Zibenajad had a period for the ages in last nights insane 9-0 demolition of the Flyers, his 3 goal, 3 assist second period tied tied the all time record of six points in one period tying a record for most points in one period set in 1978 by Brian Trottier. To top it off he did it with the entire Rangers coaching staff out due to Covid protocal. AHL coach Kris Knoblaugh ran the bench for the night although in the record books it will show that coach David Quinn who did not attend will get credit for the win.

To put Zibbys six point second period into perspective the disappointing season he is having goes like this, in his previous 11 games going into last nighthe had 1 goal and 4 assists for a total of five points, then came the twenty minutes of the second frame where he outscored his performance of the previous 11 games combined.

Columbus has supposedly moved to the seller category, with Captain Nick Foligno rumored to be willing to be moved to a cup contender as well as rugged veteran David Savard. bothare built for the playoffs and should be highly coveted, especially considering that both are UFAs at years end and therefor will not have to be protected when Seattle does the ecpansion draft. Joonas Korpisalo is supposedly in play as well.

Buffalo is a foregone conclusion to deal Staal with Carolina listed as a very real possible destination, Taylor Hall on an expiring deal is an intriguing possibility for someone in need of scoring from a former Hart winner who has fallen on hard times.

With Vegas win over the Sharks last night they are the third club along with Carolina and Tampa to reach twenty wins on the year. Lehner is back and none too soon as Fleury is looking his age of late having played in 18 of their previous 19 games. Everything points to a likely fifty/fifty split in net for the remainder of the regular season, the huge question mark is which one will own the net in the postseason.
