  1.  C'mon guys, I know the Flyers haven't had a stellar start to the season but once the offense starts clicking this team will be closer to the top of the standings. Flyers goaltending and D has looked pretty good they just need to score some goals. Hopefully the Flyers will use the game vs Rangers on Thurs to bounce back because the Rangers aren't doing a whole lot better than the Flyers.\

    Fingers crossed.;)
  2. Than there's this....

    http://www.csnphilly.com/hockey-philadelphia-flyers/flyers-learning-ugly-goal-canucks-game

''Jakub Voracek said that Tye McGinn, whose play was inspirational in two games, gives him energy on the first line. Berube doesn’t want to hear that, especially given Voracek is averaging barely one shot a game on the top line when he should be averaging three shots a night. “I don’t know why he is relying on Tye to give him energy,” Berube said. “Hopefully, that is not the case.''

How does a 5+yr player like Voracek get inspiration from a rookie like McGinn? Something is terribly wrong in Flyer-Land.

  3. How they showed effort? Where was the effort on the third and second goal? Alone man hangin in from of the goalie, with center and D out of position. Same type of missing assignment like the Bertuzzi goal from last game. Nothing changed

Some players like MvGinn they showed, but as team - none

And if you listen to the post-game interviews Giroux and Berube you must be thinking that we play the best hockey ever,

I agree on this^^ but one thing. When a D man is taken out of position to go after the opposing puck carrier an offensive player is supposed to fill his slot, this didn't happen and left an opposing forward alone in front of Mason. Best example of this is the Higgins goal(Vancouver Game) when Grossman left to chase one of the Sedins behind the net and nobody filled Grossman's spot and thus left Higgins all alone in front of Mason to score a quick goal. Don't fault Grossman for that, fault one of the forwards.

This is all on the offensive lines on this team, Mason has been great and our D has been pretty good most of the time.

  4. The only guy I saw last night in front of the net was Simmer, the rest seemed to scared to park themselves in front of the opposing team goalie. Giroux down right looked lazy and out of gas last night, can this guy skate anymore? The goal where Higgins scored on the Flyers last night was once again a offense collapse and it put Grossman out of position and left Higgins all by himself in front of Mason, why can't our offense cover the D?

  5. Nice to see Mason do well in net, his youth is a plus and he never really had a team in front of him in Columbus. Kind a hope he works out like Bob did for Columbus, would be nice for both teams. Goalies don't really hit their prime til around 27/28 years old.

  6. I still think he's going to be traded. I like the kid as a human being but I just don't see a star player. Same with Brayden Schenn. Hope I'm wrong

Couts would be great trade bait and doesn't seem to click with the Flyers (ie. JVR) but I doubt the Flyers will trade B.Schenn especially now as he is the only one scoring on this team. Couts is a cheap pickup for a team that needs a 2way forward and will probably net the Flyers a solid young D man in return....Cody Franson?

  7. At all...

Yes everyone is correct, Rosehill never made it to the box. It was really a dumb play on his part. Could have cost the Flyers the game.

Why is Rosehill on the ice or in a Flyers uniform? Bring up McGinn, Raffl or anybody else. Aren't the Flyers tired of goon stereotypical Broad Street type players yet?

  8. Do you think, by extension, that Holmgren probably shouldn't be (and maybe isn't being) held accountable for the Richards/Carter trades (and maybe even the Bob move) since they were pretty much necessitated by the Bryzgalov signing

Don't get me started about losing Richie and Bob....makes me sooooo angry!

  9. Well, I'd actually stick him in the press box or the ice cream stand, but I think it would get me fired fairly quickly given the fact moron GM gave him such a big raise and moron owner doesn't want his money wasted (despite evidence to the contrary)

Ice Cream stand would be funny, Flyers could stick a red nose and big squeaky shoes on Hartnell.

  10. Not what I would do.   I would leave the Lecavalier line exactly as shown above but would call it the first line.

I would get fat ass Hartnell off a scoring line.   I know with the money he makes he should be on a scoring line, but I'm not the dumb ass that gave him that money.

    Lacavalier, Schenn, Voracek

    Giroux, Read, Simmonds

Courturier, Hartnell, Talbot   (I really don't like Talbot on this line.  I just don't like him with Courturier.  I'd be tempted to move Rinaldo here)

    Hall, Rinaldo, Rosehill/Newberry/Pretzel Guy

    The defense is a cluster.

    1st pair:  Streit/Schenn

    2nd pair:  Timonen/Coburn

    3rd pair:  Grossman/Gus

I'm aware Streit's defense sucks, but I put him up there for the offense and the stretch pass we're missing since we ran Matt Carle out of town.  (I'll just take a moment to repeat that I liked him the entire time he was here).    Timonen is too old for first pair minutes plus first unit power play.  He'll last better and will maintain strength longer at the second pair.   Plus, Coburn seems to play better when paired with Timo.

There is nothing to be gained by playing Mezarros at this point.  I know we're trying to shop him, but he's playing so poorly that this aim is not being helped.   Sit him in the press box and play the kid.  We could use his outlet pass and playmaking ability a lot more than anything Mez can provide at this point (NOTHING!).

1st unit power play:   Lecavalier, Giroux (on wing), Voracek, Streit, Gus

2nd unit power play:  Couturier, Schenn, Simmonds, Timonen, Coburn

Harts face would match his hair if you stuck him on the 3rd line...lol

  11.

According to Carchidi, these were the combos at practice:

Claude Giroux centering Scott Hartnell and Wayne Simmonds.
Vinny Lecavalier centering Brayden Schenn and Jake Voracek.
Sean Couturier centering Max Talbot and Matt Read.
Adam Hall centering Zac Rinaldo and Jay Rosehill.
Defense: Kimmo Timonen-Luke Schenn; Braydon Coburn-Nick Grossmann; Andrej Meszaros-Mark Streit.

Not necessarily what I would have thought, but interesting.

    No,no ,no....

Giroux should be with Voracek and Read

    Lecavalier with Hartnell and Schenn

    Couts with Simmer and Talbot

Where is Homers magic man Newbury he called up?

Get Rosehill out and put Newbury in.

  12. Vinny was not what this team needed.  Especially with that monster contract he now has.  Vinny is 33 and his numbers have been steadily dropping year by year.  I would have rather Homer just say "thank you I pass" and let the younger guys develop.

Streit...sorry has not impressed me at all so far.  (another 35+ contract) Meanwhile Guss sits in the pressbox.

Vinny has looked like the best guy out there so far and has a goal and assist.

Like I said about Streit, too early to tell. Gus was terrible in pre-season but that's pre-season.

  13. So not a single player in the entire league can make this team better?

Not saying that in the future just right now but who is available that will fix this team? I look at the offense the Flyers have and I shake my head. What the Flyers need is a spark up their ass and to get rid of aging slow defensemen but that takes a lot more than a single trade. The management needs to go before they start shipping out players.
