  1. It has been a part of my stance for quite some time. It is time for the role of "enforcer" to end in the NHL.
  2. For sure......if the referees aren't going to call diving, the players should try to sell the play in favor of their team.

    Asham

From what I recall it wasn't his playoff performance, but it was more the inconsistency during the season, when he just like Richie, Carter tooks nights off. I just don't think Asham and Laviolette were always on the same page.

    Asham

I thought one of the main reasons why Asham wasn't resigned had to do with Laviolette not seeing the expected consistent effort out of him throughout the season. Wasn't Asham scratched a few games as well?

ha ha, short memory eh? Jagr CHOSE the Flyers!!!!!!!
  6. Thanks for the link. Please post the rest as they are published. I just may make this a new sig, lol 'There is not much use for an enforcer who loses fights.'
  7. http://phillysportsdaily.com/flyers/2011/12/04/ducks-boudreau-slams-flyers-for-diving/ Regardless of where he’s behind the bench, he doesn’t like or respect the Flyers. On Saturday, after his Ducks debut was spoiled on Friday night at the Honda Center with a 4-3 comeback overtime win by the Flyers the night prior, Boudreau couldn’t help but commend his club for some good things, discuss the emotional week, and oh yeah, trash the Flyers for diving. “I knew exactly what Philly was going to do,” Boudreau told the OC Register. ”I knew the guys that were going to dive and they did. They got away with it. The only one that didn’t get away with it was [Wayne] Simmonds. It looked like he got shot. And he went down until he start peeking and no one was calling it and then he had to get back up.” Boudreau was highlighting a play late in the contest, when Ducks forward Corry Perry incidentally collided with Simmonds in the Flyers’ zone. Neither player was watching the other when Perry wiped out Simmonds with a blindside hit, who crumpled to the ground, dropped his stick and eyeballed a call. “[scott] Hartnell looked like he’d gotten shot by a bazooka,” said the new coach, whose new team ranks third in the league in minors taken. “He didn’t miss a shift and then he comes in and scores the tying goal.”
  8. I don't think I made a point of that nature, the opponent isn't allowed to charge or interfere with the goalie beyond incidental contact. 61.2 Penalty - In all cases in which an attacking player initiates intentional or deliberate contact with a goalkeeper, whether or not the goalkeeper is inside or outside the goal crease, and whether or not a goal is scored, the attacking player will receive a penalty (minor or major, as the Referee deems appropriate). In all cases where the infraction being imposed is to the attacking player for hindering the goalkeeper’s ability to move freely in his goal crease, the penalty to be assessed is for goalkeeper interference. In exercising his judgment, the Referee should give more significant consideration to the degree and nature of the contact with the goalkeeper than to the exact location of the goalkeeper at the time of the contact. I disagree, the defenseman surely had time to get out of the way of Miller. Why not Tootoo? Tootoo had time to at least attempt to stop, maybe run into the goal net, but instead he chose skate the path right through Miller If this was Bob or Bryz, this forum would be screaming foul play for a suspension.
  9. Um, sorry but the goaltender is not in the net to be the recipient of checks, he is there to stop the puck. 69.7 Fines and Suspensions - An attacking player who, in the judgment of the Referee, initiates contact with the goalkeeper, whether inside or outside the crease, in a fashion that would otherwise warrant a penalty, will be assessed an appropriate penalty (minor or major and/or game misconduct) and will be subject to additional sanctions as appropriate pursuant to Rule 28 – Supplementary Discipline. Tootoo received a 5min major for charging and a game misconduct and is subject to additional sanctions.
  10. Maybe, like I said I don't think he had premeditated intent, but it doesn't appear as if he tried to stop though either, or get out of the way. I think the reason why this should be suspendable is because Miller was in his crease as compared to the last episode, and the league should send a message that charging the goalie at full speed is not an acceptable behavior in the NHL.
  11. It doen't appear as if Tootoo tried to get out of Miller's way. It doesn't appear as if he tried to slow up. And he lost the puck. But I also don't think it was intentional. I think what also needs to be looked at here is Miller pounding Tootoo's head in the ice.
  12. http://video.nhl.com...id=35&id=139657 Wow first game back, lol. Check out Miller pounding Tootoo's head in the ice. This one gets a suspension.
  13. So of my four choices, the only one that has merit is Jagr seems to have some game back.
  14. Laviolettes pre-game interview stated that Schenn will get some PP time and that this is a brand new start for him. There are other noteables in tonights game: Hopefully Bryz plays strong in net. Jagr is recovered and is able to play the entire game without further injury. Does Walker play and how does he fit in the defensive mix? and last I want to see Hiller's 3-D mask.
  15. So what do you think about the Kane experiment at center?
  16. Yeah Bak, Really cool! Can't wait to check it out on the ice tonight!
  17. Does anyone know when the tickets will come in the mail?

    Survival without Pronger

The Flyers have a tough task at hand over the next four weeks if they want to stay in the playoff race through out the month of December. We have 13 games ahead of us until the Classic showdown against the Rangers. Of those thirteen games only three, the Penguins, Lightening, and Bruins will be home games. In addition over the month of December all of the teams we play against except for maybe the Avalanche are currently playoff contenders. The Flyers will need to play each game, each period and each shift in survival mode in order to win without their captain. Pronger has shown to have a significant effect on the team's ability to win games. Not only does he play a lot of minutes but the stats show that his play on the ice gives this team a better chance to win every night. Over the last two seasons the Flyers have a record of 41-18-7 when Pronger plays, without him they are 23-19-8. This shows that the team has only been able to win about 55% of their games when Pronger doesn't play. Pronger's presence on the ice affects all aspects of the game. The opposition has shown to score an average of 3.06 goals per game without Pronger compared to only 2.64 goals per game when he plays. In addition, the Flyers power play percentage drops from 19.9% to 12.3% when he is not present. While the quality of our power play decreases the opposition's power play percentage increases from an average of 15.9% to 19.6%. The numbers state the obvious and that is this team has a much more difficult time winning games without their leader on and off the ice. So can the Flyers survive this task ahead of them and stay in the playoff race? Last year's Eastern conference 9th place team the Hurricanes did not make the playoffs winning only 49% of their games, while the 6-8 place teams made it winning just 52% of the games. The parity of the league seems even tighter this season as both 9th and 10th place teams are winning 50% of their games and that there are 5 teams just 2 points out of 8th place. If the Flyers can win 55% of their games over the next month the stats show that it may be enough to keep them in a playoff race, but that seems much too close for comfort.
  19. tsn.ca has a transaction page but Walker isn't on it, so it might not have the waivers
  20. csnphilly reporting this also http://www.csnphilly.com/blog/flyers-talk/post/Walker-to-rejoin-Flyers--if-he-clears-wa?blockID=603974&feedID=695
  21. HBO hoping for more cameras, more access to Flyers, Rangers by Travis Hughes on Dec 1, 2011 5:55 PM EST in News HBO'S 24/7 is sadly not with the Flyers full time right now, meaning the current road trip out West won't be documented on the show, which debuts December 14 at 10 p.m. ET. But that's okay, because they're currently working on getting even more access to the Flyers and Rangers than they had a year ago with the Penguins and Capitals. Via the Canadian Press: Virtually the same 50 people who worked on last year's series are back again, including producers Scott Boggins and Bentley Weiner, and narrator Liev Schreiber. But viewers can expect some changes. For one, HBO is hoping to gain even more access than it had a year ago, when it showed footage from inside the dressing rooms, training rooms, players' houses, team planes and even the NHL's video room on a disputed goal review. "I can't really tell you what (else we'll do) yet because it's not approved, but we're hoping for other microphones and cameras in places outside the rink that'll give you a feel for everything that's being decided and going on," said Harmon.
  22. @Jack LOL I feel so much better, Thank you.
  23. Walker would have to clear waivers in order to be traded. Unless Homer is using this as an example of waiver issues that need to be addressed in the new CBA, this is just a throw your hands in the air " what the hell" type move.
  24. Any GM that wants to stick to Holmgren and his Flyers Start with the teams that are at the bottom of the pack first. Holmgren interviewed yesterday stated that many teams are looking to add a defenseman so it would be unrealistic to trade for one. So let us just give them one while we pay for half of it. wtf.
