  1. The Lindros hit(s) and the Umberger hit were "legal" then. It just pisses me off that everyone at the time was "oh well Lindros needs to skate with his head up!" (which was valid), BUT what were people saying when Richards leveled Booth? Fans were crying that it was dirty, illegal, etc. Now the league decides to start cracking down (rightfully so) AFTER we lose our best player in decades to concussions. Just the kind of luck Philly fans are used to i guess....

  2. @xganarchy

I'm a big proponent of the "act like you've been there" way of going about things in the NHL. Sure, you score the gamewinner that wins the playoff series, go apeshit! But when it's an everyday goal, it should be celebrated as a team, not all about you. Skate by the bench and tap gloves, we're in this together. Not "HEY EVERYBODY, LOOK AT ME, AM I FRIGGIN' GREAT OR WHAT?"

Yeah, i agree, he definitely deserved a beat down. I was ticked off by Ovechkin's act too, but some fans/broadcasters ate it up. Disrespectful to say the least!

  3. Bourdon probably will get 1-2 games, but what about Leino? He threw an obvious elbow that looked like it barely connected but stunned Read a little bit. The intent was definately there.Even Flyer hater Eddie O on versus felt that should absolutely be a suspenson.

I caught that part too, i was surprised Eddie O thought a suspension was warranted, I was expecting them to just sweep it under the rug

  4. But for the hit, sheesh... Gerbe saw him coming and had plenty of time to, you know, actually face him to avoid getting hurt, but instead deliberately turns his back to Bourdon. MAB might get suspended, but now Gerbe is hurt.

    Stupid.

exactly, just as many of us predicted, players are now using the "face the boards at the last second" move to put the responsibility on the CHECKER to stop, instead of avoiding or taking the hit. It's just getting ridiculous.

  5. 8.25 nuff said no way

yeah that's insane, funny enough i was going to list Toronto as one of the teams I could see him going to. I wonder if the Oilers would part with a promising young guy for Staal (altho they're pretty stacked offensively as it is). I could also see him go to St. Louis

  6. Ouch, i HATE when that happens. You plan something then, last minute, your plans just turn to crap. My 1st suggestion would be to just DVR the games if you can. Family won't be around forever, and sometimes spending time with them should come first. If this isn't an option, however, perhaps you come down with a bug or have to work etc (some kind of excuse). That, or maybe offer to meet up with them after the movie? Sorry, I don't know if I could be sucked into watching that crap movie haha :)

  7. Regardless of which league the are playing in, who are your top three missed ex-Flyers still playing professionally?

    1) Simon Gagne - Injury prone but on the left side of Giroux and Jagr? The man knows how to finish.

    2) Patrick Sharp - Over the last four years he's averaging 60pts. Works the PK. Imagine him and Talbot on the PK?

    3) Mike Richards - I still think without the weight of Philly (and Carter) on his shoulders he would have been fine here.

I'll vote for Gagne, was a true team guy and a class act.

  8. NHL owns them and I've heard they are most likely not keeping the team in AZ...Any insight on where the NHL may place them? Another team for Canada? Probably at least be in a cold weather city, seems like the southern teams don't do as well and are a big reason there is a damn salary cap, so the smaller markets can compete, but that's a different topic.

    The _________ Coyotes?

I'm hoping to see a team back in Quebec, they had a good rivalry with the Canadiens and Canada deserves another team.

  9. ....and this gives Domi who was a goon the right to jump in and start throwing shots with a team mate at Adam "The Crusher" Burt?!?!

At the Flyers team Christmas party after that incident, there was a Santa Claus who asked Sandy McCarthy what he wanted for Christmas. McCarthy said he didn't know, and Santa said "How about a Tie Domi doll. You wind it up and it skates away."

I am think it was Berube who was dressed up as Santa. Probably one of the funniest pieces I have ever seen.

Ti Domi for being a "tough guy" is one of the biggest ******* to ever lace up the skates.....

sorry i should have quoted what i was responding to. I was trying to justify why it took so long for any of the other Flyers on the ice to help Burt. I in no way am condoning Domi and the other Leafs player beating up on Burt!

  10. Lucic definitely didn't try to avoid the hit in the least, so therefore he definitely deserves a penalty. If the puck was still there at Miller's feet, I'd say he deserved it. You've got to protect the goalies a bit more, i get as mad as the next guy at goalie's who clearly EXPLOIT that, but Miller was just clearing the puck away.

  11. Was thinking about this and what do you guys think? Homer and Yzerman seems to like making deals. TB needs a goalie bad with Roloson struggling. We send Bob, Voracek and 1st in 2012 for Hedman. I would hate to lose Bob but don't see how he has a future here. Then we can flip Carle to another team for picks and keep Gustavsson up. If not in season maybe in the offseason? TB will need another goalie next year.

I think that's a trade I'd make...Hedman is huge, tough, and seems like he'll be great for MANY years. Voracek has started slow and Bob isn't helping us on the bench. (altho i love his game)
