Its that time again ... I did it last year when Charlie O'Connor put out his survey.  I will do it again.

"Last week, we asked subscribers to participate in The Athletic’s fourth annual Flyers fan survey. Now, with a grand total of 1,583 respondents, it’s time to check out the results."

"They are slightly more positive than in 2022. But only slightly."

I will skip some of the redundant questions .......

The good news for the Flyers? The fans gave them a better score this year.

The bad news? While 2.02 is an improvement over 1.77 (2022), it’s still very low.

It’s been a long fall in this survey for the Flyers in the “overall health” question, which was all the way up at 4.15 in the midst of the pandemic-driven shutdown of the NHL in 2020 — mirroring the fall of the organization as a whole. At the very least, the purge of Chuck Fletcher and the retirement of Dave Scott appear to have arrested the slide in terms of fan perception, but the organization still has a long way to go in order to return to past heights. Nearly three-quarters of respondents rated the health of the organization at a “1” or “2,” which is up from last year’s ugly 87.3 percent mark but still reflective of pervading discontent.

In the fans’ eyes, this is still not a healthy organization.

The approval of the Briere hire in particular is notable in just how overwhelming it is. While concerns have been expressed regarding Briere’s relative lack of experience in an NHL front office and his connections to the unpopular Fletcher, it appears that the vast majority of voters are open to giving him a shot.

Voters extend the same courtesy to Jones, though it’s notable that the Briere hire received a significantly higher approval rating than the Flyers’ former color commentator received. He still easily cleared the 50 percent mark, but it looks like there are those who liked the Briere hire but remain skeptical as to whether Jones was the right pick to serve as president of hockey operations.

Note I reversed the last 2 questions on the poll by accident...

Almost a copy of the organizational health question. Flyers fans are still very skeptical of Comcast Spectacor — but their view of ownership is at least a bit better than it was this time last year, and ticking closer to where it was in 2021, when this question was first asked.

2021: 2.20
2022: 1.74
2023: 2.05

40 percent rated their confidence in the 4-5 range. Clearly, they were impressed with Tortorella’s ability to make the Flyers a more competitive bunch despite their obvious lack of high-end talent throughout the roster in 2022-23.

Still have almost ~25% (rate 1 or 2) that still do not believe in Torts.
