    Selke candidate inbound!!!!

He's gonna be a beauty when he gets here. He's Kaprizov with a chip on his shoulder.

However, the Flyers need to desperately hire an offensive minded assistant coach to start grooming him to takeover so that he and Michkov got the ground running.

I know this is mostly fantasy but the biggest component in that whole deal would be did he like Hakstol and did Hak really like him.

It is one thing to chose your players it's another thing to just play the hand you were dealt (he was already on the team when he took over as coach).

I just look at the Kraken's lineup and i think he would slot very nicely on their 2nd line between Jaden Schwartz and Andre Burakovski. Any ways my 2 cents on it.

I'm pretty sure Couturier got along with Hakstol. It was Dave who moved Claude to the left side that allowed Couturier to center that line. I'm certain there's big props there.

As for Couturier in Seattle, you have to put him as the top guy. And could you picture the battles with Couturier and MacKinnon or Eichel or McDavid? That would be some incredible hockey to watch.

I thought Cooter looked good last night, but I didn't watch the whole game.

Couturier looked really good last night. He definitely didn't look like a guy who missed two years and he seemed like he got better and better as the game went on.

The offense is still a little bit of a work in progress and that might have been the only area that needed improvement. Hopefully Farabee on his wing will help.

Didn't watch the game a whole lot so can't confirm or deny this.

But this is a great report if true and if this kid can grow his game and be the #1 they need so bad well it is going to help speed this rebuild up.

So being out of Ivan's shadow is a good thing.

I'm pulling for the kid Flyers need this from him.

I love that he understands the mission and that he can be the leader the kids and most importantly the team needs.

Sanheim is going to have a monster year. After the broken for debacle last year and learning yet another system, Sanheim got time to work out and he added 15 pounds of muscle to his frame. He's a solid 6'3, 220 pounds now and he's basically been given the green light to take over. With his skating and puck handling, he should easily hit the 50 point mark this year. Best trade that never happened.

It would be sweet if Coots could show he can play and be effective again.

I know it will never happen Danny trading his former roommate but it would be a good flip to the Kraken to shore up their center position and leadership.

    If nothing else replace Wennberg.

Take Wennberg and his 1 year 4.5 mill back with say a 2025 1st I'd take that.

But they may have younger options around the NHL if they were to want to improve down the middle.

    Just dreaming aloud this a.m.

I wonder if the Kraken would consider moving Shane Wright instead. I'd take a chance on him. Francis and Hakstol are ****** his development.

I would kick the tires on Adam Boqvist and see what it would take....

Well, this franchise ran Ghost out of town. Pretty certain that the senior advisors would do the same here. Boqvist doesn't bring enough ROAR PHYSICALITY to the position in their minds.......

    Flyers prospects point totals:

    Alex Ciernik 6 GP, 3G, 2A (SWE)

    Denver Barkey 5 GP, 2G, 4A (OHL)

    Carter Sotheran 3 GP, 1G, 2A (WHL)

    Oliver Bonk 5 GP, 0G, 3A (OHL)

    Cutter Gauthier 1 GP, 1G, 0A (NCAA)

    Cole Knuble 2GP, 0G, 0A (NCAA)

    Matteo Mann 0GP, 0G, 0A (QMJHL)

    Goalies:

    Yegor Zavragin 5 GP, 1.38 GAA, .958 SV% (MHL)

    Alexei Kolosov 9 GP, 2.13 GAA, .921 SV% (KHL)

    Carson Bjarnason 3 GP, 4.02 GAA, .892 SV% (WHL)

    Farming is fun!!!

I hope all the to prospects have big years.

I also hope Laperriere gets fired soon. Gendron, Desnoyers and Wisdom all on different lines instead of playing together to develop chemistry. He really is a ****** doorknob who has no business coaching and developing players.

Ristolainen placed on IR today, will miss the first 3 games with an “undisclosed injury.” The word on Saturday after practice was he’s “good to go for Opening Night.”

the more things change the more they stay the same…

Too bad he couldn't be shot into outer space and never to return.

    On this team?

    Who is better suited?

I mean, I understand the concept here. "on a good team that guy plays lower in the lineup...blah, etcetera, yada".

But a.) the Flyers aren't a good team,I don't think they'll be horrible or unwatchable, but they are not considered a championship team even if everyone reaches their ceiling. 2 Does it hurt to make Morgan Frost earn that spot? * Couturier one of my favorites, needs to show he can play NHL regular season shifts and then where is his level of play? In the pre season it wasn't ummm, dynamite. So yeah. Noah Cates is your second line centerman. Welcome to hell.

Honestly, I'm not opposed to using Frost as the number one center, Cates as the number two and Couturier as the number three to start the year.

I know that a number still have questions about Frost and his role on the club, but the second half of last season showed he can do the job.

As for Cates, honestly, I see Yanni Gourde upside with him. Just let him continue to play and let him have his linemates. I wouldn't be opposed to seeing Laughton bumped to the fourth line, Brink moved to the left side of Cates and Atkinson to his right side. I know Tortorella said he likes his fourth line and it won't change, but dropping Laughton to the fourth with Poehling and Hathaway makes it that much better and would be forechecking demons.

I'm hoping this lineup gets them a top 3 lottery pick. Wishing for anything more at this point is a fools errand. But it is the Flyers, so anything can happen.

You never know how the draft will unfold. They had the 7th overall choice and ended up with the 2nd best talented player in the draft. A pick in the top 8 is perfectly fine. You're still building and you're still getting a good player, regardless.

Honestly, I don't think this club is going to win a lot of games. The defense is still a major work in progress, the goaltending is still debatable, the forwards are decent, and the coaching of special teams is suspect. I see them with a bottom five finish. But I want to see competitiveness and some of the core guys become guys who hate losing more than they live winning.

  11. I get some are not happy with the Allison move, but let's face it, the guy is always hurt. If he blossoms elsewhere, good for him. But during his time in Philadelphia, he was always hurt. He simply couldn't be relied upon. I'm guessing this means Foerster and Brink are making the team.

Patrick Thoreson (the one testicle wonder) had 5 assists for the Flyers in 21 games. The next year he signed with the KHL and finished top 3 with 71 pts in 55 games. In 7 years with the KHL (5 of them with St.Petersburg) he was well over a point a game = crap league.

The KHL is also a notoriously tough league in terms of developing young players. Thoreson went there as a 26 year old and they gave him all the ice time in the world. Kirill Kaprizov was there until he was 23 and he didn't have a point per game season until his final year there. Context and usage are everything. Michkov is going to be ok.

Would have went with Sandstrom for so he could help push towards a top 5 pick.

Now with Ersson they'll be pushing for a Wild card spot.

    🤬

I don't think the players, coaching staff or management want a full on tank. And I kind of get it. If you create an environment of losing, then the players become accustomed to it. Now, if the Flyers are out of the playoff race by December/January, then yes, embrace a tank. Move players, add draft picks and prospects and take on some extra salary to make the returns that much greater.

Personally, I think they'll be out of the race by mid November, but you can always be competitive, even when losing. I think that's what they're going to try to establish this year.

I know it wasn't here it was somewhere else but I agree what you said I would have snagged Jacob Bernard-Docker as a right hand shot as the 6th or 7th guy and waived Seeler.

    But that's just me.

I've always been a fan of his. Just a silky smooth defensive defenseman that is smart with the puck and can get it out of the zone with relative ease. He's not a physical guy and that seems to be a problem with teams, which I don't understand. Why the brawn over brains thinking is still endorsed is beyond me.

yes there’s that but mostly it’s the cap hit that will make teams balk at acquiring Couturier. He and Atkinson both looked good in the preseason, like their old selves. How long can they last? Hopefully long enough for Atkinson to attract some interest and an offer at the TD.

I think the best news about Couturier is that he's 100% healthy, not just his back. He had a chance to heal knee, ankle and shoulder injuries. The Flyers might end up having to do maintenance days with him and give him time off every now and again to ensure his health is good, similar to what they do in basketball.

Sam is a keeper.  One more year of development might not hurt. Felix was probably better than his numbers suggest, but I doubt he would see much time as backup.

I looked at Petersen's buyout numbers after the season. Not bad. You can't fault the guy for taking what was offered. But he is probably a tough trade.

I'm hoping Peterson refuses to report and becomes a free agent.

    Loaned to Lehigh Valley (AHL):

    Alexis Gendron (F)

    Zayde Wisdom (F)

    Mason Millman (D)

    Ethan Samson (D)

    Will Zmolek (D)

In addition, the Flyers have released defenseman Adam Karashik and goaltender Nolan Maier from their professional try-outs (PTO) and both will report to the Phantoms.

    Wisdom - Desnoyers - Gendron

If Puckhead can't put that together as a line, then he should be **** canned. Enough messing around. Let these guys play and build chemistry together.

  18. I think we're all going to have to live with Couturier not going anywhere. Too many people like him. The only way he gets moved is if he wants out.

Atkinson should garner a pick of he's healthy and scoring goals. If that's the case, the Flyers might be best served waiting until the deadline to move him.
