  1. Andy S. Be thankful that you get to see hockey. I live in Ecuador and all I get is FUTBOL 24-7. Take care. If anyone has questions about this country, just ask. I have lived here for 2 years, and what I don't know, I'll find out for you. PuckMeister
  2. To all: I know he has a NMC, but I'd seriously entertain moving Briere. If for no other reason than it frees up cap $. I'd also consider moving JVR for Luke or Nash. In a perfect world, we'd get a goalie along with Nash. We also seem to have a number of forwards at the AHL that are basically same size and talent who will probably only see a cup of coffee at the next level. Wellwood comes to mind as well as Z who still needs to play the defense role the is required. Surely some of these guys could be packaged for depth or picks.
  3. FanForLife, I did anticipate a response to the ffect that Schenn's mins. have decreased. However, I wonder if he is just ready for a change of scenery. Like Sharp fell into disfavor with Hitch it could also be the case with Schenn. He is young and has upside to develope. I am aware that Briere has a NMC, but he might be willing to waive it since I doubt the Flyers are true cup contenders this year. It would certainly free up cap $s. I guess you liked the idea of trading JVR so one out of three is not so bad. Thanks for the response. PuckMeister
  4. Hi Guys, Here's what we need to do to remedy this situation at least temporarily. First trade Briere to Toronto for Schenn or to Nashville for Suter and hope we can get him to sign long term. Or trade JVR to Nashville for the same reason. Trade Wellwood to Montreal for Gil and this would help for this year and some years ahead. This may also negate haveing to sign Carle. Could also use him as trade bait or draft pick. Then, concentrated hard on d-men/goalie in the draft. Have a great day, PuckMeister
  5. Dear Spin, Thanks for the response. I can see your point of view and respect it. However, for the amount of money these guys are getting paid, and at this point in the season, perhaps Peter should comment in the media to light a fire under some butts. They should be held responsible for uninspired play and a benching for a game or two shouldn't shatter their ego. If it does, then they shouldn't be wearing orange and black. PuckMeister
  6. To Rad and everyone: To answer the question of who is giving effort and who is not. Isn't that the coaches job? For Pete to say he has to go back and look at that speaks volumes. He has a ring side seat to the effort or lack thereof. It is his responsibility to motivate these guys and bench those who are not putting forth the required effort. They get paid plenty to play hard each and every game. I for one am tired of the same lame excuses of young players, need to adjust to longer schedule, crappy defense, inconsistant goalies. Seems like a redundant theme. Paul needs to bust a move and make some trades to shake things up. Focus on promising d-men and a GOOD goalie. Amen.
  7. BD, Agree with your assessment of the beer. Both have distinctly different tastes, however, the Czech version is not too bad. It's their Pilsner that really sucks! Take care.
  8. Hi Guys, Just a note re Ceske Budejovice. I lived in Wien(Vienna) for three years and had 4 show dogs with me. Our first show outside of Austria was in this city. The Germans named it Budwise, and you can tell it sounds familiar. This is where the original Budweiser name and beer originates from. Around 1992-1993 A. Bush was taken to International Court in a battle over naming rights of the beer. As it turned out, A. Bush paid a king's ransom for the rights to keep the name but had to promise the Czech brewery that they would never try to brew the beer the same way as the original brew. Sorry, this has nothing to do with the Flyers but I thought you might be interested.
  9. To All: I am as frustrated as anyone who follows this team. However, I am wondering about the effect the youth playing in front of Bryzbye and his lack of familiarity with the shooters has/is having on the end ressults. I never figured we'd be as high in the standings considering all of the changes. I live in Ecuador and am able to follow via the net so I do not have the opportunity to see any games. Much like a one-eyed man. I yield to your closer observations. PuckMeister
