Not sure what you're trying to prove or disprove before Kimmo got to Philly close to the same age he played 2 full seasons so he has to be a bad signing too right?

And Provorov is a bigger defenseman 6-1 202.

Ellis is 5-10 180 and play a physical game despite his stature.

I don't know why with all these bums underachieving Flyer fans want to pile on guy who hasn't even had a chance to come in and show what he can do for the club.

All he did was play 4 games and put up 5 points in those games with this team and all folks can do is carry on about a guy comes in plays hard and gets hurt.

    Unreal.

But no Flyers you keep on ripping on the guy don't let me stop you...wish I could say I'm shocked but I've been here to long.

You want to rip on a guy rip on Yandle or Braun or even slack ass Travis Sanheim...

Pretty sure his point is Fletcher traded for damaged goods.

You mean the guy who hasn't played since October 22nd?

HAHA yeah most won't agree with that.

Pavel Brendl might have a better NHL career than Nolan Patrick...don't miss that guy any....

IMO he is still young and will grow into a good NHL scorer. In time he will put the injuries behind him.

Anyway that's my opinion and I'm sticking to it. Lol

I guess that is what happens when you just draft 200 foot forwards - maybe the reason they concentrate on the defensive side of the game so much is maybe due to the fact that hey they ain't goal scorers.

But hey what do I know...

    :BrownBag:

I know most don't agree with me but getting rid of Nolan Patrick was a mistake IMO. The kid was a sniper in junior and you don't lose that ability.

Unreal…the top 6 gets outworked and outshot all night by a team with 6 wins on the year. I started wondering if they were hanging Carter Hart out to dry on purpose or what! The 3rd and 4th lines played pretty well and a thousand percent better by comparison.

and this Ironman record… I hope it’s over soon so they can sit Yandle for good. Great career and all that but he makes six awful plays for every somewhat less awful play. Enough already.

Isn't Yandle on of Fletchers big signings?

    Fletcher = Idiot

What about if some idiot pays way more than he's worth....twice?

Cause his contract runs out this year. And Fletcher isn't going to let him walk after giving up all those assets. And you just know he's going to pay him for the player he wants him to be, not the player he actually is.

Fletcher is an absolute disaster as a GM, no question about that.

i mean if they make the playoffs, that's fine, i just hope the front office acknowledges that we need more talent on this roster.

If they make the playoffs Mike Yeo is coach of the year. Lol

Sorry, I just don't see this team making it.

Yeah they played good tonight but have they showed anything all year that would make you think they can keep it up?

  7. Fletcher has to be a seller at the deadline if he wants to save his job IMO.

He has to get some assets for players like Giroux, Coturier, Hayes, Ristolalnin and possibly Ellis.

Get what you can for JVR and Linblom.

He needs draft picks and a young core to do the rebuild right and the players listed are to old for a rebuild to be done right.

I doubt it happens though, and for that reason him and Yeo need to be gone asap and bring in a GM willing to make the hard choices and commit to a rebuild done right.

We have Hart so build from the goalie out and hire a defence first coach. Or at least a HC that can put a scheme a breakout plan and defensive zone coverage so players know where they need to be.

I'm so sick of watching this team running around like chickens with their heads cut off in their zone.

Sorry,  but we need a coach that can coach position and responsibility to the players.

Yeo is not that guy and face it Fletcher is a utter failure as a GM.

That behavior is the players. It's exactly what they did before AV's arrival and they're doing it still.  They did it differently out of camp because they were listening to the coach, but that takes work.

The problem--to repeat for the dimwitted--is still here and is much higher.

One just got inexplicably enshrined in the hall of fame.

You are wrong. It is a coached way to break into the offensive zone. If AV didn't approve of the players doing it he would have put a stop to it. That is what coaches do. Do you think they just stand behind the bench in suits and let the players have a free for all on the ice?

They draw up plays and its the players responsibility to put these plays into action.

    Players don't free for all.

I guarantee AV approved the drop pass zone entry, whether it works or not that is on the players.

No reason to keep Giroux.  Such a mixed bag of a career as a Flyer.  Pronger getting hurt and retiring was the worst thing to happen to him.  He needed other leaders in the room.

But we know how the story will go: Flyers will show flashes of good play and climb into PO contention.  Fletcher will be in limbo at the deadline, caught between the mirage of being a playoff team (and potential meddling from corporate) and knowing the Flyers really have no chance to do anything meaningful if they do make the POs.  As a result, Giroux won't be traded (again, corporate bringing pressure to bear on several fronts) and he will either be signed to a stupid contract or sign elsewhere for nothing, the former being the more likely scenario imo.  Either way, rebuilding is delayed and more years of mediocrity ensue.

Nah. The Flyers are done for the year they won't climb anywhere.

I think it's possible Giroux gets dealt. This time feels different, like maybe the usual "fire the coach because we can't fire 23 guys" move won't end the same way.

Comcast can't be satisfied with the dwindling ticket sales (and its impact on concessions and merchandise sales). They must see the direction it's going since they bought the team and can't be happy about it. I doubt they'll ever fire Bobby Clarke but the Comcast crew has to be wondering by now, "is this the best he and his old Broad Street buddies can do?"

At Clarks age maybe it will be suggested to him it's time to retire.

This is all too depressing when I need to get some work done.  We've seen this crap too often. You could be proud of the SCF bunch in '10.  They were outclassed but they fought.

The Calder Cup nucleus didn't survive to be Cup competitive for 3-5 years.  Holding our Captain out, it was gone pretty quickly.  Since then--twists, turns, Bryz...a few glimmers of hope, but mostly circular mediocrity.  Current management doesn't seem to get the New NHL.  It never will.  As I said last night, bring in Punch Imlach, Fog....probably won't matter.  This outfit will draft and trade for mucker grinders with high hockey IQ......and the usual results.

Another thought from last night: Leslie Groves as GM. For a chuckle:

    https://video.search.yahoo.com/search/video;_ylt=AwrC5pZJVK5h4Q8AOTv7w8QF;_ylu=c2VjA3NlYXJjaAR2dGlkAw--;_ylc=X1MDOTY3ODEzMDcEX3IDMgRhY3RuA2NsawRjc3JjcHZpZAN2a29fcGpFd0xqSGNxSzc0WWFvbldnRUFNVE14TGdBQUFBQk5tX1

Thank God Groves had his hand on designing and building the Pentagon.  Without that, 9-11 would have been much worse.  We need someone like him to get us out of our morass.

    Bingo!!

The dinosaurs at the top need to be gone too.

Again I'm not convinced that this team doesn't have the talent to be competitive if put in the right system.

Not enough to be cup contenders but game in and game out, yes I believe they can be.

But till the top is removed it will be status quo.

I don't know if "other team adjusted" explains it away - not this huge of a dropoff. Dare I say it's almost like the players wanted to get AV fired. Nah that would never happen...

I think that phrase gets tossed around to often when teams tank.

I find it hard to believe that they all decided not to play hard just to get AV fired.

They are payed to play at the top of their game and not playing hard can and will effect future contracts.

Plus no one likes to lose and I'm sure this constant losing is weighing hard on the players also.

Yes we are lacking talent in key areas, but when I watch the Flyers play I see a lack of a system. We are not an offensive first team and we are not a defensive first team. A lack of structure and sound game planning leads to players being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

very plausible ......  not gonna argue you are right or wrong .....  There is a level of stink that goes well beyond AV.

Not disagreeing with that at all. It does start at the top, as you know sh** runs down hill and so does a sports teams cancer.

    This makes zero sense...

"I don't know that (he lost the locker room)," Chuck Fletcher said of Alain Vigneault. "I do know that he tried ... Right now, I think a new voice is needed."

...ok so why make the change then??? Seems they are just pulling sh it out their asses now.

If he didn't lose the room and WTF happened his game plan just suddenly stopped working the NHL had figured them out??

No the inmates are running the asylum....and i don't think you will ever get a respectable coach here again with Claude Giroux is it's Captain...he alone has been the one constant since 2010.

He is the only one left from that era....why are we waiting to ship him out??

One year left on his deal seems like the perfect way to start this thing off....find him a new address.

Then you can maybe give Coots the C since they are stuck with him now...

IMO that is exactly what happened.

Hear me out now, we started out strong then 10 games in after playing teams a couple times the other teams changed their style to adjust to beat AV's style of play. Just look at the puck possession in the games we lost. pretty mush getting out shot every game. AV never adjusted the playing style of this team.

It all goes back to the playoff bubble year. Played real well until we started playing the same team over and over in a series.

Other coaches learn what it takes to beat us and adjust their teams play to achieve that AV and his coaching minions never changed a thing,

That is why we start hot then it seems like a switch is flipped and we get ice cold.
