  1. Not a cryin'ryan fan but that was a shitty hit worthy of suspension. The defenseman poke checks the puck and then skates behind the net. Tootoo had the room and the time to avoid the hit but chose to try and rub Miller out by leading with his arms up.
  2. Asham was more a victim of the breaking up the Center City Posse. Homer was trying to get Carter,Lupul,Upshall,Richards and Asham to ease up on the partying. Upshall was one of the first to go and then Lupul in the Pronger trade. Asham was not re-signed in Philly even though he was willing to give them a discount if he could stay there. Asham was one of Homer's worst non moves as a gm.......
  3. A good read. Is this going to be a prelude to a book? It is one that I would most certainly purchase. It really gives you a peek at the workings of the starter leagues in Canada.
  4. Kind of funny the way he takes a little dig at Pannacio...I do believe we could include Pronger in the smarmy crowd....The thing is, Pannacio pretty much voiced what 90% of the flyer fans were thinking...
  5. After watching the fight a second time, Asham literally saved Beagle from further injury by lowering him to the ice after he knocked him out. If he had let him drop head first, Beagle would have been leaving on a stretcher. The post fight Carcillo actions were uncalled for and if you read the article, Asham says as much himself.
  6. Because they are that thin on D right now. Walker would be an ok 5/6 D-man for the Flyers if he wasn't making 1.7 mil a season with a bump to 2 mil next year. Everyone out there knows he is ridiculously overpaid and unless they are just dead set on screwing Homer, he will make it through waivers too.
  7. I think Aaron was one of the early victims of the break up the crew attempts by Homer. I know for a fact that Aaron wanted to stay in Philly but Homer did not resign him as an attempt to split up the Richards/Carter entourage. I really hope that he is able to find his way back to the Flyers, all the guy ever did here was show that he was one of the best enforcer/players on the ice in the league. He is not afraid of anyone and still has the skills to be a solid 3rd or 4th liner on any team.
  8. "Holy ******* sh!t!!! That works out to over 300,000 a year!!!"
  9. I always heard that he was not playing with a full stick...............
  10. I almost added Leino, but at his current rate of production and pay he is the equivalent of Jody Shelley as far as being able to move him....
  11. Enroth is on a hot streak right now but is Buffalo ready to put all of their eggs in that basket and move Miller? Enroth might very well be what the Ducks are looking for(with some draft picks) for Ryan. This would give them a good goalie and some cap freedom they won't have if they get Miller....
  12. Damn...I never could tell those guys apart anyhow......did you ever see the alice in wonderland's tweedle dee and tweedle dum? The real question is which is which......
  13. For whatever reason, Ryan is averaging less than 1/2 a point(11 over 23 games) this season and he is signed @5.1 per through the next 3 seasons.Plus, he is not a defenseman. I would think Homer has little interest in Ryan at this point in time and as much as I like the way the guy plays, we need a Pronger replacement/subsitute for if/when he returns not another forward.....
  14. Has anyone seen what is going on with Betts? Has he been operated on? Can he be operated on? At the very least can he come into the facilities and teach these guys how to win face offs? for his career he is over 51 percent on face off wins. Currently, the flyers are overall 46% on face offs. Only Calgary is worse @ 44 percent. Thoughts?
  15. No, but his 1.1. mil boat anchor contract keeps the better young guys off the ice that actually get/deserve playing time......
  16. Another possibility is that Homer was working on a trade and did not want to come off as weak. Your top defenseman is going out for 4 to 6 weeks....any trading partner you are dealing with that has this information is going to rake you over the coals.......see Adam Oates trade for reference......
  17. And I thought your remark about Laraque was good.......I think I have finally found my signature line if someone does not beat me to it......
  18. Never in all my years of following hockey have i heard a better analogy than the one you used to describe Laraque..."more useless than a white crayon". With the direction that Bettman is steering hockey, people who are strictly enforcers are being penalized out of the game. Just the other night Jody Shelley got a 10 minute misconduct for trying to get someone to drop the gloves, he pushed a few people and looked at them mean and that was enough to get him put in a Bettman time out(misconduct for being Jody Shelley). The habs really do need to add some size to their lineup. The only real big guy you have on defense is Gill and the largest forwards are Darche and Moen weighing in at 215 who are solid enough guys but they seem to play on the smallish side when you compare them to other teams. The habs need someone with a mean streak who can actually play the game like Steve Downie. I pick Downie because he is not the biggest guy on the ice but he does hit like it. The same with Zac Rinaldo, a guy with decent skills and plays with an edge. A player of that style would help out the Habs immensely. Welcome to the board habs guy. So far this is a prominently philly board but we actually like to talk hockey and not just smack. i hope you enjoy your stay.
  19. A sphincter says what?!?! So if someone grabs him on the way down, he is then off the Flyers roster freeing up space for a different move? (The first line was directed at Homer talking ****......)
  20. Dejardins suffered with shoulder injuries but not sure if he was still Captain when that happened
  21. that is one effed up virus........I guess that would be the newest incarnation of flyercontractover35NMCitis......
  22. I like the idea of not getting a point just because you got to OT. It would make teams play harder to finish the game in regulation as opposed to going well i can get a guaranteed point with a tie.
  23. The quality of the ice is a huge disadvantage if you don't adjust for it as damaged goods suggested. It is a disadvantage for both teams but the one who adjusted first won. the rags absolutely out skated the Flyers too. I don't recall many occasions where the puck carrier(whoever it was) for the Flyers did not have a rag on him like a wet shirt. Hands down the Rangers won this game by playing both ends of the ice with tenacity, something the Flyers seemed incapable of mustering for a multitude of reasons.
  24. Was this what you meant to do bak?
