For what it's worth, they just reviewed the Rinaldo/Crombeen fight on HNIC. Don Cherry absolutely defended Rinaldo, saying he didn't punch Crombeen while he was on the ice, just on the way down. Of course anyone watching the game with objectivity would already know this. MacLean was arguing he punched him while down, and there should be a suspension, blah blah blah. Like I said during the game, the announcers did not mention anything when Lecavalier did the exact same thing (punching his opponent on the way to the ice) as Rinaldo. Good for Grapes!

The opening ceremony is pretty ridiculous so far. During the children's storybook portion it is crazy Tolkien's characters got snubbed. Even harder is realizing that if LA wins Gags won't automatically get his name on the cup since he only played 34 regular season games. I think you need 40 or at least 1 game in the finals. I think that LA could petition for his name to go on anyway. Probably a good chance they would given the Kings are Flyers West.

It would be nice but he only played 34 games this season, I think they need to have 40 games played if they are not playing in the finals. It would be one of the few nice things to come out of this crapfest of a playoff season.

I took a quote from another poster and spun it into a new thread. This play (non-play) deserves a spotlight for it's crap factor. Briere on Zajac's goal. http://video.nhl.com/videocenter/console Definition of a pilon. He does nothing but watch the play unfurl. He has to see Zajac digging the puck out from behind the net. Had he been back along the boards to intercept a pass he would have been doing something at least. No, he is right there in front of the net. He only needed to take 2-3 strides to come up into the play and lay a shoulder into Zajac as he comes around for the wrapper. He may not have arrived in time to stop it, but at the very least he is in Zajac's peripheral vision and may have impacted the way he plays the puck..... maybe he banks it off the board to a defender instead. Love Danny's postseason play, but that was inexcuseable.... as noted by Gus.

I think you are taking the whole thing too literally. The humor is in the fact that the "book titles" are false. They are the opposite of reality. For example: Lessons in Tightrope Walking: Keys to Balance by Scott Hartnell Hartnell falls all the time, so his balance is bad, so he could not possibly have enough to say about balance to fill a book. Good Clean Hockey Plays: An Illustrated Guide by the Pittsburgh Penguins The Pens are pretty dirty, they take cheap shots. The illustrations would be of Malkin rabbit punching someone while down on the ice, or of Neal launghing himself airborne at a player. The joke is that the Pens do not have enough to say about good clean play to fill a book. Our Time on Dry Island by Mike Richards and Jeff Carter The humor is due to the reputation they both got for partying all the time, allegedly refusing to get on the drey island bandwagon, and subsequent trades of both players. It could be assumed they spent no time on dry island and obviously don't know enough to write a book about it. Hope it helps

Rags won so we have the Debs or the Cats next round. I would rather face the Devils as we have fared well against them the past couple years. The Panthers could be a crapshoot. Their poor record this year aside, they are definitely not the same team they were before this season. It would make a pretty great hypothetical run to the cup to have to go through the Penguins, then Devils, then Rangers.
