Sens move zaitsev to the Hawks, clear salary cap space

Ottawa found a team willing to take on the bloated contract of Nikita Zaitsev, this year and next at 4.5 million per in exchange for taking the human pylon off their hands they gave Chicago a 2nd in the upcoming draft and a 6th four years from now.

 

  Chicago kind of needed the salary if the moves they are anticipating come to be, just to keep at the cap floor. Kane is almost certainly gone and Seth Jones has been whispered about for quite awhile now.

 

 For Ottawa, clearing the salary allows them to make a move for a defenseman who can actually play Parayko from St. Louis is the hot rumor, of course the rumor Dejour for Ottawa and most everyone is Chychrun. 

 

  Anyway, Chicago did this to get a free second rounder and to remain cap compliant when they finish tearing it all to the ground, they retain part of his salary and move Zaitsev back out to someone else. 

 

  Ottawa gets blessed cap relief to go get someone they really want.

 

  Win/win for both teams.
