Manson dealt to the Avalanche

Recommended Posts

Perfect deal for both teams.

Colorado added Josh Manson in exchange for prospect Andrew Helleson and a second rounder.

I thought Manson would net a first but IMHO the haul was better than a first. A late second and a solid prospect in Helleson who will turn pro out of Boston College in the coming weeks. Helleson is a solid defensive defenseman who can move the puck a bit, probably a year away but a very good prospect, about a B or B minus player. Essentially if everything breaks right he will be Josh Manson. Big boy who can skate.

Manson is exactly what the Avalanche needed, they have d-men who can join the rush and make for odd man breaks, Manson never quite developed the offensive game but he can chip in when called upon. His specialty is defense, he will allow guys like Makar to be even better, essentially playing almost as a 4th forward knowing the calm steady Manson has their back. He joins rugged Erik Johnson in that regard, allowing his likely defensive partner the criminally underrated Devon Toews who is nearly a point a game to be even better.

Both did well. Anaheim got a near ready plug and play prospect and a second, Colorado got the steady blueline influence to make their transition game even more scary. I give a very slight edge to Colorado but like it for both teams.
