great goalie prospect, i believe it is the best thing for him, let him get a little bit of experience at the end of the season so he knows what to work on over the summer. I think he claims the net next year for your boys and will be fine. I have never been a buffalo fan but i believe they absolutely make the playoffs next year. Just too deep, very young and talented team.
They should bounce some teams that are in transition like an old Penguins team. Make no mistake, Perrault is still the best Sabre of all time. Id put Robert right there too. They have Dahlin and Power to build with. Power had 3 assists last night I believe. Middlestadt has become another good set up guy and Thompson and Skinner can finish. Thompson has a shot at 50 goals.

Well its too bad we no longer have the contest. Here are some up to date odds from the oddsmakers in Vegas:
Boston +370
Colorado +700
Toronto +900
Edmonton +1000
Carolina +1000
NJ Devils +1100
NY Rangers +1200
Las Vegas +1200
Tampa +1400
Dallas +1500
I think Boston will have to dispose of either Carolina or the Leafs or Rangers in the East finals. My West final is Vegas over Dallas. I think Vegas will get to the finals. But I am not going to pick them to win it all just yet. If ever the Leafs had a shot, its now. But Boston is an obstacle. Dallas and the Rangers and even the Devils must be considered sleepers.

Fun game last night. Very entertaining, both teams essentially out of it but both still playing hard. Buffalo has a very bright future, the Wings as well but not this year. Still even tho my Wings lost, it was one of the most entertaining games of the year.
Im not sure Levi is the answer in goal either.

Thanks for nothing Tampa. Losers to Isles. Slim hope remains for this year

I dont need reminding. I think the win last night keeps us alive but its a long shot. But I think they have a good young team. Just not sure about this kid in goal

No, I know that. Trust me; I understand that it's part of the process. I'm just saying that it's more than the goalies.
I think we should move this conversation to the correct forum. Im sure some don't like it. You know.

Yes and no...
-The Kings have gotten comparably poor goaltending all year long and have 100 points to Buffalo's 81. The difference?
-The Sabres bleed scoring chances against, particularly high danger chances, right from the slot.
-Even if Levi works out and is terrific, Buffalo will continue to give up too many goals because team defense is weak. They give up more than they get.
Must I remind you we have the youngest team in the NHL? Its going to get better.

It's like Owen Tippett's hat trick never happened.
Teams on the rise need to win games like that to take the step into the playoffs.
Take those nights off and you're golfing early.

Actually I think St. Louis is still in melt down mode and I suspect Berube will get fired as he's already yelling at his young players and they aren't responding. He's lost that team and the leaders he had are mostly gone. Unless they draft really well St. Louis falls further before they rise again.
Tonight, I suspect Florida beats the crap out of Buffalo physically. It'll be men vs. boys. Sabres should never have ditched DesLauriers LOL.
You were dead wrong. Goaltending is the reason we are not going to make it. We gave you guys a good beat down as did the Blues. The Blues are better off than you think Fella. Go back to the circus and pretend its Halloween forever.

Flyers at the Blues tonight. Of course my attention will be in Florida on the Sabres vs Panthers game but Ill keep an eye on the Blues game too. I do think Berube and the Blues are a bit ahead of Philly in the rebuild. They have some real good young talent in St Louis and Parayko is still there of course. Thomas, Sammy Blais, and one beastly Braeden Schenn. And of course they have some quality goalies down there. I wish we could steal one

No you lost me right there. But he would make a great Sabre. You can have him as Flyercanuck said for free.
I expect big things from here next year. But they need to continue to build around him. Flyers need a few goal scorers for real.
And a shut down D man for the top pair would be a great addition. A lot of work for Danny B to do and it will require a few years.
As far as Torts goes i like his no nonsense tough love way to coach these kids need it. They need to be toughened up to get back to play old school (or as close as you can these days Flyer hockey). Sure he is going to ruffle some feathers but the country club mentality needs to change and he is leading the charge.
He will lead the charge to the nut house where guys like him and Mike Keenan belong

Ok, you lost me here. You can have him, FREE!
Why do you think he is so bad? I do not see it. But of course I do not see the Flyers too often

So it appears that its correct that the Flyers are in full rebuild mode. I am an expert of sorts on this topic. LOL. Lots of experience. I do not think my team is still in rebuild, they are now in the seasoning mode. Young guys with the help of some experienced vets, the way to do it I suppose. So in Philly, as a non fan, Ill try and be unattached to any bias views. The only one I really have is a strong dislike of John Tortorella. I do not see him being around too long. For your Flyer fans sake, you should hope not. So he did do a good thing by letting the assistant have a go of it vs the Sabres the other night. I wonder if the guy who was in charge that night called out that defenseman in the locker room for one of the most mind boggling turnovers I have ever seen? The puck was coughed up, and it almost seemed deliberate, and then the guy SKATES AWAY AS FAST AS HE CAN!!!! LOL. Lucky for him it was Girgensons instead of Tuch or Skinner who jumped on it and did not cash in. But the goalie must have been cursing under his mask! Had to be. That is the kind of play that will get you traded and benched fast. But I am guessing you have seen this before? The Flyers do have some talent. I think Hayes, the ex Ranger and of course the goal scorer who just came back from an injury, are two of their best. Frost seems pretty good. They have the ability to score. They just cant keep it out of the net, something else I am way too familiar with.
I was hoping for a better effort yesterday and for them to help and beat the Penguins but it did not happen. Not sure who will handle this rebuild moving forward? Will Danny Briere be kept on long term? A risky move if the answer is yes.

The good news: Buffalo’s maximum point total is only exceeded by Pittsburgh amongst the Wildcard Contenders, and only by one point. Your max is equal to that of Cats and Isles.
The bad news: you’ve so many, too many, games in hand. Your final week is a killer, playing Mon/Tue/Thu/Fri. (And 5 of your last 7 are on the road.) The Isles, by contrast, only play 4 more games after their double-loss weekend.
For sure you must beat the Cats in South Florida this Tuesday. I wish your Sabres good fortune. My Caps are all washed up (but hope they help out by beating the Cats & Isles in Washington next Sat & Mon) but the pain is lesser if the Pens also fail to gain the postseason.
Road sweet road. Go look at Buffalo's record. Notice above .500 on the road, 11 games above .500 on the road!!!!!! 5 below at home!!!! Young team that handles the road better. Its pure work and no need to entertain fans. I welcome the games being on the road. Thank God they are away and not at home. Their worst games that are head scratchers are at home. But, the schedule is not kind. And the next home game is vs Carolina. I believe they will play the "kid", Levi, on Tuesday. Throw his ass to the wolves. Lets see if he comes out unscathed.

Not sure which Flyer defenseman not only turned the puck over to Girgensons, and then made a futile attempt to skate away unnoticed? After a rocket was launched by Girgensons, Sandstrom was surprisingly awake and made one of his few good saves of the night. It was not Risto.

Can I interest you in a Luminalainen?
Did you see that puck coughed up to Girgensons?

I do not know who will be in goal for the Flyers today but without Hart, the situation must be dire. They were playing very well and played very well at times during last nights game but they do have some glaring defensive problems. I could not believe that guy that turned the puck over just skated away like "go ahead, let it rip". LOL. Like he could care less. Tuch gets the hat trick. Quinn set him up on a very good play. Now its Florida on Tues and help needed. But we have the games in hand. But we have hands full vs Florida who are playing well all of a sudden. Thompson is likely to return in that game. Come on Flyers . Please beat Pittsburgh.
-
I wont lie, the Rangers did not look very focused. Likely tired from a go with New Jersey the night before, and backup and once feared Halak was very good. Skinner split the Rangers D in OT to beat them. The first goal surrendered by LEVI was actually a mistake by Dahlin. Levi never had a chance on it. The 2nd was a scrum in front of the net I felt he should have covered. But these goalies lose the sight of the puck. Anyway, a much needed win to stay in pursuit of Pittsburgh and the Islanders. The Sabres of course are not as good without Tage Thompson who missed another and is not likely to play in Philly tonight. I do not recognize the goalie named for the Flyers tonight so that is likely why the Sabres are favored in this game in Vegas? But I just cant imagine Levi playing back to back but he is young? I would rather see Luukenen of the other 3. I believe he is the only one that could be motivated by Levi's performance and arrival? I still have hope he can be at least a backup here but his game must improve, especially if we go to a shootout. On to Philly in another must win game I would think. Pittsburgh somehow has the big advantage of the schedule.

I type this a half hour before puck drop vs Rangers in downtown Buffalo! The kids first game in goal for Sabres. I’m glad he’s here.

How is Greenway playing?
Like pure crap. LOL. No not really. But he is just a big goon. But he does not do what a goon is supposed to do. I have to give him more time to really make a judgement. I think Granato has backed off on him. Has seen enough of him on the line with Thompson and Tuch. He is not good enough. Skinner is better. No doubt about that
Adams sealed our fate with these bums in the nets. Finally he has Levi ready for next year. A tie vs that young Montreal team when you lead going into the third is not acceptable. But without Thompson in the lineup, its a big big loss. He had to sit out last night. I expect him to play next game. We must run the table now.

If our young team was in the West, we would be in. As young as they are it will take more than Owen Powers first year to go anywhere in the playoffs anyway. Him and Dahlin are two you wish you had on your team. Id rather be in our shoes than yours. Oh, and I guess you just let us have that last game didnt you? The win in Detroit was earned. You should get tanking.
