Berggren’s Office

Berggren looks VERY comfortable down low near the goal line. His two goals today were a product of his positioning. He’s gonna score some more goals.

But I have a prediction: Teams are gonna study this year’s film and next year they are going to defend him better, so he may have the typical sophomore slump.

HOWEVER, it’s going to open up more opportunities for other Wings players, and the TEAM will do better as a result.

I REALLY like this kid’s game. He’s got the smarts where if he can’t score from his office, he’s gonna find the feed pass to someone out front for an easy one or a dirty rebound.

Nothing but upside!

Love Berggren, with Raymond out and Bertuzzi finally going to be dealt i believe he is in line to get a significant bump in offensive zone time and ice time. In spite of only appearing in 40 games, he is 5th on the team in goals and that is in spite of only being 11th on the team in average ice time among all forwards. He is actually near the top of the list of offensive zone ice time but that is a bit misleading, most of that comes on the power play where he seems to have found a home, 5 on 5 he spends most of his time in the defensive zone where he is actually surprisingly good for a rookie.

  Love the kid.

We signed Maatta to a two year extention, i dont hate it. He has found a home paired with Hronek.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him paired with Edvinsson next season. I actually think that might be the main reason for offering him the extension--to help Edvinsson adjust and develop in the NHL.
