"Giroux wins Allstar MVP. That, along with Gritty = better than a CUP" overheard from Flyer mgmt"
The worst part is that's a totally believable headline when your hockey team is owned by an entertainment company.
I've spent more time watching the US women's team this weekend than I have watched of the Flyers for the past 2 weeks, sad but completely true

Nice trip down memory lane there, a few names I haven't thought about in a loooong time. But I don't miss Kuato...
Not here much over the last several years, but always a supporting member of this most excellent community. Thanks to everyone for keeping it going

I hope the refereeing is more like Can/Fin than this.
Ya no such luck, it's a whistle fest, although not entirely without reason to be fair....and the 5 on 3 was helpful
Dumb penalty by Zamula at the second break there, haven't seem him enough to know if that's a habit of his or not.

My 1988 self hates me for saying this, but I am happy for the real Caps fans (I know a couple, they really do exist) that have been waiting for this since the old Patrick Division days. Maybe that Iggle win in the Supe made me soft....
But screw Dale Hunter, I hope he has car trouble and diarrhea on the way to the parade

March 18 in Flyers History......
1971 - Looks like they beat the stinkin' Rangers 2-1 at the Spectrum, so that's something
1994 - Flyers acquire that man-beast Rob DiMaio from Tampa for Jim Cummins and a the Flyers' 4th rounder in 1995
1995 - Eric Lindros notches a Hat Trick with OT GW against the Panthers and long time Flyer-killer / future Flyer (killer) John Vanbiesbrouck
2011 - Richards and Carter were presumably really hung over at practice
2012 - Scott Hartnell stays up long enough to score with 1 second left in OT to beat the Penguins. Out. Freakin'. Standing.

"Rocks Dumber Than I"

'Cause that's one dumb bitch right there bwahahaha

Unfortunately this one did not come true (yet)
I'm looking good in the office pool, but I'd trade that in a heartbeat to have the Craps pot one in OT last night

There once was a man from Manhattan
Whose health was so bad he took statins
When the Rangers do win
He just smiles and he grins
So I hope that he frowns like George Patton

The Rags got real lucky
That no goal call was sucky
If that had been Crosby
Conspiracies would haunt me
Of course none of this matters
Owners wallets just get fatter
As we head down the pike
How long till the next strike?

Coulda used that 5% bump a few years ago! It's only mattered to the Flyers once in 47 years, so barely a blip on my radar

Trivia Question #3: What was Craig McTavish the last NHL player to play without?
Trivia Question #4: Why did they stop the Leper Hockey Game?
#3 a helmet

Look on the bright side: at least he didn't wrap his Porsche around a concrete abutment.
Too soon?
25 year statute of limitations, you're good

Just fantasizing if I was an NHL player and had to make a list of 12 teams I would not like to be traded to.
The current list would be (in alphabetical order) -
Buffalo
Calgary
Carolina
Columbus
Dallas
Edmonton
Florida
Minnesota
Nashville (BTW hideous team colors)
NY Islanders
Phoenix
Winnipeg
Rangers Devils Caps Pens
Rangers Devils Caps Pens
Rangers Devils Caps Pens
There's my 12

One year left on his current deal, this takes him out till he's 38. Wonder if he got a NTC....
All things considered not a horrible deal, I don't how his body is holding up but 5 mil a year for a guy that chews up that kind of minutes seem fair to the market

question...how did they come by your article..did you submit it or do they view our site
I didn't submit anything to them, guessing they just stumbled across. ..actually as of a couple months ago, if you Googled Flyers STH meeting, Poulin's 2013 thread was the first thing that came up
-
Haha awesome! All credit to @Poulin20, nice to see BSH pick that up. I noticed the day that thread went up there were 1,000+ unregistered users looking at it, good traffic to site hopefully this brings some more in!

2004 Game 6 anyone?
My oldest son was 11 at the time, just getting into the Flyers for real. Time is ticking down in the 3rd period, looks like we're going to be eliminated, I'm trying to come up with the words to give him about good season and looking forward to next year....bang Primeau sends it to OT, Gagne with the winner
-
@Poulin20 20th
Glad you brought that one up, I was watching from my second home in Section 28 that day. Stunning comeback, I think the boys were actually down 4-1 with only 9 minutes left. When OT started the Caps looked completely deflated, Flyers had all the jump and wham it was over in the blink of an eye.
But of course that all led to Dale f***ing Hunter scoring on Hexy on a breakaway in OT of game 7 at the Crap Center, which was one of the most gut wrenching moments as a fan for me....and probably for most of us who are old enough to remember, but that would be a different thread entirely

Chuck, “We’re selling” proceeds to make zero trades.

Well I thought maybe since I've been out of the loop I must have just missed hearing about all these future-changing trades that are going to be the pivot point for the organizational turnaround.....
All those years we (rightly) complained about wasting the future to rent an expiring contract at the deadline, at least you could see the organization was trying to win.
Hextall's rebuild with ripping down the salary cap prison he inherited and stocking up picks and trying to build from the farm up, at least you could see the organization was trying to build a competitive team. Then Chuck parachutes in....
Now? We got nothing. We have coach that I couldn't stand for 15 years before he got here. We have Chuck. And have Comcast who, like it or not, pretty much stayed out of hockey while Mr Snider was alive. There is no desire from ownership to win, aside from the affect it has on the bottom line. And this is what we get, purgatory. A building filled to the brim with stinkin' Rags fans. The Detroit Lions of hockey is where we're headed.
STH for 30 years, former STH that is, I see no reason to go back, I already pay the cable company too much money for a subpar product.
