Close, but not quite. It was side on, and the Wild player was still far enough away from the boards.
PP Lightning, but the Wild have contained them so far.
Stamkos good hit on a Wild player, but Dumba took exception.
Stamkos was also upset from earlier when he kept getting hit high with no call from the officials.
This really is weird. In all the games I've seen between these two, things really haven't gotten nasty.
They are now.
Wild need to be careful. They are controlling this game, they don't want to wake the Bolts up.
Let's see how this 3rd period goes.
Tampa Bay is ranked 9th in the league in goals FOR in the 3rd
Minnesota is ranked 27th in goals allowed in the 3rd.
However...the Wild are ranked 12th in GF in the 3rd, while the Lightning are 19th in GA in that same frame.
So.....what all those stats mean is...I have no freakin clue how the 3rd is gonna go!
Well, not good forking out a c-note, but good that it is being resolved.
Ya'll stay warm.....was out myself for a bit earlier and haven't left home since about 2pm.
Too. Friggin.Cold
Wow 3-1 Wild.
The X really is a house of horrors for the Lightning.
They may need to forego the fancy stuff and just go flat out grind on Minnesota if they hope to keep this close.
Particularly frustrating for me because I'd like to see the Wild play and shoot like this against their division rivals more often!
Stalock, surprisingly, stopped Kucherov on a breakaway...not once, but a second time on a rebound...
Bet if that were Pittsburgh or Colorado bearing down on him he gives up the goal easily...
Ouch...waiting on AAA or some such at least?
Sorry to hear that. Especially with as cold as it is out there (assuming you are in the upper Midwest).
Hope that all gets sorted fast!
For whatever reason, the Lighting have trouble winning in St. Paul.
They haven't won there since 2012 or some such.
I was at a game between TB and Min some years ago while I was a partial STH for Minnesota...decked out in Lightning gear (only time I visit the X wearing anything other than a Wild sweater), and the Bolts got killed that night something like 7-2 or something like that.
Fan next to me leans over and says, "I thought Florida was supposed to be good"
LOL at yea....the team not playing as well as they normally do (dismal in fact) in front of the Wild fans.
DOUBLE LOL at the State of Hockey fan who truly didn't realize there was a difference between the Florida Panthers and Tampa Bay Lightning.
Bolts looked like they stepped up the SOG on Stalock, but too little too late towards the end of the period.
Wild will have a chance to reset during the intermission...……… or will the Lightning smooth out their defensive play and continue where they left off at period's end?
Stay tuned....
1-0 Wild on a Zach Parise PP goal after 1
Game is starting to look surprisingly chippy for two teams that don't see each other too often.
They are probably doing that on purpose to irritate me...
