flyercanuck
Canada won gold last night at the World U18 tournament with a 5-3 win over Russia. Russia opened the scoring, stopping Canada from scoring first and holding the lead the entire tournament. The game featured most of the top picks over the next 3 drafts. Connor Bedard becomes the youngest player to ever win gold and will likely be the Crosby/Ovechkin generational one/two punch in the 2023 draft along with Russian sniper Michkov Matvei. Matvei led all scorers with 16 points in 7 games including 12 goals. Shane Wright, likely the top pick for the 2022 draft had 14 points in 5 games. Bedard had 14 points as well. Not bad for the youngest guy in the tournament. Brandt Clarke had an excellent tourney and cemented himself as one of the top picks in the upcoming draft. Sweden won bronze after defeating the Finns 8-0.
