Red Wings 2021-2022

The Wings have been looking much better recently. The Defense corps is the weak link, rarely do we see any poise on their breakout passing. I believe Stevie will bring in a couple of stalwart defensemen next year to couple with Hronek and Seider. With the growth of our young forwards this season, they will compete for a playoff position next year, as long as they bring in a couple of solid D-men. Here’s hoping the trade deadline brings a bit more talent !!

I actually give our defense a little more credit, especially in these last 8 games or so. I have been pleasantly surprised defensively. You are not wrong about the first pass out of the zone, in general. It IS better now than 20 games ago though! Back then, they were passing 4-5 times just to get it out of the zone...IF they actually got it out!

The play of the forwards has seen marked improvement for the last 8-10 games or so. Some of Yzerman’s adds—Fabbri and Erne come to mind—are starting to pay off or pay off more than before. Even Stecher is coming around to some degree. Not necessarily a main part of the answer, but enough to buy the time we need without looking ridiculous.

I am enjoying watching Red Wing hockey consistently these last 8 games or so—ever since the Blackhawk 3rd period breakdown. Since then, they have started to even figure out their power play—something they haven’t done since Z was playing.

Well, I am not a big fan of Merrill or Nemeth. I try to imagine how good they would look with upgrades to those two in particular. I’m enjoying watching the youngsters. Larkin; Fabbri and Zadina are all something special. Would love to see Mantha get back into game shape(je is getting there) and can’t wait to get Bertuzzi back. I like where Stevie is going.
