jammer2
From today's Metzler's blog....2 fairly big things in the history of our beloved Flyers. 1976 1)Dave Schultz is traded from Philly to LA, in his first game back, he fights his hier apparent to the goon spot on the Flyers, current GM Paul Holgrem. Paul throttles him to secure the goon role and a signifacnt "changing of the guard" happens as a result. The officail post Schultz era in Philly begins....and maybe not all his doing, but the team is never able to recaputre it's glory. 1984 2) Shortly before Darryl Sittler is to be announced as Flyer captain, he is apruptly traded to the Wings. Thank the GOOD LORD for this. Could you imagine Sittler as captain of the Flyers!?!?! Not right in the least!! Flyers also recieve Murray Craven and Joe Paterson in return, some decent young players. http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog/Bill-Meltzer/Meltzers-Musings-Prospects-Flyers-in-Europe-Pronger-Today-in-History/45/46975
