Fleury will be fine. Zatkoff will back up. I actually wouldn't mind Bryzgalov on a cheap one year... As with other Flyer castoffs it almost guarantees we win the Cup! Lol

Well he had better be fine, I think he his on thin ice after last years performance. He may find himself on another team or out of the league completely.
Also which Flyers are refering to as "castoffs"?? Asham maybe?? Zolnierczyk??

Thomas is currently signed to a PTO with the Panthers.
True. But if the pens offered him a one year contact, he might take it.
-
csn article from 2011, you may not have seen it. I am a huge Tim Kerr fan.
http://www.csnphilly.com/flyers/flyers-where-are-they-now-tim-kerrHe had a 4 goal game vs NYR.

Even if Bryz comes in at league minimum and even if he were to play ok, it would still be a mistake for the Pens to bring him in. His toxic personality alone is enough to destroy a locker room.
I can't believe Shero would be foolish enough to bring in a known problem to his team.
Great time to give some younger guys a shot at being back up with the big club.
who else can they get?? Thomas? Another headcase.
-
Please make this happen....
"hey lord it's me again, I have one more favor to ask, send bryz to the pens"

Cant imagine a guy like Ray Shero would even entertain the thought of signing Bryz, but I agree it would be pretty damn funny if they did.
they would have 1 crazy goalie and 1 goalie seeing a shrink. haha

like on the responses said "just like xmas"

True or not, fun even to think this is possible.

I figure Homer probably offered him 7 years at $5.5-6 with a NMC but Read talked him down.
were saving that offer for Morrow.
-
Once in awhile Homer signs a good contract. This is one of them. I thought he'd want at least a million more a year.
"love" homer

@Leach27 Not a huge fan of the Pens crew. One of my favs, but also guys that are almost universally hated is the Caps announcers. I find them knowledgeable, fair and entertaining. Laughlin is a great colour guy.
If that is the caps announcer I'm thinking of, then yah he's really annoying with a squeaky voice, seems to talk threw his nose. I picture him as 4'10 and overweight.
-
I'd rather have bamboo shoots hammered into every fingernail than listen to Ricky boy.
How do you like the biased and bland pens announcers?? I can't handle em, thank god for the mute button.
-
I do not know how Rick will pronounce some of these names because I sure cannot even spell them. The two G guys expecially. Rick has been such a great part of the Sabres and his game calls are just fabulous. I have him right up there with the late great Dan Kelly as one of the best ever for calling games and making them exciting.
I agree he is one the best ever. I enjoy listening to him call the games (when they are not playing The Flyers).

Not true at all! It might have had a

I said from the jump that dropping MAB to the A made sense for all concerned. Meant it then. Mean it now.

I agree as well. If we can send an injured player to the A and save his salary, do it. Has an injured player ever been claimed off waivers? I don't think The Flyers would be to concerned if he was claimed, they were willing to take that risk.

HOMER'S A GENIUS!
Whether they all cleared or not, you would have put the same response
-
@Leach27 Well, regardless of the reason, he did in fact surpass him on the depth chart, no?
agreed!
-
@hf101 Reading into this a bit, perhaps Raffl surpassed McGinn on the depth chart?
nope. from what I read, Raffl outbeat McGinn because of vinnys comments that he had chemistry with him.
-
@hf101 Wow, I thought it was a tad early for this type of cut down. At the very least, I expected McGinn and Cousins to get a longer look with the big team, a few more exhibition games anyways. They both looked like they belonged in the early exhibition games.
I thought cousins would get a longer look and I thought gill would be gone.

Seravelli is typically hyping things up, while substantiating none of what his headline claims. In fact, he pretty much contradicts it in his own piece: "the Flyers’ top six is pretty set: Kimmo Timonen, Mark Streit, Andrej Meszaros, Luke Schenn, Nick Grossmann and Braydon Coburn. It’s likely that Erik Gustafsson will be the extra guy, though he could play his way into the opening lineup." And " It’s just tough to figure where he would play, unless he is willing to start the season in Adirondack as an insurance policy." Sure he's got some feel good quotes from Laviolette, but what's the guy supposed to say?
Unless there's a serious injury or a trade or two, Gill isn't likely to stay. I guess they may keep him if he only signs a one year deal as an insurance policy and starts on the Phantoms (at least that way he doesn't count as an over-35 deal, but he would count as a "buried" contract). I just don't know that a 38-year old will want to play in the AHL.
In the end, when the Flyers head up to Lake Placid, I expect to see the following:
F: Giroux, Hartnell, Voracek, Simmonds, Lecavalier, Read, Talbot, Couturier, Laughton, Rinaldo, B. Schenn, Raffl, McGinn, and Rosehill
D: Timonen, Streit, L. Schenn, Coburn, Meszaros, Grossmann, Gustafsson, Lauridsen, Gervais, Morin
G: Mason, Emery
Leaving up to 2 slots for Gill, Alt, Cousins, Akeson, Manning, Straka, Heeter, and Danis. I suppose Gill could stick for the trip, if that's what Seravelli was actually trying to say, but I think even that is unlikely.
Unless the Flyers have changed there minds now. I thought they were interested in trading mez or another D man. Been lots of rumors about this for a few months. How can He (frank s) say the top 6 is set?

Unfortunately the ugly ones are the ones that stand out. How would explain the roger neilson situation???

Surprise surprise, there's not a single story about Gagne on CSNPhilly or Philly.com
Anyone who thinks the Flyers are a classy organization can just stop the delusion. Lindros, Richards, Carter, Bryz, Gagne, Briere.
The painfully sad thing is that the Flyers showed more loyalty to Michael Effing Leighton than Simon Gagne.
A classy organization would have told Gagne to look elsewhere when FA started.
add Roger Neilson to the list

From London, Ontario at the Budweiser Gardens. I just checked the game is on Leafs tv, @6:00 pm. For those of us that live in Ontario, check your cable supplier to see if they offer Leafs tv. I know I can add it for 3.99 a month, which I would gladly pay to see this game....I feel dirty admitting this, but I already have it, it keeps me in the loop and shows games in the off season ha ha.
Anyways, I'm gonna watch it and tape it, so I'll be giving a full report for those that can't see it on tv. If anyone finds the line-up for this game before I do, please post in this thread. I expect a lot of fights and rough stuff, can't wait! It might take a while for me to post after the game, due to the 3rd last episode of Breaking Bad starting at 9pm, right after the game, but I'll get it on the net as soon as possible.
we have leafs tv as well. I'm sure the game will be on in Ontario. Good thing about leafs tv, when they play The Flyers the game is repeated again, when I worked evenings I could still watch it. Heard that center ice will have the pre-season games. For everyone else firstrowsports.com should have it.

Bryz to pens?
in Around the NHL
Posted · Edited by Leach27
I didn't know Williams, Richards, Carter and Gagne won a cup with the pens. What year was that?
