yave1964 Posted August 30, 2023 Share Posted August 30, 2023 Movement in the transaction column has begun again, teams are offering PTOs to players and signing ECHL and AHL vets to fill out minor league rosters. With that said, a surprising number of NHL regulars are still without a job including... Patrick Kane. Coming off surgery Kane wants to heal and is eyeballing picking his own team around mid year. Ethan Bear in the same boat, likely returning around the all star break and a team in need of depth defenseman could do worse. Josh Bailey, Tomas Tatar Paul Stastny all can contribute none signed. Eric Staal, Phil Kessel, Zach Parise, Wayne Simmonds all likely to retire, none have announced but the phone ain't ringing. Same for Brian Elliott and Alex Elder Dadonov and Holden. Someone really should give a league minimum contract to Adam Erne, Danton Heinen, Tyler Motte and Max Comtois all of whom can contribute still. Guys like Demers, Del Zotto, Brassard and Stephan are almost certainly done as well. So maybe six to eight players who should have jobs waited too long, another fifteen to twenty are waiting for calls that they know in their hearts likely will never come.
