  1. Other than getting us to the final in 2010. What exactly did Lavy do for this team???
  2. http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog/Eklund/Dallas-Others-Inquiring-About-Luke-Schenn/1/55396#.UnbnoFMQPOs The play of defenseman Luke Schenn last season was one of the few bright spots for a massively disappointing Philadelphia Flyers club in the lockout-shortened season. This season: Well, the Flyers are off to another terrible start and Schenn has been part of the problem rather than part of the solution. Yesterday in New Jersey, Craig Berube sent a message to Schenn by making him a healthy scratch. For the season, his average ice time is down from last year's average of 21:51 to an average of 15:36. What got Schenn in the doghouse? It appears that he was one on the players that Berube (who has heavily emphasized skating since taking over from Peter Laviolette) was referring to when he said there were some players who had come to camp in good muscular shape but poor skating shape. Even before he got removed from the lineup, Schenn voluntarily took extra skating after practice, which is unusual for a non-rehabbing or non-scratched player to do. Unfortunately, Schenn's on-ice play has still not come around yet to where he or the team wants it to be. Nevertheless, I found out today that there are clubs -- Dallas is one and another Western Conference club -- who have some interest in the big, physical defenseman. The source said that "although the optics of trading Schenn after acquiring him for JVR would look terrible" and the Flyers still have Luke's brother, Brayden, on the club, "the team is worried first and foremost about improving the team, regardless of the outside optics." That makes sense, because the Flyers have never cared what anyone outside the organization thinks.
  3. @ruxpin Your right in respect that I have no right to tell where to stand in regards to fandom. I'm just surprised at fans that say they hope we will lose and were still early into the season, when there is still hope. If it was the end of the season and we were out of playoff contention I would agree with that stance. I think I say "change your loyalties" because living in toronto I have heard the negativity from leaf fans for many years. And lately with Flyer fans hearing more and more negativity. So with leaf fans I have always wondered, if you hate them that much, why bother following them? I'm assuming they enjoy following them to hate them and they cant help themselves And all the fans saying fire homer, I can understand that. But hard to take them serious when there is no balance between +'ve and -"ve comments. On the old board fans were calling for homer to be fired/quit for a number of years ago. So I do respect your opinion, but I think even if The Flyers fail miserably this season, we will never re-build. They are just not that type of franchise.
  4. How long do you think they will play the players they have paid millions to and they are not performing before they do something drastic??? The Flyers are not a patient club. The coach has to be right for the given group of players. Is berube that guy?? Maybe your right and the Flyers should hire a coach that has no ties to the club at this time. you have to pick players that work well together. Why do we always end up with some locker room cancer?? Need to take more opportunities to assess players before signing them. In regards to a captain, maybe we should have taken a captain that has more experience in the nhl, like streit who was the captain of the NYI. The experiment failed with richards, who maybe had to much pressure with the C and the big contract. Your right with we need to develop our own players, you can't buy chemistry with a FA. In 2010 needed some minor tweaking, a better goalie and 2 d men. The 3rd pair was our downfall against the hawks.
  5. Bring in the great dane, laughton, & cousins, they are young and hungry. Lets see what they can do.
  6. The 1st two you named, that might work out. But bringing back more ex-flyers, not sure if that would help
  7. I don't think so. We already had that player and he didn't do his job & was traded.
  8. lavy had stanley cup experience didn't seem to help them much. You said leadership type of players on all four lines? You hinted, but what players do you have in mind?
  9. I didn't watch, but I wasn't hoping they would lose. If you find yourself rooting for them to lose, you should consider changing your loyalties to another team. Your not on contract.
  10. And if no one was fighting, everyone would bitch about that.
  11. Capitals? wtf do you mean by that?? Were supposed to honor there presence or something??
  12. FU Coach/owner/fans/comcast/alumni/team mates/prospects/and anyone else I didnt mention
  13. Steen, one of the 3 stars for october. Oh what could have been leafer fans....... http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=435601
  14. there's another one.....ouch!! Kordic got 446 penalty minutes and 16 points in 104 games as a Leaf Courtnall gradually improved over parts of four seasons with the Habs. He ended up with 82 goals and 195 points in 250 games for Montreal. the Habs turned Russ Courtnall into Brian Bellows, who won a Stanley Cup with the Habs. And Courtnall kept on being a decent offensive player (and I believe an all-star) with the Dallas Stars.
  15. What's your recommendation then??
  16. I was trying not to make the list to long.
  17. slow day in the office! Here's the short list. rask (1) Toronto trades a 1st round Pick in 1991 Scott Niedermayer (4 cups, 2 olympic gold medals) Larry Murphy (2) Dave Andreychuk (1) Ken Wregget (1) Fredrick Modin (1) bernie parent (2)
  18. This is who is available. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/teams/statistics/?hubname=nhl-flyers Willing to take whatever is offered.
  19. I think another trade is in the works and one of Simmonds, Rinaldo or Rosehill will be moved.
  20. Nope I don't. This topic has been beaten to death, substitute any enforcers name The Flyers have had and it's the same discussion. I think though if you don't want an enforcer on your team, The Flyers are the last ones that are going to do that. I don't know about you, but I don't want a whole roster of Briere's.
  21. I didn't realize you were such a big fan of Harry Zolnierczyk.
  22. If it wasn't for the players like Raffl annd rosehill what would the board discuss?
  23. Downie is quicker, better offensively, younger than max, and will call people out. This team needed fire, we just got it.
  24. I guess the flyers have character and grit according to that theory from lord vader. The leafs can keep there "winning" business model of making the playoffs once every decade or so.
