  1. I am looking for this to be another hard-fought game. The Coyotes are a very hard-working, gritty team. In the previous game, the Hawks won in a shootout, and it was definitely not an easy victory.
  2. @jammer2 You were very close! It ended 3-2 after the marathon shootout that would not end until Ben Smith finally won it. I think each team used at least ten shooters. I was wondering if they were going to make the goalies shoot (No way, but it would have been funny).
  3. Let's hope it's a replay of the previous game, where the Hawks won 5-2 and Marian Hossa scored twice! The Hawks have done well overall during their annual "Circus Road Trip" (where they play nearly a whole month on the road because the Barnum and Bailey Circus is at the United Center). Although challenging travel-wise, I think the Circus Trip gives the Hawks time to bond as a team.
  4. @goalnut3133 What a finish! Raanta had quite a cool head above his shoulders after those Flames goals. The Hawks have been making it a habit lately of scoring goals in bunches to tie the game or go ahead. I believe there were 18 seconds left when Kane put the Hawks ahead ... that was reminiscent of the Hawks' Cup-clinching game.
  5. @jammer2 Both goalies had a great game, but particularly Berra, whom the Hawks peppered with shots in the third period. I agree ... great call on the score, and I really think you should pick goalnut's lottery numbers!
  6. I think it will be a good game. The Jets are a difficult team for me to predict, but I picked them to beat the Islanders.
  7. This should be an interesting rematch. In the previous game, Flames rookie netminder Reto Berra made 42 saves in a 3-2 Hawks shootout loss. I think the Hawks will have a better game tonight!
  8. @goalnut3133 Two seasons ago, the Hawks lost some really ugly games to the Oilers, one of those was 8-4, I think, and the other was 9-2 or some ridiculous score like that. The Hawks couldn't do anything right in either of those games. Last season, the Oilers beat the Hawks to give them two losses in a row after that amazing points streak to start the season. "PS-- you need to bring some duct tape to work after a game for your co-workers..haha!" I'll keep that in mind, especially with one of my coworkers. It's like we're brother and sister and he always has to pick on me. It's all good-natured, though.
  9. @Rink Rat That sounds a bit like my brother when he lived in Madison, WI for a short time before moving back to Michigan ... I kept telling him that Chicago is geographically closer than Detroit ... By the way ... welcome to the HockeyForums!
  10. Keith Acton looks a lot like David Kaplan from SportsTalk Live.
  11. Well, looks like the Hawks have broken the Oilers' "nemesis effect", with a convincing 5-1 win.
  12. Wow ... I haven't heard about this yet. Hey goalnut ... do you think the Oilers are turning into the Canucks' top rival? I still have to check the sports shows here to see if there's any talk. The Chicago sports talk and news shows (SportsTalk Live and SportsNet Central) would never miss an opportunity to discuss any such incident if it involves the Canucks.
  13. @goalnut3133 From what I read of the hockey picks threads lately, it's unlikely I'd cheer for LA against your team, either. I think the Hawks are breaking their "nemesis curse" against the Oilers. I'm watching this on DVR right now, but a coworker of mine already told me the Hawks won.
  14. It's time for a rematch for the Hawks and the Edmonton Oilers. It will be an interesting game, for the same reasons stated in my game thread about 2 weeks ago. Will the Oilers continue to be the Hawks' nemesis? Or will the Hawks turn the tables? The Hawks won the first game of this series, but it was a hard-fought win and could have gone the other way. Unfortunately, I will probably have to wait for tomorrow to watch this one because I had a busy day at work and have to make sure I get to sleep early for another busy workday tomorrow. By the time the game begins, it will be time for me to go to sleep. -_- Then, I'll have to avoid the score-spoilers at work.
  15. @goalnut3133 Toews is a lot like Yzerman, whom he grew up cheering for, so it's not mere coincidence that Toews wears #19. That's also one reason why Toews is my favorite player - Yzie was my favorite when he was still playing and I was still living in Michigan. The way the Hawks scored those two goals ... that was amazing! And don't worry ... it's very unlikely I'd cheer for Boston against your team ... unless there's something in it for the Hawks (probably not).
  16. @yave1964 That's true. I know they played the Blackhawks pretty tough a month ago, also. My dad tends to complain a lot when the Wings get roughed up ... luckily, I haven't heard too much of that in Wings-Hawks matchups.
  17. @hf101 Is it just me, or is Ottawa getting to be a nasty team? My dad thinks the Senators got away with quite a bit, also. Datsyuk getting hit on the chin? Ouch ...
  18. @yave1964 Very interesting ... Unfortunately, I haven't been able to keep up as much on my former hometown team, though. My dad told me the Wings are having injury issues. I hope the Wings can get off the slide soon. I would like to see them against Boston since the Blackhawks don't play that night until I'm supposed to go to sleep since I have to work on Thanksgiving (Boooooooooooo - uuuuuuuuuuuuuurns!).
  19. @goalnut3133 It looks good on you ... I've lost my share of these kinds of bets years ago, so I've been there ... I was holding my breath near the end of the game as the Canucks peppered Crow with shots. Some of those could really have gone in. The Hawks were just fortunate to have won a game where IMO we didn't quite have it.
  20. @bunnyman "Back home, my in laws are uuge Bristol City supporters. One cousin is a Rovers supporter, and he has been banned from family gatherings." Aww man ... that's gotta be tough. Especially with Thanksgiving around the corner ... Most of the sports fans in my family come from my Dad's side. My late mother (rest in peace) was a big basketball fan and would watch other teams besides the Pistons (I'd try to make her a Bulls fan), but her side of the family didn't really follow sports.
  21. @goalnut3133 Well, this was a good game! The Hawks won, but it really could have gone the other way had Crow not stood on his head. Okay, I must get down to business now and give you your new signature for a week!
  22. One more thing ... I voted for the team discipline option on the poll. It certainly affected the game in the first pierod ...
  23. Canucks still up 1-0 after two periods Not too much going on in the second period. Both sides had some good chances, though. Duncan Keith is having a good defensive game, but so is the Canucks' team D.
  24. Umm ... I'm not liking where this is going right now Vancouver is up 1-0 because the Hawks, who are supposed to be the least-penalized team in the league, can't stay the heck out of the box. Roberto Luongo is having a good game thus far, and Ryan Kessler put the Canucks up 1-0 while Brandon Saad and Andrew Shaw were sitting in the box being mocked by the GREEN MEN!
  25. @hockey77 Welcome to hockeyforums.net! It's always good to have new posters here! I remember John Scott when he was a Blackhawk ... it seems like he has gotten a nastier edge since leaving sweet home Chicago.
