  1. @Flyingswede So, we have seen the best of McGinn, a guy a measley 6 games into his NHL career???....I like what I see, but he could be a flop, a wicked power forward, I would suggest somewhere in betwee, but *of course* he will get better with experience....or at least that is what I can see, from the very small sampling I've witnessed thus far.

I just think Mcginn is playing his best game right here right now! to earn a roster spot. Like welwood last year... im not getting excited anymore for rookies playing great for a month or two on the regular season. Looking at our roster now , its poor! You cant replace richards, carters, jvr's with this and think it will last a whole season or thru a cup race. Thats why I think its a in between season for us.

  2. How can you possibly cite Schenn for JVR as a dumb trade? I'll take Schenn's luggage over JVR. I bet Schenn has flushed better than JVR. There's other odd-ball moves to cite, but this ain't one of them. JVR was worthless out of the womb.

Im not saying I rather have JVR than L.Schenn on the roster but I think it was a desperate move by homer. I think we could have got something better for JVR.

  3. I think we have seen the best of McGinn! im mean, what you see is what you get. JVR will probebly score a whole lot more goals in the future. So what we really should ask us is: Luke Schenn VS JVR. That trade was a NO BRAINER...

  4. Hi! happy it's on? well, im happy. Nice to watch NHL again but I just dont care how it goes. Im looking forward for october 2013. This year our team isnt exactly exciting. team! Our roster is mediokre and I dont think we have a chance on the cup, not even the playoffs. Dont mean to whine, I will enjoy watching our games but im taking it for what its worth. This is a warm up, the real season begins in october 2013 and I expect Homer to make major moves this summer. Im glad we have a decent youth core anyway.

  5. The sad thing about the lockout is that whatever happens the owners are the winners. The lockout is a lost for the players and the fans and the sport. Why? NHL is a business and the owners doesnt fall with NHL. I wish all sport teams were owned by the cities or cooperative player owned. That would keep sallarys down, tickets down so people actually could afford to see the games.

  6. I wish Gustafsson had a better shot, a better slapshot, but maybe he can grow one. Skating, position, passing and playmaking (understanding the game) I think he knows and handles well and i think he will be better on all that. Just wish his slapshot gets harder so we can use him more on the PP but he have never had one and never been knowed as a good slapper.

  7. Weber seems to be very happy about staying in Nashville with his new gigantic contract. Are we used? I dont think so.

As I see it, its like this.

Weber is heading to flyers, signs the offer. Preds match it.

What can he do to save his popularity to the preds fans. He is a player who signed an offer from flyers and he is now costing ALOT of money. The fans cant be over excited.

I think adding the no trade clause is to gain lost popularity (after all, he is their captain) he also talks about "love" everything about nashville... just for the fans to forget how their club will bleed money on this dude.

  8. So where we it right now. We have lost Jagr gained Fedotenko and lost Carle. I think the fedotenko signing is good but he bring everything else than Jagr. Im confident we will see more of Shenn, Cooter but at the same time Briere might be worse than last year. I mean, we cant relie on him anymore really. I do want to see some playmaking coming in. Maybe wait and se how its flow but the dangerous thing about wait is if the ship began to sink its very very hard to stop it, despite adding new players. We should have learned. Start the season well prepared! Im not so worried about our defense. Sure Carle was a decent defenseman and important to our PP and offense but I think the lack of Jagr or a playmaker is worse. Lock how much he ment for Giroux. Giroux deserves playing with a good playmaker. Good things will happen then.

  9. I like the moves so far. Nothing big but that can be good. All the FAs that got their deals this year I believe are ALL overpaid. 4.5 for Jagr? 5.5 for Carle? seriously? Parise and Suter practically get Crosby money? I believe it was @flyercanuck that observed in another thread that NOT getting these guys and their ridiculous rates can only be a good thing for the Flyers. All players mentioned could have been used by the Flyers, But not at the rates they went for. Just goes to show what a limited amount of FAs can do to their going rates.

The Flyers have much needed cap space to work with this season. The offseason is NOT over. Trades can still happen. But so far so good.

PS, I still can't believe we'll be watching Leaky this year.

To be honest im EXCITED we didnt sign Parise and Suter for that money, huah. And Carle isnt worth 5.5 in my book, and Jagr isnt worth 4,5 no way. But if we go this into next season we might just be fighting for a PO spot. But im sure Homer will cook something up. He is kinda trigger happy coming to trades

  10. Our shot-down defense is better with L Schenn and N Grossman now. So thats positive. But ofcourse we need to fill the hole of Carle. As I see hockey the play from defensmen is very important. I think in a couple of years Gustafsson can be that guy but right now we need to sign a puck moving defensman or else our team will be very very easy to read. After a few weeks every team will understand we never attacks with defensmen or there will not be any dangerous opening passes from our end.

  11. The Philadelphia Flyers doesnt have patience to let a Rookie golie grow. Just checkout our last 15 years. I also think Bob might be a good golie in 2-3 years. Not worse than Bryz anyway. Instead we sign Bryz, who is old, for a huge price. I PROMISE Bryz wont last long on this team. I think he will be around 1 year more.

On the other side, I dont care if we trade Bob. But I do care about our goliesituation and wonder WHY we cant afford for ONCE have patience with a rookie golie. When you let young players grow in an organisation good things happens. I think stanley cup winners proves it, year after year. Consistency and patience. And New York Rangers and Toronto Maple Leafs proves it too by doing it all wrong year after year, the only thing Rangers have done good last years is believing in Lundquist

  12. Remember your post and my response: If he's another Nash in 3-4 years (assuming you mean Nash until now, not Nash post-Heatley car ride), I'll send you your favorite case of beer.

I'll copy that! You better be around in about 3-4 years then :D;)

  13. Its kind of reminds me of the Clarkes trade: Justin Williams for Danny Markov. Markov did a huge first season with us and right then I loved that trade. In long term, not so much. I've got a bad feeling Luke will get a fresh start and make 1-2 better seasons than he had with the leafs and then maybe not develop much more. But who knows. I dont think JVR will have a great next season, but in 3-4 years he might just be a Rick Nash.

  14. I think JVR have potential to be a big strong power forward scoring 40 goals/season. But Schenn have also potential to be a top defenseman. Defensemen often needs more time to be really good. So in a couple of years we might have a really solid defenseman in Schenn. JVR have been to incosistent and unrealible. Right now it seems like the leafs won that trade, I was hoping for a better player than Schenn straight up for JVR. But, at the same time, we might overrated JVR just becouse he was a 2nd draft pick. How good has he been? not near 2nd draft pick if you look down the range of 2nd draft picks. I dont think his value on the market is that high really. And good defensemen is always more expensive than forwards, becouse they are few. Hopefully Schenn gets a good start here.

  15. Right, this idea that you give a guy the C with the thought that he'll grow into it is completely ridiculous. They did it with Richards and they did it with Lindros, both were colossal mistakes that prevented the player from developing his game without an unrealistic spotlight. You don't make a guy captain because of his potential to be a good leader, you let him develop that trait and give him the job if/when he's ready and earned it.

    SPOT ON!
