Vincent05
http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/sports/flyers/Flyers-in-talks-with-Simon-Gagne.htmlFlyers in talks with Simon Gagne POSTED: Monday, July 1, 2013, 4:39 PM Sam Carchidi It sounds as if the Flyers will bring back popular left winger Simon Gagne only if the price is right. Gagne, 33, who had five goals and 11 points in 27 games with the Flyers last year, can become an unrestricted free agent on Friday. “We’ve had a couple of conversations with his agent, and we will continue to talk,” GM Paul Holmgren said on Monday. “We have interest in bringing him back, but limited cap space.” The cap has dropped to $64.3 million this season, but teams can go over it by 10 percent in the summer. The Flyers have about $4.2 million of cap room, but it climbs to nearly $11 million with the added 10 percent cushion. Once the season starts, they will put Chris Pronger on the long-term injured list and get $4.9 million of cap relief. The Flyers reacquired Gagne last year from Los Angeles by sending a fourth-round pick to the Kings. The veteran had a pro-rated $5.25 million cap hit last season and will be paid a lot less this season. Gagne began his distinguished career with the Flyers in 1999-2000; he was their first-round selection (22d overall) in 1998. Follow Sam Carchidi on Twitter @BroadStBull. If they can bring him back for around 2mil per year, that would be great. He can still play on the 3rd line and would like to see him retire in a Flyers jersey. doom88
I hope Homer brings him back at an inexpensive but respectful salary. Maybe a 2 to 3 year deal? He's not old yet.
