Here's what we need to do to remedy this situation at least temporarily. First trade Briere to Toronto for Schenn or to Nashville for Suter and hope we can get him to sign long term. Or trade JVR to Nashville for the same reason. Trade Wellwood to Montreal for Gil and this would help for this year and some years ahead. This may also negate haveing to sign Carle. Could also use him as trade bait or draft pick. Then, concentrated hard on d-men/goalie in the draft.

Hurricanes sign Gleason to four-year extension

The Carolina Hurricanes announced Monday they have signed defenseman Tim Gleason to a four-year, $16 million contract extension.

The deal will pay Gleason $3.5 million in 2012-13, $4.5 million in 2013-14 and 2014-15 and $3.5 million in 2015-16.

"We thank Tim for choosing to stay with the Hurricanes long term," GM Jim Rutherford said in a statement released by the team. "He is one of our core players, someone who brings character and leadership to our locker room, along with being a key piece on the ice. This is a very important signing for our team going forward."

Lavy is not the problem stop blaiming the coach for once. Hold the players accoutable. His system is high risk high reward. In that system it makes or should make everyone skate hard. Lavy can't contol the players from being lazy or making bad passes. The players need to step it the f up. Otherwise the bruins will win 15-0 if the flyers play like they did vs the isles.

I have a love hate relationships with athletes because once the $$$ starts coming alot of players fall flat and never live up to their hype. To me watching roo you can tell he has blast playing every night and works his a$$ off every shift. He is one of the select few athletes that earns his pay check.

it really depends anything can happen in the playoffs. teams can go hot and cold. if the flyers play like they are capable of playing then yes they are a cup contender.

For almost the while game Flyers out played the Rags then had their usual brain farts in making stupids plays.

the Rags are a solid team better than the Flyers I say no. Why I say no, is because for 35-40 mins they took the play to the rags, Only difference Flyers stopped playing hard.

Flyers need to put bodies in front of Lundy or any goalie of that matter. All the shots yesterday were clear lanes and lundy saw everything. Lundy was letting out big rebounds, if the Flyers had guys in front of lundy they would have had more goals.

JVR is a waste this season I look at the hard work done against the boards by Simmonds and then look at JVR and shook my head. JVR big size and big paycheck and little effort all season.

The D has to be more physical Flyers need more size and more stay at home Dmen. but we all knew that

Since being a flyer fan I have witnessed 3 losses in the Stanley cup Oilers,Wings, Hawks, now 2 winter classic losses Bruins and now the rags. Man this sucks
