  1. I'm with the majority of you . I too like Rinaldo. He's a ball of fire but he's targeted. My problem with JVR returning is that the team has a real chemistry going right now. My guess would be to sit Zac and put JVR in his place on the fourth line. He's gonna need time to get back into game shape and fourth line minutes will be fine for him. Besides how many teams could claim a fourth line of Read, JVR, and Wellwood. Yikes. That's four lines that host some serious offensive threat.

  2. It was high drama at it's best. Perfect for the game Sat. and the playoffs. Can't wait. Flyers need to come out strong. I have a feeling the guins are gonna try some dirty stuff right away to set the tone (cause they suck). Flyers need to stick to the game plan and get a comfortable lead. Then seek and destroy. Old time hockey. That would be SO awesome.

  3. I think the fans have a right to boo just as much as they have a right to cheer. It's an expensive night out even if going to the game is the only thing you're doing. I wanna see a hard fought contest. If my team losses but fought for every inch of the ice I'm disappointed but I can accept it. If they lost because they were out partying the night before, took stupid penalties, played with an air of disregard or just didn't try, I'm gonna boo. Heck I want my money back.

Collectively, I think the teams realize it's a business and endeavor to appease the masses while trying to reign in as much cash as possible.

Individually, I think the players appreciate the fans. I think they are overwhelmed and awed by the attention both positive and negative but there is still a disconnect with them and an understanding of the paying public.

Giroux is right to say what he did and in light of that I will try to reserve my criticisms as well. Brzy should appreciate the support silently and JVR needs to shut it.

  4. I was thinking back to the November game against the Coyotes when a couple of the Phoenix players were really bad mouthing Brzy badly. I was pissed at the time and was hoping someone on the Flyers would exact a little revenge for showing and voicing such blatant disrespect. Nothing happened.

Fast foward to 24/7 when the team is eating breakfast, I believe. Bryz walks in the room and no on wants to sit at the table with him. I thought that was odd.

Now though? Maybe the Phoenix guys were right. Not that I think they should have expressed their opinions the way they did, but it certainly makes you wonder.

  5. Living in West Michigan, the Wings have been my second team. I'm suprised by this is years squad. They don't have the depth like past years teams have had but they are putting up great numbers. I'm also suprised by the play of MacDonald, he's coming along better than anticipated. All in all though, hope the Flyers can hold on to the record.

  6. Yeah, I'm with Canoli. Let's concentrate on (read practice) playing defense with the players we have. With Gus back in the line up, hopefully we see some improvement. Let's help our goalies out. We start doing that and save % and GAA will begin to move in the right directions and that will inspire confidence. We need confident goalies.

  7. This was a good one. Lidstrom is such a class act. It'll be a sad (but rapidly approaching) day when he isn't quarterbacking a powerplay in hockeytown. It would be great for the Detroit org to have him stay around in some capacity, but I think he goes back to Sweden where his heart and family lives. He'll probably be voted mayor of his town but I know the Wings will use him as a European scout.

  8. I wonder what this year would have been like for the rookies and young guys if Betts was still active, and Pronger doesn't go down. I know that sounds silly because it's all speculation but think of the ramifications it has on the guys fighting for spots.

Betts making the squad means that Schenn, Holmstrom and Sestito don't see much ,if any, big league time. Or Schenn doesn't get hurt and that means Rinaldo and Zolnierczyk get little to no ice time.

The Pronger injury opens up the door fo Lilja to step in. He however doesn't knock any socks off and subsequently gets hurt himself. That creates opportunities for Bourdon, Marshall and Gustafsson. Gustafsson amazes us....and then gets hurt. That provides additional time for Bourdon and Marshall. Bourdon has shown real promise and poise. I think everyone had higher hopes for Marshall.

That's kind of my point I guess. It sucks that the rock stars go down, but it's so cool that for the first time in a long time the back-up singers are pulling their weight.

We know what Harts can do. Giroux has excelled with increased responsibility and ice time. Jagr is an awesome suprise, and Talbot has been better than advertised. But guys like Simmonds and Vorachek, Couturier and Read? Wow, their development could have been seriously altered if things had been different.

Not that I care that much, but what a bummer for the Phantoms.

  9. I learned that the all star weekend is a mixed blessing.

I was appalled by the nonsense and embarrassed by the hoopla.

I was touched by the unpretentiousness of some of the players.

The fantasy draft was fun. Some of the fans however should have been taser-gunned. I mean that.

Lupul and Chara deserve credit for their composure during the draft.

    Patrick Kane is a tool.

I was blown away when Giroux was announced and did the Jagr salute. I was equally suprised when I discovered water in my eyes

when Hartnell did the same salute. (I love these guys).

The All star competitions are alot of fun.

The All star game could be so much more fun.

    The musical guests were awful.

    The mike'd players were fun.

Pierre McGuire is so much cooler with out Sidney Crosby in this league.

And lastly, Lingerie Football is ridiculous but simultaneously awesome.
