hf101
With the 30th pick of HF.net's NHL Mock draft the Toronto Maple Leafs select 6'1" 170lb defenseman Dennis Cholowski from Chilliwack (BCHL). Cholowski jumped to #23 from #48 from midyear to the final central scouting rankings and will be heading to St. Cloud next season to study electrical engineering. Since he still needs some growing time for his weight to catch up to his 6'1" frame and the NCAA is a great decision for him. Cholowski can do it all as he produced the fifth-most points of any defenceman in the BCHL (12 goals, 28 assists, 40 points in 53 games). He possesses both solid skating and puck moving ability with a high hockey IQ that is impressive. He plays a 200 ft game, moving the puck well along the blue line, taking few penalties, and is defensively responsible in his own end. Lastwordonsports.com scouted Cholowski and noted, “He seems to always be in the right position. He keeps attackers to the outside, keeping himself between the puck and the net at all times.”
