  1. He puts up pts that are averages 1pt or more per game. He's a top 20 player and if you tried to trade him you are not going to get any player who's ranking higher than him. Not every player is a Crosby, ovechkin, Stamkos, towes... But Giroux is a good player and still hasn't reached his full potential.. Let him be...

  2. Dear Flyers fans,

I'm writing this as a topic because I went the fans to hear the truth. Some of you know me as a blogger and I'm going to tell you something that is an absolute true story and I am in no way fabricating this. I'm not someone to try to gain any notoriety or want people to pay attention to me for the wrong reasons. You can can do two things, either read the story and believe that what I'm telling you is the truth or simply ignore it and move on. I can not under any circumstances reveal who told me this, however I can tell you that the information came from someone within the Kings organization who currently used to be a coach of the Flyers. IF you decide to attempt to figure it out, I can't be held responsible.

Ok in the beginning of the season after firing Lavy and continuing to play horrible, Lukko went to Snider and brought up the notion of firing Homer. He explained his reasoning, that they needed a change and that he brought Hextall to get his feet wet and to transition him into the GM position if the worst case scenario happened. Snider told Lukko no, because Paul was important to the organization, they are friends and if Paul wants to leave, it's going to be on his own terms. Lukko then went to Comcast-Spectacor and asked them to release a statement saying that he does not support Paul staying with the organization and they refused to release it at the request of Snider. Snider informed Lukko that he can either except that they're not going to fire Paul and move on, or simply quit. As you can see, Lukko left "unexpectedly." as the President of Comcast-Spectacor to "pursue other interests." As his age? After his long tenure? Come on, to me that didn't even make sense.

The reason I'm telling you this was because of the statement I couldn't ignore. "If Paul wants to leave, it's going to be on his own terms."

Snider is delusional and it's obvious he ALWAYS will keep former Flyers around the organization forever. So be prepared if Snider extends Homer's contract.

Like I said, if you chose to believe me that's fine and if you chose not to, that's fine as well. I don't have anymore information, I've written everything I know. I'm not going to argue with anyone or go out of my way to prove you wrong if you doubt my story. The purpose of this was to inform the fan base, nothing more nothing less.

  3. 90's hands down. Recchi, Lindros, Leclair, Kariya,Jagr, Lemiux, Roy, Hasek, Domi, Selanne, Forsberg, Sakic, Foote, Bure, Shanny, Lidstrom, Osgood, Hexy... Hockey was just all around great for me in 90s. I was a kid, playing hockey in the street...you don't see that anymore. Kids are never outside anymore.. and when they are, they're not playing hockey.

  4. I thought the same think when I saw the replay. The goal was scored because Giroux didn't take his man who was driving to the net. It was clear that Giroux was clueless and in no-mans land on that play. He didn't play at all in the OT. The announcers thought it was strange that he wasn't out there but I'm hoping berube saw his laziness in that final minute and benched him. I think he deserves Thursday off at home too.

Personally, I think he needs a game on the bench... a message must be sent. And for the Love of God they need to Trade Coburn!

  5. I meant to post this yesterday. I know it's a kick in the teeth, but hey the Flyers are healthy scratching Mcginn tonight and Rosehill will be in the line-up. I may just lose my freakin mind!

  6. I think having Vinny next to Giroux is what Giroux needs. I wouldn't be upset if Giroux had an assist or two per game while his line does all the scoring. That's 82+ per season which I'm ok with. What he really needs is some leadership development. The Flyers made the same mistake with Richards. They made them captains way too early.

  7. Gill has actually looked good in his 1 game. I'd keep playing him first. Mez, I like Mez and before I thought about getting rid of him, I'd move turnover Coburn who has 7 turnovers that led to goals this season thus far and he makes 1mil more than Mez. Mez is also more Defensive minded than Coburn. Like I said, I'd move Coburn FIRST. First is the key word here.

  8. I don't agree with this. You either fall and hit your head from fighting or you take a puck to the face and shatter your bones. It's hockey. If they don't want injuries, make them wear cages, remove hitting and make them play with a plastic puck.

If they want to do it at the Amateur level and juniors then okay. But in the AHL, NHL...it's stupid if you ask me.

  9. too bad for the AHL age limit rule...would love to see him with Phantoms this year......

IMO I think he would grow better there with better competition then being stuck in Juniors again...again jsut my opinion...

I agree. I thought that back when the Flyers had Luca Sbisa. If he were able to grow and show off on the Phantoms, I think he's not part of that Chris Pronger trade.

  10. Just like with Anthony Stolarz, I've started a Scott Laughton Topic for those who'd like to follow him, discuss and so forth.

    Here is his Bio: (Wiki)

Scott Laughton (born May 30, 1994) is a Canadian ice hockey centre who currently plays for the Oshawa Generals of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). He was drafted in the first round, 20th overall, at the 2012 NHL Entry Draft by thePhiladelphia Flyers.[1]

Laughton signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Flyers on August 8, 2012.Following the 2012–13 NHL lockout, Laughton made the Flyers out of the team's abbreviated training camp and made his NHL debut on January 19, 2013 at home against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Following the Flyers 2013–14 preseason training camp, Laughton was loaned back to theOshawa Generals of the OHL after failing to stick with the NHL club to start the season

So far Laughton is having a great start to his OHL Season: In 8 games he has 10G, 7A for 17 Pts and is a +6.

  11. Giroux is 25. Hartnell is 31.

I don't at all mind long-term "market value" deals for guys in their mid-20s (one might quibble with whether Giroux is an $8M player, but that's another thread).

Guys in their early 30s? Something else entirely.

If one thinks the deals for Weiss, Clarkson and Clowe were ridiculous - and I do - then it's not a stretch to think the same about Hartnell's deal (as opposed to the player).

Happy to be wrong. But I was also happy to be wrong about Briere, Bryzgalov and Pronger and still am happy to be wrong about Streit and Lecavalier.

Hartnell has way better stats then Weiss Clarkson and Clowe. If you're going to compare those contracts to Hartnell's who have o look at the stats.

    Hartnell 230 G 255 A

    Weiss  145 G 249 A

    Clarkson 93 G 73 A

    Clowe 104 G 75 A

I can agree that his contract is horrible, but he didn't give himself that contract. That's Homer's fault.

  12. Unfortunately, to this point of the season that means five hits in five games, -2, zero points and an injury.

Not exactly the start to the six-year deal we might have liked to see.

Agreed, but let's face it, Giroux is soon to be 8mil man and he's off to a horrible start as well. They all are unfortunately.

  13. Here's the big rub: there's absolutely no pressure on him to get better

"He's in the best shape of his life," general manager Paul Holmgren said after Monday's practice in Voorhees. "His body fat is 7 percent lower than it's ever been, so he did the work in the offseason that we asked him to do." "But he was [ticked] at the end of the year that we didn't make the playoffs; he was [ticked] at his game and he did something about it this summer, so I'm excited for Scott to see what he can do with the shape he's in.
