agreed. it would be a bad move for a guy down to his last few years.

@idahophilly Yep, ya gotta wonder Idaho, is this just the tip of the iceberg.....weird, watching the opening ceremony on CBC....and not one mention of this foiled terrorist plot....rather odd, dont'cha think?
I gotta wait until tonight to see the opening.

and lets just face it, the curling team wasn't gonna be a contender anyway.
-
I wish there were NO Flyers playing over there much less any Americans (Canada included)....
-
yeah i didn't know dale earnhardt was in the bobsled competition
The rest of the world already hates us. Now there gonna really hate us or maybe, just maybe, this is how we defeat our enemies by making them laugh themselves to death....

I got nothing to say but WOW !

Glad G isn't going.

and, everyone is always complaining we dont look to the future. Well, Richards and Carter were "the" here and now and it wasn't working out. So he (Homer) looked to the future, which is what JUST about everyone had/hase been screaming for and 3 years later we are still bitching about it.... Homer can't win....

Woulda, coulda , shouda. They both were poison and I'm happy with what we got. I don't even care a little bit LA won the cup. Figure out what you got in return and try and make a path to success. Would we be better off with Richards or Carter or Both? I doubt it.

Such anger....

all I'm going to say is a performance review at my corporation is based on the risks and rewards earned by an employee and what you did in the past, hence "performance review" not "projecting review". He should let it go but the numbers don't lie. We seriously got the best of that trade, AT this point. We'll see.

Very sad. I really liked him and his speed. But, when one door closes many times a second opens....

Well, I'm not crushed, just dissapointed.
Since this is a done deal for the most part, lets hope G gets some rest and that Vor, Timmo and Raffl don't get hurt. I just hope Timmo has something left in the tank come mid-March.

and not to hog the thread, there is one more possibility...
Maybe SY is crazy like a fox and already knows one or two guys are gonna get replaced, opening the door for a couple (G/Richards) of players.
-
anything anyone did last year has that caviot attached and then to say G won't be on the team because of a freak summer golfing accident that took a long time to heal just doesdnt seem right to me. But I do agree, the Ryan thing is worse...
-
also, a short season DOES scew everything. Some guys had to train on their own, some went to Europe, some couldnt because of insurance and contract issues and still others like Hartnell played a charity game or two. And these guys are ALWAYS gonna have a "but" followed by a "because" on any accomplishments they made because THEY know it wasnt an even playing field...
-
I don't care for shortened seasons either, but you can't just ignore them because you don't like em. You're talking to me about a player's full body of work and want to completely disregard a portion of it because you don't like it.
Even if they did ignore it - and I'm doubting Team Canada did - Giroux still struggled out of the gate this year. Olympic teams are essentially all-star teams and they can be based on who is hot right now.
Judging a full body of work is just that, NOT a portion as you say. Now, Who is hot right now? G is one of the hottest players in the league, right now... Not last year, not 2 months ago. Right now...

You think? I don't think it's that tough to swallow. Two years in a row now he really struggled out of the gate.
I'm sorry, but I throw last year out as far as Im concerned. Easy for a Flyers fan to say when they didn't make the playoffs. But EVERYONE and EVERY record from last year has an asterix next to it. It was just a bitter screwed up year in which no one can judge a full body of work.
-
It sucks for him, but I'm kinda happy about it. Let him get some rest. Save himself for the NHL (and the playoffs).Im trying to say that myself, so long as he doesn't get rusty or anything....
And as an aside, I'm not down on Canada, just don't like the decisions they made. I know G struggled but there WERE clear cut reasons why and anyone watching knows G is close to being back to where we thought he should have been. There are hot and cold streaks so what I say is that while we cant go on what he could have done which would be about a 96 point season had he not gone golfing it does show that even after a horrendous start he is probably gonna get 70 some points if not crack 80.... I think that taken in its complete context is Olympic worthy.

Go Austria! (yeah, I am joking!)

Geez, Logan Couture, Claude Giroux, Marty St.Louis, Eric Stall, James Neal....some wickedly good players left offAnd Jagr said that not all the best players from Cananda can make the team and that's true but even if G was STILL left of the team no one can tell me that atleast on of your mentioned players should not have made the team. Not ONE of them? Almost as confusing as Ryan not making it....

so, what possible piece can we move for a faster D-man and not morgage the future which admittley we have all complained about before. Now Emery is down and what the he ll is up with Timmo not playing "because he is tired"? I'm tired allot of days but I go to work.... Just saying.
