  1. @Vanflyer I did not get to see his pre phantom development, but that is good to know. I also believe that Gus has much more of a shot at the 7th spot. Does Bartulis have to go through re-entry waivers. If not, does Lavy hate him?
  2. @terp Interesting. I guess Pronger is still out with the Flu or whatever he has. Thankfully it is the Islanders we are playing so the pressure may be a little lower. Then again Carolina made us look flat out bad. The good thing is we will have both Pronger and Coburn back in the line up soon.
  3. Briere will be ok. He is not with the best linemates right now. I think once he and Voracek get on the same page they will be a lethal line. I like Simmonds, sort of, by this I mean at times. His skating down the boards, cruising behind the net, and either a) getting stripped or B) blindly throwing a backhand pass through the center is getting old. However, his grit, toughness and speed make him a great winger to play with Tabot and Read. I also think that Read and JvR would be good line mates with him as well. The team itself does not concern me too much with two of our top 4 out and Jagr injured, there is a lot of line shuffling going on. In regards to Bryzgalov, well he didn't have a great outing yesterday, so I won't sugar coat it, but he also has been off for a few days. I am not too sure why he didn't play Saturday. In that regards, Lavy is kind of wearing thin on me. My lines (when healthy) Hartnell-Giroux-Jagr JvR-Briere-Read Simmonds-Talbot-Voracek Rinaldo-Couturier-Harry Z Pronger-Carle Timmo-Coburn Lilja-Gus And for the love of God, please play Bryzgalov until he shows signs of fatigue. Hell Lavy played Bobrovsky I believe 12 games straight last year for crying out loud.
  4. @OR_HockeyFan It is good to see a player like Crosby return to the game. The sport needs players like him and it is a shame when a great talent is wasted becuase of injury. Anyhow, I may be singing a different tune when the Flyers face them. In regards to Pronger, right now it appears to be the Flu that is keeping him out, but he has looked like Pronger when he is in the line up. I guess for a guy like him, it's all about the minutes he is playing. The big concern to me is Mezzaros not living up to the hype. He was basically brought in the reduce the ice times of Pronger and Timmonen, yet he looks like hammered **** most nights. Talbot is one of Holmgren's best pickups. He is a total team guy and I cannot wait to see him on the HBO 24/7 again. Welcome aboard.
  5. Carter was at least honest at one point in the article "Look, it was never about Columbus".... Sure wasn't Jeff, it was all about you. I am so glad that little man child is gone. He is probably pining over his little Sea Isle City house as we speak.
  6. Bourdon I did not hear his name called too much and to me that is a good thing for a defender. Marshall seems to play with an edge, but is flat out slow to get back in position. Maybe it was fear of getting caught too deep or lack of an understanding of Lavy's system, but at the end of the day I would say Bourdon is more ready than Marshall and that is not saying much. I would rather see both of them in the AHL, but in a pinch, I would say Bourdon is ready for the 7th spot.
  7. Umberger all the way. The dude had a Flyers tattoo only to get traded. Oh well, I guess it's like getting a girls name tattoo'd on your arm.
  8. @Digityman Mind boggling how lopsided that trade was. The 2001-02 Flyers were in no shape to make a cup run and Clarke traded so much away.
  9. The one that burns my ass is the 1st game Adam Oates was a flyer. All I recall is that we: A) Lost B) Traded away mucho assets (though they never amounted to much) C) I ran out of gas on I-76W outside of Gladwyn The End
  10. It's sad that he went to such a crappy team, but at the same time he is supposed to be an adult and a professional. He should stop being such a spoiled brat and man up and play with heart and make them a good team. If I got paid what that **** got paid I wouldn't care if I played in Antartica.. One word comes to mind and it begins with a c and ends with a t. Yup that about sums up Jeffy.
  11. No worries Bak, Rick tried to come over here and he lasted all but 4 minutes and was booted. His IP is blocked so we shouldn't see him back again.....
  12. Well this thread now makes me think of: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=GzsWuqNlLK4
  13. 1) Kansas City new arena with an already failed franchise. That alone tells Buttman that it is a good relocate 2) Quebec 3) Las Vegas 4) Seattle
  14. @flyerrod I forgot about him. Funny thing is every time I see Avery I am instantly going to think of Vader from the old boards. Even more of a reason to hate Avery. Can't wait for it to air.
  15. Angry Fonzie, err I mean Torts is going to explode. This should be comedy gold watching that man on film.
  16. Oddly enough, being born in Janurary-March helps a lot too. If you look at a particular draft class (any one at random), look at the birthdates of the majority of the players. It usually falls between January and March. This obviously isn't a 100% science, but it helps. They say that most levels of competitive play say you have to be born in a certian year to play at a certain level. If you were born in Jan of 2000 vs Dec of 2000 the January born player has 11 months more of development. At an older age it shouldn't matter, but at the mite through bantam levels 11 months can mean a few inches or a few pounds. I know this is probably a tough pill to sell to a little guys, but I thought I would throw it in there. This was a study from Malcolm Gladwell's book "Outliers"
  17. @idahophilly One free Bloomin' Onion. Oh wait that is Outaback Steakhouse. Can we get a gift card for there? Ha aha ha.
  18. I saw and it was clear as day on the high stick on the left side of the net. I cannot believe the officials did not see it. I am not going to start the refs hate us or anything, but that is really bad that they missed that one.
  19. @s3x Thanks. I guess we'll all know then. They did roll out the home jersey on black friday back in 08' if I recall properly. So keeping in tradition we must wait two weeks.
  20. @s3x I did not know that. I wonder when they plan to announce the winter classic jersey though. We are about 45 days from the puck dropping, I figured that Comcast and Reebok would whore their merchandise a lot sooner than this....
  21. @idahophilly It is mostly people messing with Rick. Even Rick has given up. Now it's just people messing around and exposing the site for what it is.... a joke. Gutless will post until they close shop because he has been trolling since I can remember and Forsby is the same way. The site now consists of a bunch of people messing with Rick, Vader (Gutless) and Forsby. There is no need to expect any real hockey talk over there. I will admit that I need to stop going there, but it's like a train wreck that you just can't take your eyes off of.
  22. Semper Fi Marine and thank you to all who have served or know somebody who has.
  23. Agreed. As I said earlier you can't have the refs dictating the tempo of the game. I hate the 1-3-1 or any variation of it in a regular season game, but we can't have the refs start penalizing the teams for playing that style of hockey. To use football logic, it would be like the refs penalizing teams for using a prevent defense. Like Pods quoted from Shero; yes they can beat it with a mean game dump/kill and chase, or that is how I see it. However, I fear the Idaho is right that we will be sitting in the box a lot for it. These calls along the boards is kind of getting out of hand, but that is another topic of discussion. In the end you are correct in my eyes, the league should do nothing about this. Teams must figure a way to beat it.
