Earned Interest % - Doesn't Make Sense.

Ok, just a couple of questions/thoughts on the interest %'s teams are offering...

1st, what rational is Minnesota using on offering 10% interest verse the Flyers offering 2%? The Flyers are by far the richer team hence they could afford way more in interest payments. But, maybe the Flyers don't care about issuing refunds because they are so rich so they don't offer the high % incentive. Maybe Minnesota NEEDS the ticket money to remain in their account hence they offer a bigger carrot to the fans to keep it there rather than issue refunds. In essence, the Wild are choosing a short term gain to keep the money while taking a hit long term in having to give up that 10% to the ticket holders.

Would the fans in Minnesota really be ok with the Wild keeping their money for a year to get 10% interest IF (IF) the team raises prices by say 5-10% next year??? That would basicaly mean the fans gave the wild their money for free for a year (or half or however long).

Assuming (for an easy example) that an entire season is lost, then this years ticket money would get applied to next year PLUS the 10% interest. Is that how it works? Then, in that case, the wild are hurting themselves for the next 2 years after this one (so really a three year hit). This year they lose all the secondary income (non-season tickets sold, parking, concessions, ect). Then next year they owe 100% of the money all their season ticket holders spent this year but deserve next year. Then the 3rd year, they still owe that 10% off to all the season ticket holders that took them up on the offer...

Do I have that right? Seems like it will take the teams half the length of the next CBA just to clear the mess up. I suppose maybe the Wild have no other way based on what their financials are today but if the rich teams are smart, they should just give refunds and limit the pain to one year. In essence, this makes the rich teams more powerful while the weak teams bleed out longer and get weeker.

Isn't that what they are trying to avoid?

Thoughts? I might have this all backwards...
