TropicalFruitGirl26
2023 version of the Panthers definitely was the more talented team overall, with much better mix of skill and grit up and down the lineup. Both teams, however, in their time, were impressive in how they reached the Finals: 2023 team with the record setters, highly favored teams, and division winners they knocked off in a brutal Eastern Conference... 1996 team, with their defense-first mentality and bunch of muckers n grinders pounding their way to the Finals past some heavily favored teams as well. Thing is, the '96 team, the way they were built, weren't likely to repeat anything....I mean, how often was "The Beezer" gonna have to save their skins so the grinders can continue wearing down the opposition? Meanwhile, the 2023 team, despite finishing as the 8th seed, SHOULD have actually been higher had they played up to their potential, but, they still have the infrastructure in place to come back and make more runs in the coming seasons. I will say, even though I think the '23 team is better than the '96 one, I would take a Vanbeisbrouck backstopping my team over Bobrovsky every single time!
