Honestly, it wasn't even a matter of taking a period off, it was a matter of stupid giveaways. Tampa played that goddam trap, dump it out, ice it, take the face off in their own end. I would love to see an offensive zone time comparison because I felt like the entire second and third periods were played in Tampa's end, they weren't even trying to generate offense after it was 1-0.....and then you have that midget St Louis cherry picking for a breakaway goal. This was the most aggravating game i can remember in forever, it was like every game the Flyers played against the stinkin' Devils from 1994 to 2003, on the attack the whole game, make a mistake and it's in the net the other way. Arrrrrgggggghhhhh!!!!

OK since several posters have raised the possibility, I'll ask just for kicks.....he's on LTIR and salary has not counted against the cap during that time, correct? So does the ability to go over the cap with your own players in the playoffs (although it's usually within the context of AHL callups) apply here? Even if it does, and as @Jmdodgesrt4 opines hopefully that maybe this was just a ploy to shut him down completely after the concussion symptoms set in and save him for the postseason, wouldn't the league be all over this with an investigation and possible loss of draft picks or future team cap $ reductions? Again, my non-insider opinion is his career is over, I'm just entertaining the "what if".....

@Miller Time Yep, I remember you did pick the Blues to reach the Final before the season started (over on that old board). We'll see how that pans out but leading the league points gets you some kudos. As far as the Flyers not "needing" Pronger, I disagree. Have they found a way to manage with his loss? To some extent yes. But they are without their unquestioned team leader, and his physical presence has not been replaced (Grossman's solid play notwithstanding). His absence, along Bryz being lost in the woods of course, was a major contributing factor to the Flyers' long mid season swoon. Lindy? Honestly I think he's Buffalo's Andy Reid. Management loves him and he's long tenured, and he's stuck around a bit too long
