  1. We have:

Leafs - win (or OT) let count as 1 point

    Bruins - lost

    Blues - lost

    Jacket - win - 2 points

    Bruins - OT - 1 point

    Sabres - win 2 points

    Panthers - win 2 points

    Tampa - win 2 point

    Penns - lost

    Canes - win 2 points

so it could 12 points in next last wuld be enough 95 points ?

  2. This team doesn’t have a real leader, a real captain for decade. All Flyers hockey is gone in the past; it looks more like weak Isles team on ice. There is no Broad Street Bullies. All Flyers origination should be shame of it.

Giroux is not captain at all. He is like that guy floating around score some goals but never took his game and team on next level. All remember, that hit on Sid 2 years ago and that's all he done for his career in Flyers. It was mistake to trade Richie, he is a character and he is guy. Sometime you don't need score goals but his toughness has an answer.

  3. It blows my mind that people will harp on the organization for not giving youth a chance, but threads like this pop up fairly regularly (maybe not weekly, but every season for sure).

The old man will never say it, but this team is rebuilding. The core players of the team (Giroux, Couturier, Schenn, Voracek, Simmons, and Mason) are an average age of like 24-25. Now is not the time to be trading one of them. The only way you do is if you get something they really need in return, but I don't see that happening, so stand pat. They should be building around these players, not trading them away. They should look to acquire a scoring winger to go along with Giroux and a defenseman. A good one, not some Streit level guy who is worthless in his own end.

I think you should start to build around defense core where is Flyers has zero, zilch. Locking and over paying to Giroux about 3 mil that could be cost Flyers a top 10 defenseman. So what is better to have good and reliable defense or guy who ca score around 25/30 goals? It will not make a difference as my view.

  4. Actually I think if Giroux had a winger like Gagne in his prime he puts up over 100 pts a season.   Heck I don't even think Giroux needs a 40+ goal scorer on his line to break 100 pts.   He needs wingers than can pot 25-30 goals.   I agree that he is not in the class of a Crosby who can make average players around him that much better but I do believe with the right pieces around him he would consistently meet or exceed his 93 pts career high.

Well, exactly. He didn't even need a Jagr "in his prime" to get to 93 points.

Now, do they go after a Vanek or would a Moulson - for example - be the "right guy"?

Both you guys have a point. So players like Sid are making 9 mil + but not players like Giroux.

I like an idea to Vanek and pair him with Giroux, that can be a very good offensive line.

But the question will open about defense, looking at Flyers now,  Grossman, Coburn and Mezarous (a very stretch may be) can keep in Flyers, all reast of these guys are not good at all.

Looking at list of defense UFA I can see Flyers can go ahead and sign with either Phillips, Chris, Hainsey, Ron, Zidlicky, Marek, Scuderi, Rob, Pietrangelo, Alex  (RFA), Bogosian, Zach (RFA), Babchuk, Anton,

Not a lot options. I might don't know some new names who has a talent.

  5. I don't think I'm being "unfair" to Giroux. Can he still grow? Sure. Is he the foundation of a franchise? No.

Simon Gagne had 79 points and 47 goals in 72 games one season.

Sure, it was the one he played with Forsberg, but... well... he never got there again. 41/68 in 76 and 34/74 in 79 then drop.

That's exactly my point. Would it be good flyers stack with him for next 7 years? Or we got lucky to have Sid or Datsyk with him on same team?

  6. Patrick Shap is also among he leaders. Clarkie said we have too many centers and that is why he was traded?

I forgot about Sharp. Well we trade Peter Forsberg as well.

I know where you are coming, and it's good question do Flyers have to trade Giroux or just keep him and sucking his salary with 70 or less point production ? Well I would  like to keep him, but with him on team Flyers can't afford top defenseman, so either Giroux or top defenseman. I don't know where to start the building the team from defense or offense. In my view defenseman prime time is coming way later than offense.

So let look at most successful organization in last 5 years, it's Blackhawks. All their top defenseman are early years picks and all top forwards are later years picks, the difference  between them around 3-4 years. So may be occurring top defensman is a priority, so we can wait top offense guys.

  7. I want to bring one more point about Giroux, in the table below he has the worst +- (-7), it's telling me he is not really good in defense as well, so as said before he is not making better players around him. Just look Pavel has +21 !!!!

  8. So I would like to put out his thread for our long argue about Giroux. Keep or Trade? Is he that Guy or just complementary player ( funny to say while writing this Giroux just score against Boston :) ).

Lets face it (Boston just score 5th one  ) Giroux had only one good year when Jagr was played for Flyers, and he will make 10 mil next and 9 mil cap hit.

Let see his performance if he is worth this money:

    2009-2010 FLYERS 82 16 31 47 -9 23 8 0 2 145 11.0

    2010-2011 FLYERS 82 25 51 76 20 47 8 3 5 169 14.8

    2011-2012 FLYEers 77 28 65 93 6 29 6 0 5 242 11.6

    2012-2013 FLYERS 48 13 35 48 -7 22 6 1 2 137 9.5

    2012-2013 EISBAREN BERLIN-GERMANY 9 4 15 19   6

    2012-2013 CANADA-WC-A 8 3 5 8 4 12 2 0 0

    2013-2014 FLYERS 52 14 32 46

So from this table we can see he did almost 100 point, what he should do as 9 mil player, only when Jagr players for Flyers. All rest  of season he is 70 points guy, so that is leading to be 6-7 mil per year player. I'm seeing him only complementary player. I can't see him suddenly become that Guy like we had Lindros, Brian Propp, Clarky. So we, well Flyers spent top buck on complementary player and what to do now? Flyers slow is dropping down in the standings and their probability to make a playoff small as me suddenly win million $ lottery.

Giroux is going to make more than Stamkov, Gezlaf, Kessel, E. Staal this just few names.

    Take look this website http://stats.nhlnumbers.com/players

Last year numbers, well season was short but it put teams in the position to fight for playoff spot from day one.

You can see he is in the top 20 but I would take Zetterberg before him. But Pavel would be even better. So I don't see him to be 9 mil player and this is my problem with him. I'm fine if he had 6-7 mil salary so Flyers might be able get better defense or talent winger for Giroux.

So I think Flyers should split the road with Giroux before summer time or his salary kick. The good thing to do is trade him for Nashville for Weber and suck for year, preparing for good draft or GOOD trade for talent scorer. Flyers have to say goodbye to Timmo, and keep Coburn, Grossman, Gastaffson and say goodbye to Luke Shenn and Mazarous. Defense lines would be good looking Weber/Coburn, Gross/Gast, and .....I'm not sure. Up front would be not bad as well. Flyers can add even Vanek (UFA after this season).

So Flyers have a lot options but to make team better in the future that need say goodbye to Giroux. Giroux is like a baby with running nose all the time, there is nothing in him to be and show Flyers hockey. Some would argue with me about Richie and Giroux, but at least Richie as captain would fight or run over the goalie in  game like today vs Boston, but this little puke did absolutely nothing expect score a meaningless goal.

    Ok Let's fun begin!

  9. The Flyers got younger, cheaper and better with the trades then. That remains true now.

The only question is turning that potential into reality.

That said, if anyone here was given the option of picking up Dustin Brown ($5.85M cap through 2022) and, say, Drew Doughty ($7M cap through 2019) and winning a Cup, I doubt there are many on this board that wouldn't take that deal.

No, there was no guarantee of winning for LA - and they didn't even pick up both at the same time - but I don't believe there is anyone in Los Angeles who would start a thread "revisiting" the Richards trade. They would think they won it, hands down.

And, for me, if the Flyers don't win a Cup before Richards retires, I would probably agree with them.

    150%.

The end is important as I'm saying on this board all the time. Who cares about fantasy hockey numbers, in the end winning a cup is ultimate goal as for player and fans as well.

Yea I can hear it now, Carter missed the net and didn't put a puck high enough to send game 7 vs Chitown, but if you's re remember Richards and Carter were the Guys why Flyers has ended up in Cup finals. So I don;t want to hear all this sheep baaa... WE DON"T HAVE A CUP STILL!!!!

  10. I'm still waiting for device that will be more like per view, something like I will be able to add programs I wanted to watch only all the time and one I will use on per view bases. I like I want Russin TV (more my wife), all sport channels, and educationals (Discovery, and ect), Velocity, BBC america, and some local news, plus some FX and kids channels I don't want movies only rent at the RedBox ($1 hard to bid).
