  1. Been a Flyer fan sense 1972.

But I'm done till Fletcher is fired.

If that is all that A-hole could get for Giroux, there is no hope.

Tampa Bay just gained a fan. I will still follow but won't be watching any games.

    Sad day for me.

  2. The Philadelphia Flyers traded Claude Giroux, a fifth-round pick in 2024, along with prospects Connor Bunnaman and German Rubtsov to the Florida Panthers on Saturday, in exchange for Owen Tippett, a first-round pick in 2024 and a third-round choice in 2023. The Flyers are also retaining 50% of Giroux's $8.275 million cap hit.

First round pick in 2024 is conditional that it is not in the top 10.

    Never said otherwise.

Maybe the Flyers should try winning some playoff rounds for a change and see how that goes oh and let's not wait 10 years to do it.

No, but you implied the one reason they sell out is because of other team's fans. I have no imperial proof but I doubt that is true.

In Tampa's case I am taking this from some friends who are season ticket holders who were snow bird before retiring and live there now. Basically old Isles fans they were tired of the Isles embarrassment and started pulling for Bolts.

They have told me a lot of the fans there are fans of other teams who are there to see the other team and lot of them are also a mixture of fans who left their old team behind for Tampa and their winning ways.

Now that isn't saying there aren't no real fans there pulling for them just that winning can turn things around.

It would be nice if Flyers were to try this tactic...

Maybe true, but a sell out is a sell out.

If I had to bet on it I'd go Tocchet . It'd fit their usual ideas and we'd here a bunch of bs about returning to a Flyer identity or some such plea to nostalgia.

Gronberg is however an interesting idea. I think Buffalo was considering him before they went Granato. he has an impressive resume and his ideas are definitely with the times. Therefore I don't see it happening .

I don't know much about Tocchet the coach, but I do know the old time "Flyer Hockey" does not and will not work in the new NHL. So personally I hope they stay away from Tocchet and go with a younger coach from a proven winning franchise.

I know I mentioned Torts but have came to my senses and no longer think he would fit.

It's a weak bottom half and a lack of character in that half.

First, you go nowhere these days without good goaltending, and they don't have it.

Second, you need defensive depth. Can't rely on one pairing and a bunch of puck movers, you need a solid core of defenders.

Third, you don't win with JUST a top line or two of high end talent. You need the muckers and the character guys to go with them. Tampa didn't win the cup because of Stamkos and Kucherov alone, they needed Gourde and Point and those 3rd and 4th line role players. Edmonton doesn't have that. Not even close.

over the years, despite lucking out for McDavid and getting it right on Draisaitl, they have drafted very poorly and it shows. Especially their D.

    Well here is the thing.

Their top for are head and shoulders above the Flyers top 4 so lines 1 and 2 goes to Edmonton.

Pretty sure their 3rd line is better than the Flyers 3rd. I will give you the Flyers 4th is better as I don't know. The Flyers defence is no raving hell being anchored by the likes of Ristolainen, Yandle and Provorov.

The flyers might have an edge in goaltending but it's hard to tell the way Hart is playing.

Don't get me wrong I would be happy if the Oilers never make the playoffs again, but all in all they have way more talent and are younger than the Flyers.

and who else? Seriously who? Nurse? Edmonton is all in on 2 star players who are 2 of the best in the league, but after that, the roster is pretty thin and even bad. If the big 2 have an off night or get shut down it's over, they lose. Nobody can coach that.

If they are looking at veteran coaches, Claude julien might get a look, but if I had to guess, I'd guess Tocchet. Not my choice, but it might be there's.

Would trade their roster for ours any day of the week. To clarify I despise the Oilers but I don't think talent is their problem.

I wonder if Tippett is part of the picture?  Widely respected, into defense and structure, and by all accounts, no-nonsense.  His playoff record isn't so hot, but he has not coached the enormously talented squads.

I don't know...Edmonton kinda has some talented players. Unless you think McDavid, Draisaitl, Puljujarvi and Nugent-Hopkins are no talent bums.

  9. Who do you all think the next HC will be?

I think they need an established NHL coach not a rookie.

I would not be apposed to John Tortorelle to change the character and team culture of this team.

    I pray it isn't Yeo.

I'm out of touch? What have you been watching the past three years? The team has gotten progressively WORSE. That's not a lie and it's something that CANNOT be disputed.

As for the teams you mentioned with regards to rebuild going awry, there's one thing they don't have that the Flyers have and it continually covers up Fletcher's **** job of team building - goaltending. Thank their ****** lucky stars that they have Carter Hart because if they didn't,  this would be a WHOLE lot worse.

And yes, tearing it down is the way to go and rebuilding PROPERLY is how you fix it. And with regards to clubs you mentioned (plus Philadelphia), they have **** management that's done nothing to fix things. In willing to give Kevyn Adams a pass because at least he's started to attempt to fix what's wrong in Buffalo. Schmuck just throws **** at a wall here and hopes to find something that sticks. And while we're at it, if we're going to talk about teams that have had a hard time with rebuilds, what about teams like Tampa Bay, New York Rangers, Detroit or Toronto? They've seemed to dive quite well in their rebuilds. Maybe great management and ownership means something.

And while we're on the subject of Schmuck, let's go over his offseason moves. When Allison, Laczynski and Frost weren't ready to start the year, he didn't have a backup plan on place. He instead signed guys like Brassard and Thompson. Our how about bringing in Keith Yandle because "York and Zamula" needed seasoning.  Are you ****** kidding me? Those guys have been atrocious this year. Our how about parting with prime assets for Ass-to-Mouth Stinktolainen or giving away prime assets and Gostisbehere to bring onboard Stinktolainen?

There's nothing about this group that has any redeeming quality. Say what you want, but Schmuck has set this franchise back and there's good old Dave Scott telling everyone that Schmuck is his guy and that they're close. It was embarrassing and nauseating to watch. I'm sorry you're so colorblind by this organization, but I've watched this for 40+ years and it's been the same old, same old. The only redeeming grace is that Danny Briere is working his way through the management ranks and has an eye for talent.

Open your eyes. Nothing is going to change and in fact I'm willing to bet it gets even worse next year. I'm sorry you can't see the damage Schmuck is doing it how Dave Scott enables him, but as a fan who has spent thousands and has been loyally devoted for over 40 years, yeah, I have every right to call this ******** out. It's too bad none of the media yesterday had the balls and spine to call them out.

    Don't hold back.......🤣

  11. 16 minutes ago, radoran said:

So, Dave Scott is banging the "we're going to spend money!" drum, is he?

The Flyers have all of $4,490 in cap space for this season.

How'd that work out for them?

The Flyers' problem isn't "not spending money" - it's spending huge amounts of it on the wrong assets.

Yup, 7 mil for Hayes trading for a broken down defenseman Ellis and a big dummy Risto.

The list goes on and on.

I would love to see Fletchers plan to build a team.

    The Philasota Flywild.

FFS if I wanted to cheer for a Minnesota team I would.

    Funny but not globally accurate.

Better developmental coaching may have benefited our young "stud defensive prospects" a few years ago.

Better NHL coaching may have helped keep young players on track when they struggled.

There were groups that benefited from a coaching change (for a time)

    Stevens to Laviolette....Laviolette to Berube.

Hakstol to AV was an improvement until, COVID and whatever is happening with the psyche of the players now.

In Pgh coaching changes ending up with the team winning cups twice, Therrien to Blysma and Blysma to Sullivan.

That roster was better than the Flyers, of course, sometimes the voice at the top matters.

I don't think it does this year with this team.

Not a shot at you but we were good till Covid is BS. Every team in the league is dealing with Covid not just the Flyers.

The rest of the league is doing okay dealing with it.

Piss poor coaching and player development and a GM that dosen't know a hockey player from a ballerina is the problem. Covid is just an excuse.

Actually it's both. Management is responsible for hiring these bum, or the bums who hired them.

It's not hard. 1+1=2. Feel free to take of your shoes if you need to count your toes

Oh,, and in case you didn't notice, AV was fired and they havent won in 12 straight...and counting. Good call. He was definitely the problem

The coaches that are still here are all AV disciples and his hires so no wonder the team is still faltering.

AV's stink is still all over this team.

Unless you think Yeo is a NHL caliber coach?

Seeing you loved AV, Yeo might just be your kind of coach.
