    Today in Flyers history in 2003 Patrick Sharp was called up to the big club for the first time.  Too bad he sucked so bad and was traded, he may have actually been a good player...oh wait!  :ph34r:

     

    Also on this banner day we traded for Dave Babych (3rd rounder) and Dan McGillis (Janne Niinimaa)

    He was my favorite player growing up and my Howe #2 jersey was the first jersey I ever had (given to me for my 10th B-day).  I tried to squeeze into it for the number retirement game but it was (shockingly) too small.  I ended up using safety pins to pin it to one of my current jerseys that fit so that I could wear #2 for one last time.  While I looked ridiculous it was my way of honoring Howe on that night.

    Wow I remember going through all of this stuff as it was happening but to see it written out in print is breathtaking.  I don't know whether to laugh or cry!

    Well they couldn't blame the coach that year because they had just blamed Barber the year before and got him canned so they blamed Checko and fired pucks at his head during practice (which he didn't mind as he used to like to head the puck anyway)!
