  1. Hey, it is early in this guy's career and I think he is amazing, but he's pulled a Malkin in the last two games. Time for the Big G to stand up. He wants to be the best, he better figure out a way to get it done. He's playing like he did against Boston last year--invisible.

The next game will be a defining moment in his career. Injured or not, he better show up and make a difference.

  2. To pick on one player following that pathetic effort is really senseless. Everyone except Brzy and Wellwood **** the bed Tue night.

yeah it was all Briere's fault on Tuesday...

i think i can find instances of every flyers forward watching the devils play hockey tuesday night. Our top 9 was atrocious, so to act like it's all Danny's fault is like saying the titanic sank because of a faulty O ring on bilge pump 4.

the well documented fact that he's not great defensively isn't exactly a secret so to act surprised and indignant over it is a little silly.

  3. Last night's game reminded me of those bad, boring Devils - Flyers games of the late 1990's/early 2000's. Same kind of crappy hockey. Do the devils have any skilled offensive players, btw? They miss the net quite a bit. The pens would have lit the flyers up for 10 last night, the way the flyers played.

  4. Same where I was. And it took the life out of the team for a few seasons....

I could only imagine. I am guessing that took place during game 7 and it had something to do with Scott Stevens leveling Eric Lindros.

I remember the hit like it was yesterday. It completely took the life out of the gathering I was at watching the game.

  5. This team is better than the '10 team, and dare I say, much better than the '97 team. I say the '85 and '87 teams were better than this squad, particularly because of their goaltending and better d-men.

As far as pure offensive pop: this is the best Flyers team I can recollect, because I cannot recollect those famous '70's teams. I was born in '71.

  6. Rest, yes. Partying at Nickleback concerts... not so much. they need to keep their focus and their drive going. But I'm not worried about them going to a concert or anything like that, I'm just worried about momentum. The team definitely needed the time off for health reasons for sure. Could you imagine the layover if the Flyers swept the series?

Okay, so they cannot go to a concert? It is not like they are out on a M. Rich and J. Carter all night drunken romp.

  7. I thought he had a strong game. He had a few scoring ops in the second and third (I missed almost entire 1st). Nothing amazing, but the guy plays a sound game. If G played, G would have had maybe 3 goals and 2 or more assists.

  8. @medeaglesfan

like the comparison. if it works out that way i think we'll all be happy. i think G is a little slicker than Sakic was but does not have Joe's shot. G competes like pitbull the way forsberg did. my replica has #28 i think i'll be solid for a couple of years....

I definitely can see all the Forsberg parallels and don't necessarily disagree, but I just didn't see Forsberg as such a complete player as Giroux. G's defensive capabilities put him on a higher level than Foppa, IMO, thus I liken him more to Sakic. Sakic logged heavy numbers in his career due to his more complete game.... But I guess I only know Foppa's game based on his few years with the Flyers....If I'm totally wrong, I accept that.

In reality, he is the next Claude Giroux...not the second carnation of someone else. And that is what is great about him.

By the way, this kid in Edmonton with the double name and 30 points looks like he could be in Crosby's class--a class above everyone else. But he is just a rookie and it is still early.

  9. Okay, with a career 1.3 ppg average, Crosby is really in a league of his own...but Giroux is now at the top of the remainder of the pack. He is a superstar. Crosby's career unfortunately, might be winding down like the Etrain's did, and that is sad--like him or not (that's me right over here). Giroux--he's been relatively healthy his whole career. He could be the Joe Sakic of his era....
