  1. Two things really contributed to tonight's loss. Bryz really needs to tighten it up,when the other teams jam the net he freaks, panics and goes down, completely helpless. The "Sports Authority" is having a 50% off sale on all"BALLS",the boys need to rush right down and buy a bunch before the next game!
  2. Nobody recovers from surgery in three months. He is starting to resemble Bob Cratchett on skates. If Pronger continues to play high minutes, imagine what kind of shape he'll be in come playoffs. Homer needs to get him some real help.
  3. What is happening to the Flyers(penalty wise) is so obvious it hard to ignore. The way penalties are being called are tougher than any teams I've watched this year. The NHL wants the "Jets" to do well, but the officials got a little overly exuberant last night.Maybe the NHL has a stringency rating, you know A,B,C,D,etc. for certain teams? The Wild had some questions about the officiating. It kinda sucks if your trying to win a Stanley Cup in an unequal field!
  4. Winnipeg is still great! I'm from So. Jersey(my entire life) and I used to fly a lot,so I always had to go through customs.Flying from Philly to Winnipeg was like driving over the Ben Franklin Bridge.(Duck Soup) The people were great, there was a big difference in the exchange rate,Canada is a nice experience, life goes on up there cold or not. The last time I visited,it was 27 below. The amazing thing were FREE,yes free oil heater receptacles to plug you vehicle in,everywhere!
  5. Shelley does exactly what he is ask and expected to do every time he is on the ice.The fact he is on the bench is not because he won't do what is ask of him.He was hired to provide some balls, because nobody else on the team, except Rinaldo, would.Everything Shelley does for the team is Lavi's choice. This team is a soft team, nobody steps up,in the beginning of the year they looked pretty good. What happened? Last night's game was a victim of "The Canadian Curse" !
  6. Simmonds gives 110% every time he is on the ice! what happened to jamming the net? Did Lavi take the night off? Bobbo can't give a sparkling performance playing a few games a month. Something seem to be holding the whole team back, could it be Lavi and his chronic bellyaching about penalties? It isn't one player not performing, nobody seem sure of their role, but don't dare get a penalty. Maybe Clarkie could help Lavi with the Flyer's hockey concept. If you can't beat "em" in the alley, you'll never beat "em" on the ice!!!!! F.S.
  7. Winnipeg is a great place, the type of people I met up there were just like Philly,Delaware Valley types.Bryz has to learn that unlike his native country, in North America we are all connected via the media,etc..
  8. Schenn didn't produce as expected,in camp or in the early season, some of the other rookies did,so unlike Peter White(you guys remember him, right?) Schenn has to earn his way on the "BIG" club.I for one hope he makes it.
  9. Can't blame Bobbo,if you don't play him,he gets rusty. The whole team played soft,Pronger looked like the high mileage is really starting to effect him,Coburn was his usual ineffective self.(some games he looks great)The rest of the defense took the night off! Lavi is looking more like Andy Reid every game. The guys looked like they really wanted to play(offense),but as long as they have Lavi's wagon to pull, its going to be tough! There is a ton of talent and enthusiasm here being squandered by incompetent coaching.
  10. I don't think anybody here doesn't want Schenn. We just don't want a Peter White deal!
  11. The word "Inciting" is something I haven't heard before. The NHL officiating needs a lot more scrutiny, via instant replays, coaches being allowed to contest the calls,etc.. As I mentioned in the initial post officiating in the other game was using a different set of rules. If the NHL want to be a national sport, the officiating needs to improve!
  12. Last night got five minutes for fighting and get this, ten minutes for inciting. Its a first for me,"Little Zack Picked on the Big Guys"???? After last week's debacle involving Lucic/Miller and that idiot Shanahan, it appears some officials have an agenda. I watched the Tampa/Pitt game between the periods and was amazed by all the uncalled interference/clutching/holding/hooking on Tampa. It seems like a different set of rules for each team, but I guess that can be expected from a league twenty years behind all other major league sports!
  13. Schenn has been available to play in the NHL for three years and never been able to crack LA's line up,he comes to the Flyers and it is starting to become clearer, why. So far he is a great AHL'er .(remember Mike Manelok?) Homer said"The best player not in the NHL", is that an endorsement? Homer's greatest move this year is getting the kid with the 8th pick! Now if you compare "The Kid" to Schenn the difference is pretty glaring. (Reminding everybody to thank Jeff Carter for the 8th pick)
  14. By St Louis standing behind the Flyer's blue line stationary, allows them to control 2/3 of the ice. More physical players could pile in to them. Then they might be called for it.
  15. Would a simple fix for stationary 1-3-1 teams be they must stay behind their own red line until the puck crosses? This would only be in effect after play stoppages and at the beginning of the period when the puck carrying team is coming out of their own end. Any other ideas?
  16. If the league really wanted totally objective, consistent penalty calls,it could use instant replay, overhead moving camera, offer the coaches the option of a red flag to contest the call. The primary opposition would be the officials, just as in major league baseball the UMPS are the ones that sing "Mammy" the loudest. For example the collision between Lucic&Ryan Miller, Shanahan says no foul,Kerry Fraser says yes foul. This is the type of consistency/inconsistency that exist in the NHL. The NHL is twenty years behind the other major league sports in protecting the players!
  17. The Flyers get called for a lot of penalties that other teams are not called for. For example Talbot's non-call in Miami,in last nights Penguins/Avalanche a lot of hard checks went uncalled, something Rinaldo gets nailed for every time he is on the ice.Excessive penalties for the Flyers have been around since the cup years. Lavi needs to talk to the league if he is really serious, the number one thing he needs to worry about is "PUCKS IN THE NET"! Instead of his chronic nagging, consider its his coaching style that creates these situations, not the guys.
  18. As long as that line is together all your going to see is the other teams top shut-down guys. A line like Briere,Simmonds,&JVR is a good combination and harder to defend against, can't say the same the "G" line. Jagr would really benefit having more physical linemates, giving him some space. Its appears Lavi's system stifles really creative, offensive play and the defense after Pronger has too many European style players(deer in the headlights types) who are no-shows. Coburn looked good against the Panthers. A win is always good! Q
  19. A lot of the Flyers loss is because Lavi doesn't use whats available. Tampa put their best checkers out against the top lines and it worked. The Flyers are still too soft! Tampa got away with a ton of uncalled interference ,the officials didn't notice. Lavi, with two HOF guys,a bunch of first rounders, and a fifty-one million dollar goalie, is not doing the job! Q
  20. All these talented forwards and Lavi still doesn't know what to do with them. The top line plays against the other teams best checking lines against them and then what? JVR has one of the hottest slapshots in the league,Lavi can't get it in the game, even Jagr thought JVR should spend more time in the slot.Has anybody wondered why JVR doesn't take faceoffs? When he races down, takes a shot on net and skates behind the net, instead of to the net, maybe pick up a rebound? Even on the top line,Jagr:Hall of Famer,Superstar feeding Giroux and Hartnell pucks. Whats Lavi thinking? He seems not to appreciate hard working,in your face (typical Flyers) players. Lavi's ability or inability is holding these guys back from what should be a super team! Q
  21. After Pronger, its a long step down in the Flyers defense. In the Winnipeg had two guys in the Flyer's crease every time they had the puck.Coburn needs to grow a set, somebody has to lead these guys when Pronger is on the bench,he won't be here forever! Whats missing is what Rinaldo has, every time he is on the ice,we're on the edge of our seats waiting to see whats going to happen, that's whats missing on the "D". Think Ed Jovanoski! Q
  22. This guy is the real thing, classic example of a well coached young player. He plays it right on both sides of the puck, reminds me of Ron Francis.Homer really hit the jackpot with this selection! Wayne Simmonds reminds me (style wise) of Clarkie.Hard driving style, does what ever it takes to put the puck in the net, gives 100% every time he is on the ice. All these young guys look like a bright future for the Flyers! Q
  23. Since Pronger's injury the Flyer's "D" have fallen apart,Coburn is one of the biggest guys on the team and plays like he is one of the smallest. None of these guys will clear the front of the net, harass opposing players, and play scared. Nobody takes the lead! Q
  24. JVR has one of the hottest slap shots in the in the league, when is the last you saw him use it? Jagr mentioned in an earlier interview JVR would add a lot by spending more time in the slot. JVR does what Lavi tells him to do! Lavi doesn't measure up,its become very obvious with the addition of all this new talent. I've already posted at the "Cesspool" this team has two active hall of fame players,a ton of high first round picks,a fifty-one million dollar goalie,a very expensive backup, and only one line seem doable. Its Lavi! Q
