The St. Louis Blues have re-signed goaltender Brian Elliott to a two-year contract extension. The 26-year-old will earn $1.7 million next season and $1.9 million in 2013-14, with a $1.8 million cap hit. The all-star goaltender has posted a 15-5-1 record while ranking second in the NHL with a 1.68 goals against average, .937 save percentage and a career-high-tying five shutouts. Overall, Elliott has posted a 76-58-17 record along with a 2.72 goals against average and .906 save percentage during his NHL career. "Brian came in here and helped stabilize our goaltending and make it one of the top tandems in the NHL," said Blues vice president and general manager Doug Armstrong in a statement. "Having Brian and Jaro (Jaroslav Halak) signed through the 2013-14 season our goaltending is set. Along with Ben Bishop and Jake Allen in Peoria, our depth at goaltender has never been stronger." The Newmarket, Ontario native was originally signed by the Blues as a free agent on July 1, 2011.
Does this mean Halak is available? How I wish Homer is as smart as these GMs when handing out contracts,

@Vincent05

He's been a great story this year. He had a tough start to his NHL career, but worked hard and bounced back nicely. That's a good signing for the Blues too, a $1.8 caphit. Homer would have signed him for 5 or 6 years at triple the caphit, thrown in a NMC and thrown out a couple of 2nds just for the heck of it.
