  1. What are everyone's thoughs on Peter Mueller? I saw an article on Philly.com outlining that he would be low risk, potential high reward and he is still only 26. I'd post the article but I'm on my iPad. He has had injury problems for sure. As a cash strapped team looking for a scoring winger I'd take a flyer...pun intended. Not to mention he currently plays for the Kloten Flyers. 8-)

  2. I will miss Hartnell...seems like a great man to sit down and have a beer with, and a real charitable guy. He was also my wife's favorite Flyer. She's not much of a hockey fan, so Hartsey's departure will probably only distance her for the sport more. Hopefully she can latch on to another personality. He is a likable player for the most part, and I wish him well. I really enjoyed the fact that he was always the first guy in to defend a teammate or backup his goalie when another team is taking liberties.

On to out current roster- I'm fine with RJ I liked him when he was here, but he doesn't replace what Hartnell provides. Need to bring in a top 6 winger. The bummer is that this doesn't dump much of his salary, so it doesn't open things up much in free agency. I'm confident that they have more up their sleeve. Should be an interesting off season.

  3. I clicked on this think it was for Patrick Kane.

    ha ha ha

um No to a couple of guys for one guy whose twitter account is all about makin' it rain pac-man style.

    pass.

I thought we were talkin Patrick too...

How goes it out in Lancaster?!

  4. It says nothing! They went to LA and lead the team to the cup and back to back conference finals appearances while the flyers exited in the 2nd round and missed the playoffs.

Neither they nor their presumed partying were obviously not the problems.

I can't believe we're still having this discussion. Carter & Richards = Cup

    Without them = crap.

    Let's review:

Every year carter and Richards have played in the playoffs their team has either won the cup, lost in the conference finals or lost to the eventual cup winner.

The flyers haven't made it out of the 2nd round (or into the playoffs at all) since they left.

We need to stop fooling ourselves on this. We pretend like th teams's better off somehow.

    There's no discussion!

The debate is over. I don't care if they were high in crack cocaine and stoned and drunk every game. The flyers were better when they were here and now the kings are Better that they are there.

I like what we got for them, but come on... A cup and conference finals are way damn better!

    That sounds perfect to me.

I know there were issues between coach/management and a few of the players.

On my end...I don't really care what issues there are.  Be adults and work them out.  All I care about is the on-ice product.  With Richards and Carter, the on-ice product was good (minus the goaltending). Without them, it's tough to watch.  Last night was completely unenjoyable and management needs to be held accountable.

We have crap players not supporting good goaltending efforts.  How the tide has turned.  It's uninspired, flat, boring hockey.  I kept thinking to myself last night as Mason made quality saves...(Someone needs to step up and produce for their goalie.  Take that energy from him constantly bailing the team out and push into the offensive zone).  Never happened.  Raffl was the only Flyer with jump.  Last night is just one example of the bad to mediocre (at best) hockey we saw last year and into this season.

Flyers' fans should be outraged.  This team is bad, and is in need of a lot of help.

  5. when's that baby going to show up ?

    ***taps foot ****

    any day now right ?

best of luck & wishes and stuff.

    bobby ryan

Haha Frankie the 3rd, or FGIII as I call him, was supposed to make his first appearance on Sunday.  He is now officially running behind, and my wife is not one for tardiness. haha

    She's definitely ready.

    Thank you and thank you.

Now on to the more serious stuff...The Flyers begin Wednesday.  haha jk obviously

Super pumped to see what this team will do in a full season with a full training camp.  I expect the youngins (Schenn & Coots) to take their games to the next level.  I'm also really interested in seeing how the goaltending tandem will work out.  I hope Mason can provide more of the flash he showed toward the end of last season.

If the kids can't play and the goalies let too many biscuits in the basket we could be looking at a repeat of last year.

Now that Bobby Ryan is a Senator (the team, not congress) (although I might consider voting for him) I feel I have to distance myself from him as I am sure he will not become a Flyer in the near future.  I will now have to find a new trade target to dwell on.

I have decided that I want Kris Versteeg back from FLA.  Second time's the charm, right?  <----That comment comes with a limited amount of sarcasm.  I like Versteeg as a player.  He should have gotten more time.

  6. Eh, who knows... I think they have addressed most of the issues that plagued them last year, now did they do it with the right players? Streit is an upgrade over last year, plus he's not near as bad a defensive player as I've been reading here, I watched the playoffs, he nutted up and was solid. Lecavalier is a huge upgrade over Briere. I'm not even going to really talk about Bryz not being a Flyer , but that' sand upgrade. Couterier will not be as bad as he was last year, there is no way, that kid is going to be as bad as he was last year. I am cautiously optimistic. Maybe not a cup favorite this year, but I think they can grow to be be a team no one wants to play. I have hope.

    Well hello there!

  7. So...Do we figure to see Bobby Ryan rumors again, or will a new name pop up? If so, who would you guys like the team to target in FA or trade??

Filppula will be a FA as will Nathan Horton, Semin & Weiss...

Couldn't find a solid Dman that wasnt pushing 40... Maybe I'm missing someone.

  8. ANAHEIM, Calif. -- The Anaheim Ducks agreed to an eight-year contract extension with right wing Corey Perry on Monday, keeping the former NHL MVP with the club through the 2020-21 NHL season.

The deal is worth $69 million for an average of $8.63 million per year, a source told ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun.

So there goes a potential off-season target. This team isn't one Corey Perry away anyway.

  9. With Z serving his suspension is there any chance Wellwood gets a shot? I'd rather Wellwood than Z anyway...And I'd much rather Wellwood than Knuble.

I know Wellwood was in the doghouse earlier in the year, but, to me, it seems he's quicker than Z and not nearly as reckless.

  10. We could also have a two-timers line:

    Gagne/Fedotenko/Knuble

    Sponsored by Cialis.

EDIT: On an slightly related note, I'm just excited that we'll see references to Lamborgagne again :)

Earlier I heard someone call the Gagne-Fed-Knuble line "The Viagra Line" haha. Thought that one was pretty good.
