I have Gibson and for the game of last night it's mentioned a GAA under 72.00 and SV% above .350. So yeah, something is wrong with Yahoo.
Sounds about right for Gibby.

The Flyers simply lack the offensive talent to field anything even approaching the potent top line. On a nightly basis, the Flyers face the first line of the likes of Pasternak/Marchand, Aho/Necas/Svechnikov, Kucherov/Point/Stamkos, Crosby/Guenzel, Barkov/Tkachuk, Panarin/Zibanejad, etc... You get the picture... They are embarrassingly outmatched in the talent department. Fletcher and the rest of the front office betrayed this team and needs to be held accountable.

No need to explain. I used to be a regular goon at Somethingawful and I enjoy watching creative trolling a lot lol.
I will never forget how in his endless plea to admin for imaginary unbanning, Rick was repeating "Do the needful! Do the needful!" LOL And we were telling him something like 'Rick, I think you've angered them like nobody did before, and looks like they banned you for life'...... which made him lose it even more and keep fricking out. He was sending people private messages asking if people can now see his comments and posts, and we were all saying "Sorry man, still xxxx xxxx x xxxx x xxxx xxx". LOL
This was truly priceless. I *literally* rolled on the floor laughing, scaring people who lived with me.

This was actually a reference from the old board in which we had HJ on the hook over two days. Oh my God, it got hysterical.
I will never forget how he molested admin... actually more than us. He was sending him a note after note screaming in capital letters WHY DID YOU BAN ME? WHAT DID I DO WRONG? ANSWER ME, DAMN IT!!!

A really nice win on the road against a decent team, who just got their #1 goalie back, with the Flyers' roster looking like a bunch of AHLers... And people are *still* complaining....

I know but it just seems that management is under some delusion that this is a playoff team. With the injuries to Coots and Atkinson have they still not accepted that we need a rebuild . Make a commitment to the young guys and just stick with it, it's a lost season anyway.
Signing Anisomov just ensures that a young guy is going back to the Phantoms. Why do we need another washed up vet, so we finish in 26th place instead of 28th? I'm actually hoping Coots and Atkinson retire, why tie up all that $ in old injured players. Coots will never be the same if he does come back. At best you would get two decent seasons out of him for 8 million per, but I even doubt that. Rebuild and go with the young guys.
I agree with most of it. But I would be surprised if Flyers' management think this is a playoff team. Can they really be *that* delusional?
And I do have a hunch Couturier will retire. Or he may give it one more shot and realize he is done. It will be such a damned shame, but I think he is a broken player, unfortunately. Playing a strong defensive style for years, playing one-on-one against power forwards made him took some serious beating game after game, year after year, until it broke him.

@RonJeremy
I think benching the young guns is not really meant to promote or favor the oldies, but more to send a message to the kids. They have a whole career in front of them. Frost, Joel Farabee and possibly some others will need to learn that there is more to playing professional hockey than just stickhandling and shooting from all possible angles. If they want to make it in this league, they need to learn hard way. Not holding them accountable won't be doing any favors to them.

Let's be realistic. We are seeing exactly what we expected to see before the season began. Even with everybody healthy, we knew the Flyers would be struggling mightily. Add not having JVR, Atkinson, and Couturier, and on paper, this is arguably the worst NHL team today. Frankly, they are overperforming gigantically at this point in the season. Carter will keep them in many games, but the Toronto game is what we should really start expecting to be more of a regularity. Fletch set them up to fail... No two ways about it.

Still not sure how they pulled this one off. Last year, this would have been a loss. But Hart is playing out of his mind right now.

What trash? Your team is playing well right now. And so are the Flyers. But the key words here are RIGHT NOW. It's a long season...

I even forgot about him....Flyers best forget about him too.
Sadly, the Flyers can't simply forget about him. He is carrying an annual cap hit of a bit north of $5 mil. And our moronic GM gave up and arm and leg to bring him in. So we might as well use him. I still think if leveraged correctly, he still has a place on this team. For all the bashing he got in Phily, when he is on his game, he provides a physical presence. He hits, he blocks shots, he is strong along the boards. If he would only do all this consistently, he could make the Flyers a tougher team to play against. And he does have some offensive skills. I really think he could be an asset. If there is anybody who can get the most out of this guy it's Tortz.

How about those Flyers, eh? Wow...

Slim pickings... Doesn't matter. Flyers' inapt management doesn't have cap room for anything...

They LIKE it. They think he's doing a good job!
But how is it possible? I am not trying to be smart; I am genuinely perplexed... How can they like it? How can *anybody* who has even a semblance of a clue can watch this sheer nightmare unfolding and think he is doing a good job? How can it be?
-
For comparison, Yzerman signed Oli Maata, David Perron, Andrew Copp, Kubalik, and Ben Chiarot. And Fletch signed a 4th liner Deslauries and the returnee Justin Braun. I mean... Why does this incompetent clown still have a job? How can the Flyers ownership be OK with this?

Fletch is a poster child for how to build a losing franchise. The guy is a joke.

I seriously hate this team right now.

I am good with this acquisition. He is one of the best offensive d-men in the league. Yes, he is not the best defensively, but it's not like we are talking Karl Dykhuis here. Pair him with a stay-home d-man and I bet you will not even notice his defensive mishaps. With 1.5 points per 60 minutes last year ranks him 8th among all d-men in 2021-2022, sharing the company with the likes of Cale Makar, Fox, Carlson, Josi, Devon Towes, and Hedman. And he is only 26 years old with huge ceiling.
Now... I don't like DeAngelo as a person. I don't know which sane person would... He is a bigot and seems to actually take pride in this. So the Flyers' character is taking a dent here. But in terms of a player, this is an immediate and undeniable upgrade. We all know how abysmal the Flyers' blueline looked last year.

Honestly, Fletch HIMSELF may need to be "fixed".
But barring a quick change to the GM seat, I think the best thing Fletcher can do in this situation, having the kind of coach Tortorella is, would be to sit down with the new head coach, find out exactly what the coach requires with regards to personnel, do the best he can to get him what he wants, while still adding in, from the GM perspective, what HE wants Torts to accomplish.
I know, I know...easier said than done...plus, does Fletcher have the acumen to see things that deeply?
Will his pride allow his GM self to ask the 'lowly' coach what he requires?
Will Fletcher be able to accurately and directly relate to Torts what the front office wants out of him if he were to get him the personnel he wants?
Those and a ton of other questions will be answered along the way and will either soften some Flyer fans' stance on this hiring, or exasperate the frustration further.
Ball is in Fletch's court now. This would look like a logical plan on the surface except for the fact that it's the Flyers we are talking. This roster is beyond patching, which would qualify as a long-term project. And the Flyers don't really have a good track records with long-term projects. Plus, I don't think Torts is the type of coach who fits well into a rebuilding mold (if he Flyers even decide to go that route).

Which never hurts... There is nothing wrong with having that little thing called work ethic. But again, when night after night, this team needs to counteract explosive talent of Pastrnak/Marchand/Bergeron, Aho/Necas/Svechnikov, Panarin/Zibanijad/Kreider, Crosby/Guentzel, Stamkos/Point/Kucherov, and Matthews/Mitch Marner.... work ethic ain't gonna help much. It will work for a dozen of games or so - and it did, as we saw - but at some point, the lack of talent will start making the difference.
