But if the only concern you're talking about is keeping the puck out of the next, you're off your rocker bro. Our defense is made up of a bunch of nobodies. Our offensive is Giroux and the AHL all stars. I love a good role player, but you can win with one guy scoring70-90 and the rest 40-50.
  6. It's too early, I didn't see the whole 2nd game, and I don't know who is who in this team right now. Some of the new numbers have my old and forgetful ass confused. In general, I'd say the team looks like they lack an identity or style. I can't pick a single thing that this team is known for. Maybe my brain just isn't with it, but I don't know a lot about some of these guys, particularly on D. It could just be that I haven't really paid attention to hockey in a while (I hear lockout and I don't follow again until its resolved), but I don't know this team. One other thing I'm noticing is that they have too many guys who either haven't or never will blossom yet. I like role players, but is there anyone on this team - other than Giroux - capable of scoring over 60 points?
  7. Oh, I am a fan of that. If there's one thing I like about the NFL, it's the way they structure their contracts. I think all leagues should follow this model. Teams should have a right to get rid of a player if they don't want them. If you aren't playing up to your contract or are simply making so much it hurts the team, they should have the right to give you you're walking papers.
  8. I agree it was totally sickening. It's a GAME, shut the **** up and play. Or don't, I don't care anymore. If I get to watch and get some enjoyment out of it, great. If I don't, oh well. I'll go watch a movie. How is the KHL set up? I don't know anything about it other than that's pretty much the next best choice for hockey players in this world.
  9. Bettman sucks, but that's all you've got. That idiot running the players union ****ed up baseball too. There are a lot more factors than your dislike of Bettman.
  10. I saw rumors on Facebook (which came from Twitter) just a few days ago that a deal was virtually done. It had said that games could start as soon as January 19. So I get up this morhing and turn on Good Day Philadelphia (How hot is Kacie McDonnell btw?) and it says the two sides did not even meet yesterday. How the **** does this happen? It's January for Christ's sake, how the **** are you doing anything other than locking yourselves in a room and ordering takeout until the issue is resolved? That's a disgrace that they can't even meet in person. This isn't just a Gary Bettman problem either, so don't bother posting any of that ****, I have no time or interest in it. This is a league-wide communication (and greed) problem. None of them care about anyone but themselves.
  11. Michael Vick is considered to be a good athlete. Kordell Stewart was considered so "athletic" and "versatile". Neither one of them was a great or particularly good quarterback. Now before you go saying I said athleticism means nothing, I'm not saying that. But if that's the core of your argument, I'm not impressed. He might be really good one day, who knows? But based on his resume so far, I don't think he's particularly special. I know it's been a short career, so I'm not ignoring that either.
  12. You have a very interesting way of making a point. When comparing both players seasons last year, you ignore the best part of Bryz's season . You compare Bob's PO stats (smaller sample) to Bryz's entire season this past year. Do you believe that I'm a stupid person or have you actually fooled yousrelf into thinking that's a good way to make your point look stronger?
  13. Correct me if I'm wrong, because it's been a really long time since I was on or even thought about PTPITN, but aren't you the same guy who predicted Carter would score 60 goals a year? I should amend my statement a little bit. I think he could be a starter, but not necessarily a particularly great one. I see him being one of those guys that is a starter sometimes, but not consistently. It will all depend on the team he's on. He's Brian Boucher or Niittymaki.
  14. That's pretty much what I see from in in regards to this topic.
  15. Your favoritism aside, the level of interest you have him seems great than it should be based on his career. His career is not particularly impressive. He wasn’t alone, but totally **** the bed in the PO a few years ago. He also couldn’t beat out a struggling goalie in Bryz last year. Now I know he’s young and his career is by no means over, but honestly man, what’s he done? One solid season could change things, but his resume says career backup.
  16. Great? Bryz didn't even have a great year last year and his stats were better than the kid's.
  17. You know, I'm going to have to call ******** on you claim earlier that you're blaming both sides. Everything that comes off of the tip of your fingers is about Bettman and the owners.
  18. Athleticism, hmm. Oh well, that's nice I suppose. I'm not sure what numbers you are looking at. Could you elaborate on that? Because I just looked up last year's stats and Bryz had a better GAA, Sv%, and more SO. http://www.nhl.com/ice/player.htm?id=8468524 http://www.nhl.com/ice/player.htm?id=8475683
  19. For me personally, I don't like defenseman that are failed wingers. If they are a defenseman and can't defend, there's no point in them playing that position.
  20. I'm hopefuly that he does and the few seasons before last tell me he can, but being a Flyers fan, I'm worried he won't.
  21. They can't even get the two sides to come together and negotiate when the league is actively in a lockout. What makes you these they will two sides will sit down, come to a gentleman's agreemen in the mean time, and work out a future deal?
  22. While I agree the contract they gave him was ridiculous, I can't agree and say they didn't research him. He appeared to be on the rise. It's their fault for giving him the contract, but choosing him - based on his most recently few seasons - wasn't necessarily a bad decision.
  23. Bobrovsky? I haven't heard his name mentioned in a while and last I did, I had kinda assumed most people recognized that he was a backup. I don't think he's a terrible player and the goofball is a great one, it's just that I thought the consensus was that Bob was never going to be anything special (and you're talking about him like we threw away a great prospect)?
  24. I think he can, but I have no idea if he will. I've seen guys bounce back from one bad year and I've also seen that one year turn into the rest of their career. Some guys just flake out earlier than others. I don't think it's impossible be bouces back. Even in an off year, his stats aren't that bad. Hextall was beloved and besides that one fluke year, Bryz on a bad year was better. The thing that concerns me most is the defense. He's coming off a shaky season and our defense is questionable. If the D even struggles a little, it could get ugly.
