  1. that would be excellent. I'd still like to figure out some ways for calls to be review-able but not eat up too much time. There's tons of ripe examples but that Talbot stick to the face non-call sticks out to me. If they didn't see it fine, but he certainly didn't do it to himself so they should look at it to see how it happened. Also, calls where the ref that is further away has his arm up and the ref that is right there doesn't should also be looked into. Like maybe the ref that is further away has to confer with the ref that is closer to see if he saw the same thing. Again, it'd be confusing to play thinking there "may" be a penalty only to find out there wasn't but there has to be some way for those borderline calls being made by the further away ref can be evaluated better. My suggestions may not be the right answers but the system has flaws and needs some tweaking, that much I do know.
  2. AND let the guy that was supposed to get a penalty walk free instead of taking both of them off. Like the ref can say "well, he was going to get a penalty but you dove so he doesn't and YOU do".
  3. I always thought the reason we didn't resign him was because of his playoff performance, he was going to look for a raise (he was due a new deal) and the Flyers didn't want to give him a raise, or even pay him what he was making, so they let him walk. That's when the Penguins picked him up for less than what we were paying him. That's all speculation on my part though since I had hoped they would've resigned him and never really saw any articles about him that would've indicated anything either way. When he signed with the penguins, I immediately wondered if the Flyers had an opportunity to resign him at that amount.
  4. I liked Langkow too but you're right, I'd much rather have what he turned into than the player himself to this point.
  5. Unfortunately I didn't see this game so I can't weigh in completely. So while I didn't see the Briere highstick, I can say that if I imagine getting a stick to the head, even if it was just the helmet, it'd surprise me and maybe have me freak out a little. Was it a blatant sell job or could it have been close enough to go either way? But I do agree completely about the diving though, regardless of if they are in the O&B or not. Carcillo drove me nuts with his head flail. That one he did, forget which game, where the replay showed that not only did absolutely nothing touch him, but his head flail was delayed as well. That's embarrassing. And has no place in the game, Flyers or anyone else.
  6. pretty cool too that his ear holes aren't circles but a silhouette of the Ducks logo. I wonder if that part is going to be a trend moving forward. I like it
  7. Shanahan shouldn't have to rule on anything here. Yeah, Richards got hurt but that was definitely a clean, hard hit.
  8. I for one wish we had gotten Smith sooner. He was a great captain and it would've been nice to have had him around a little longer. I almost wonder what would've been with Richards had Smith been around longer. Coulda taught the kid what real leadership was and perhaps Richards would've been given the captaincy at the right time, as opposed to the rushed schedule I and many other believe occurred.
  9. exactly my point. I wasn't implying he wouldn't be in. I said IF he wasn't in then we'd have something to talk about... I wasn't cryptic was I?
  10. they gave him much longer than I would've predicted, that's for sure.
  11. if Schenn ISN'T in the lineup the next game, we will all definitely have something to talk about. There is no reason at this point with all the injuries you mentioned why he wouldn't play
  12. when I saw that I felt really bad for him. He was wearing smiles along with the jersey but the whole time I'm thinking "they told him he no longer fits with their plans, and yes I know they are still paying him but isn't this just an insult now?" If he wasn't playing solely cause he was hurt that'd be one thing, but not this.
  13. Indeed, no need to force the issue. His play is just fine without a letter.
  14. that's a decent guess. I'm also thinking that the last game Nodl played, he left early due to injury when he and Briere skated into each other. Maybe he got the waive since because he was recently banged up, no body would bother going for him, kinda like Betts? Or maybe this team is really ready to move on from Nodl.
  15. this is a good opportunity for the league to show that they don't play favorites and will look at EVERYTHING and give out suspensions equally across the board. I'm of the thought that nothing will come of this though. So much for giving the guy his due respect. I actually felt bad for him the off season. You can't talk out of both side of your mouth and still expect respect.
  16. Wow is right. Thankfully this video continued to play while I reply, not sure if I would've made it through the whole thing otherwise
  17. Really? I myself was wondering when they were going to make the change. They've had a good team, but needed to change something up. Too much talent to get the same results they've gotten over the last couple years
  18. indeed Airplane, that always made me laugh!
  19. Indeed they did. It was a fun game while it was close but once the Rangers got that second goal it just became frustrating. And yeah, another solid D man would definitely help!
