  1. At this point, I'm just ready for this to be over. And after reading what Friedman wrote today about what the Flyers will do if they can't get Michkov, I fully expect they're going to swerve everyone. Watch how people will freak out when they call Matthew Wood.....
  2. I'm really holding my breath on Couturier. I'm really not sure how his back will hold up, but he seems motivated and more important, he said on April 25th that he is physically 100% now. If he's healed physically (and we're talking his knees as well), at the very least he becomes a major asset in a number of ways. I'm hoping for the best, prepared for the worst and think it will be something in between. Yep, mediocrity.....
  3. Well, now it's down to DeAngelo. I have no idea what the league will do. I know San Filippo was reporting that the two teams did talk to the league and there will be resolution. If that is indeed the case, I'm expecting that there's probably going to be additional pieces added to the deal to make it more palatable to the league. Maybe DeAngelo, the salary retention and a fringe prospect/player for a half decent prospect and late draft pick.
  4. It's going to be interesting to see who else gets brought in. I still think Allison and Laczynski will be given walking papers, Laughton will probably get dealt and with Hayes gone, that's two left wingers, a right winger and a center that will need to be filled. And yes, I fully expect Briere hours dumpster diving to fill those roles. The days of high end free agent signings are gone. It's about development now and that's all what I care about for the next two to three seasons. Can some of the guys take the next step in their NHL careers? Can some of the guys make the jump from the AHL to the NHL? Most important - can Carter Hart get his mental game together and just play consistently from one game to the next? Far too often, he had meltdowns in that he's too hard on himself when he lets in a bad goal and he just can't let things go and it negatively affects his play for several games. He has to learn to let **** go and just relax and play.
  5. I think Allison is a goner as well. He simply can't keep healthy. You fart in his general direction and he's on the injured list. I think Foerster takes his spot on the third line and possibly Brink ends up on the fourth. You could probably or Desnoyers on that 4th line as well and just use Deslauriers as the extra forward. That fourth line could really surprise people.
  6. Addition by subtraction. With DeAngelo next to go, the only person Briere needs to move on from is Sanheim. As much as I'd love him back (I think the guy made things bad for himself trying to justify the contract Schmuck gave him because he looked like he was ready to break out), it's going to be tough to convince him he's wanted even though they tried to deal him.
  7. There's going to be players being moved. Don't forget either that Leonard can play all forward positions. He just happened to be a right winger on perhaps the best line in all of minor hockey. I'm not opposed to Leonard. The draft is about drafting the best talent available. Leonard won't be on the big club for a minimum of two years anyways, so lots can happen between now and then. I'm more concerned if the Flyers decide to reach for Reinbacher, Sandin-Pellika or Wallinder. I think everyone just needs to take a collective breath and let Briere's vision of what he wants the club to look like takes shape.
  8. The league is probably on the Flyers case because Bobby Clarke used to do this all the time in the days of the old waiver draft. He got nailed one year for sending Pete Peters to Winnipeg and then took Shawn Cronin. After the draft, he traded Cronin for Peters. I get that there wasn't a salary cap back then, but the Flyers tried to cheat the system to keep Peters (I believe they protected Ron Hextall and Bruce Hoffort) without exposing him to the waiver draft. Bobby Clarke used to do so sorts of shady ****.
  9. Well, I feel like the deals are going to collapse. Now we'll see how good of a GM Briere is. He has no choice now but to move the players mentioned. They can't come back into the locker room knowing that they were going to be moved and you can bet they'll be pissed that they're in a place where they aren't wanted. Danny's going to have to get real creative to pull these moves off. It's too bad about the TDA trade because there's no reason why that should have gone down the drain. Take whatever prospect they're offering and move on. If Ponomarev was the guy, then you run with him. Worst case is that he doesn't pan out and goes back to Russia. Something else must have been going on there for that to collapse.
  10. Agreed. Getting that horrible player and toxic personality off the team is critical to the rebuild. It's true about one bad apple and the damage it can do. DeAngelo can only be neutral when he's in an environment in which strong leadership personalities can keep him in line.
  11. The fact that both the Hayes/Sanheim deal and the DeAngelo deal are being held up isn't a good sign. Hopefully Krug will sign off on a potential Florida move and we can get these moves out of the way. The last thing anyone wants is for players to be here who aren't wanted here. That can lead to a really bad locker room, especially when a guy like DeAngelo is in there.
  12. They must be thinking something big. This feels like either a blockbuster is about to go down or it's going to fizzle into nothing.
  13. Oooh..... Now that's interesting. That really changed the complexion of the deal. Now to make it fit cap wise....
  14. It might be. I'm hoping they don't give up on Sanheim though. I think he can bounce back and if DeAngelo goes, he becomes the defacto number one power play defenseman (which he always should have been).
  15. I'm wondering if it's a Hayes/Laughton package going to St Louis. Laughton, Hayes, retention on the Hayes contract and a throw in like Wade Allison.
  16. Just wait until draft day when Schmuck's on the Sportsnet draft show and he's giving his opinion on things. There should be done golden words and quotes on there. Let's see if he talks with Briere and Tortorella.....
  17. Maybe it's more than just Laughton in the St Louis deal. I'm wondering if Danny is trying to peddle Hayes in that direction as well. However, Ryan Johansson just got tested to Colorado and Nashville is eating 50% of his contract. Danny gonna have to eat more than 30% of the Hayes contract.
  18. Just wait until they get rid of physicality all together in hockey. It's going to be like watching figure skating.....lol
  19. You know what's strange? I've read numerous scoring reports on the players, but there's one thing missing. I remember when scouts used to identify players who hated losing more than they loved winning. What ever happened with those types of players? It's seems like they no longer exist. Those are players you win with.
  20. Well, the way I look at it is that there's Tippett, Atkinson, Konecny, Foerster, Allison, and Brink. Atkinson will be moved at some point, especially if he's healthy this year. That's a trade deadline acquisition. We all know that Briere is taking calls on Konecny. Allison can't stay healthy. So that leaves Tippett, Brink and Foerster. Now, Tippett can also play the left side, so that's a bonus. Gauthier will more than likely be a left winger at the pro level and there's still Farabee. So, potentially, your left side could be Tippett/C.Gauthier/Farabee. The right side could be Leonard/Foerster/Brink/E. Gauthier. I'd love a center. Everyone knows that I want Riley Heidt at 22. But you can see what Briere is potentially putting together, piece by piece. Now, nobody knows what's going to happen on draft day. It's possible Briere surprised everyone and selects two defensemen (Reinbacher and Dragicevic?). Hell, he could go completely off board and really do something that makes people go "what?!?!?". It's all just speculation at this point. With that being said, Button has hit on numerous Flyers choices, so he might be on to something. I do get where you're coming from with the over abundance of right wingers though. I absolutely love this time of year. Let the speculation run wild!!!!
  21. Watch some video of Leonard of you get a chance. He's a fun player to watch. He's Brady Tkachuk-lite.
